  1. As you know I’ve been on Ventura recently and I wouldn’t hesitate to go again. Of course it was a short cruise so that makes a difference but I do like the layout of the Grand Class of ship! I would be interested to hear how you get on on a longer cruise as the most of the best itineraries from Southampton are on Ventura as she isn’t stuck like Iona on the same itinerary every week!
  2. I’ve gone off Premier Inn lately as the last two or three times I’ve stayed the air conditioning has been so fierce I have been freezing! I particularly don’t like the breeze over my face! There doesn’t seem to be a way of turning it off either.
  3. Ooh I’ve been looking at the Ageas Bowl for a couple of years and funnily enough was looking this morning for my cruise next March. Prices started lower but for a room overlooking the cricket pitch it was £146 so I might book it!
  4. I can’t remember which ship we were on when they stopped wine waiters, probably Azura or Britannia and a couple of times we didn’t get our wine until our main arrived! No such problems on my recent cruise on Ventura although as we were in Amsterdam for two evenings I think we had much less people using the MDRs. Likewise we found the waiters quite chatty but they weren’t busy!
  5. Happy birthday Michelle, lovely to be on a cruise on your birthday 💕🎂🥂 🌹
  6. What a shame Andy, I’m 90% sure the dress code applied to Epicurean on Ventura last week. We didn’t have any of the other problems you had either. I don’t blame you for cancelling.
  7. I saw a post from someone onboard ‘elsewhere’ that they were missing Marseille due to the riots and calling at Cartagena instead.
  8. So sorry to read of your experience Eglesbrech, awful experience. Glad you’re home now.
  9. Talking of theatre , I’ve booked 42nd Street for later this month at the theatre in Canterbury. I’ve seen it many many years ago in London, I remember all the tap dancing, I love tap dancing! John hasn’t seen it though, really looking forward to it.
  10. It’s not open Sundays and Mondays unless it’s a special week like the Tulips and the rose week last week. It closes quite early in the season too. As it’s not NT it doesn’t seem so well known so wasn’t too busy either.
  11. This actually made me a bit teary as that’s how I felt when we finally got onboard a ship again 🥰
  12. @AndyMichelle only just seen this thread, good to hear you are enjoying yourselves. Hope you continue to have a great time and I look forward to future posts.
  13. So… yesterday we went to Pashley Manor Gardens, just over the border in Sussex. Never been there before and it’s not open every day. It was a lovely day with lovely food in their cafe with ingredients from their kitchen garden. We had a salad when we got there and after walking round shared a cream tea on the terrace. There are also many sculptures in the garden and I was intrigued by one of Ann Boleyn that was by Philip Jackson. Here are a few pics
  14. I had a big shock when I saw that as we were planning a day out Saturday! Luckily we went anyway and although the sky was a bit moody at times it was lovely and warm.
  15. I’ve now got through to P&O and cancelled our cruise 😢 The first ‘ lady’ I spoke to I’m sure was AI as when she said do you want to rebook or just cancel I said I phoned recently and they said I couldn’t move it to 2025. ‘She’ just replied ‘do you want to cancel or rebook’ so I just said cancel and she put me through to a human who was very sympathetic and cancelled the cruise.
  16. John cut our grass yesterday and we woke up to rain 😊
  17. Morning all, finally some less stuffy temperatures here but we have rain! What a change. I go back to work this afternoon so not really bothered! I’ve just tried to phone P&O to cancel my October cruise and it says the offices are closed! I called twice after 9am and the website says they open at 8.30 🤷‍♀️
  18. Re the Epicurean, I’ve just been on Ventura and it wasn’t really 5 courses, one was an ‘amuse bouche’ which was a small drink, bit milky for my taste. Then before the desert we had a palette cleanser which was this - it was gorgeous!
