P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
P&O SUE replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Evening all, be glad when August comes, July has been very miserable! Not too much rain today but there was some and lots of cloud, so miserable! Had my grandson today, sad he’s going to school September as I won’t see him so much. Plus heard today his mum has a new job in a school so she’ll have all the holidays off so I won’t even be needed then! Had a bit of a nightmare this afternoon when both my parents mobiles weren’t working for some reason or their landline!! I had an hour of stress before I finally got through! -

Right in St Peter’s Port very close to where the tender lands is Castle Cornet which is enjoyable if you like castles. There’s a cafe where you can look right out to sea. -

When we were on her recently there was no booking for the MDR’s on freedom, just turn up like ‘the old days’! Also we could book the speciality dining before our cruise except for the Gkasshouse. -

which ship are you on Josy? Ventura has different arrangements for booking dining compared to the 3 bigger ships. -
Although the P&O cruises to Amsterdam this last year or so and for next year have all been in port for over 24 hours. Judging by the empty dining room I think there were quite a lot of people eating off the ship.

Evening all, just catching up. Went to see 42nd Street at the theatre in Canterbury last night, very good evening! Amazing tap dancing. We had a meal beforehand and the prices are really high now! We both agreed it was lovely but the prices were noticeabley dearer. -

I’ve never taken a drinks package but P&O’s drink prices are reasonable so I don’t think it’s worth it. We have something like a glass of wine with dinner and a couple of cocktails or shorts and it doesn’t pay to get a package! I’m not sure about a non alcohol package, that might work, perhaps someone else can comment? -
It’s a great shame as it’s a wonderful place to dock, so easy to get into the city. I’m so pleased we got to do it last month and got to watch the sail in from our balcony in the sunshine. We’ve been a couple of times before but arrived overnight so didn’t see the lovely sail in. My Aurora cruise for next year has already been changed to Rotterdam. I’m happy with that as we’ve been before as I’ve said but I’m sad we won’t be able to experience that again.

Thank you Selbourne for a very enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next one!

You can do most of them on Ventura before you go! Strange all the ships are different.
-
I’ve had this with my 4 night Aurora cruise at end of March, some excursions are already up for Rotterdam with ‘Amsterdam on your own’ about £58!!
-
Oh that’s a shame, that’s obviously why my March one next year has changed to Rotterdam.

We were docked just along the way from the station, 10 minutes walk roughly. The ferries were going back and forth constantly. It was about a five minute ride across the river.new went to the Amsterdam Tower, fabulous views from the top and with a nice breeze as it was a very hot day! The ferry was just behind the station, as I knew what it looked like from You Tube it was easy to spot! Here are pictures of the ferry and the Tower.

Did anyone seen the first episode of the Sixth Commandment last night? Quite chilling and a brilliant cast, I’m looking forward to the second one tonight. -

I’m absolutely shattered! Trouble is John’s alarm goes off an hour before mine and if it wakes me up and I’m working I tend not to go back to sleep. I’ve been awake since 4.45 plus 35 minute walk each way to work! I literally have not moved since I’ve got home ! Just seen my excursions have finally popped up on my Rotterdam cruise. There’s not many of them though and not the one I want - to Keukenhof. Perhaps they’ll release some more later. -

I didn’t want to get into this debate - but she’s right 😃 -
Why are people still cruising with P&O ?

Can I add I’ve been looking at Uk holidays and they were dearer per night than the cruise I’ve just been on and they only include breakfast! No brainer…- 70 replies

Great report again Selbourne, loved the Tiffany story! How much?! 😱

I did the seven night Princess cruise to Oslo Copenhagen and Skagen in July 2019, we were two hours late into Copenhagen as two tugs had to literally push us in against the wind. Then we missed Skagen altogether due to the high winds. Hope you get there!
