Joanie, It is so good to have you back on the boards. Tony and I leave tonight for Rome for five days, then board the Splendor on the 20th for the 21-day transatlantic. I want to thank you again for all your comments and observations during your 2022 transatlantic. It made so many things easier for us during the planning cycle. Is spite of your changed itinerary -- such an understatement -- we hope you and Rolf have a wonderful time. And thanks so much for the comparisons you are doing between R and O. We originally had reservations on O and I got fed up with all the decision-making that R doesn't bother you with. And especially not including business class air. We found that when all is said and done, there is not THAT much difference. We look forward to your continued posts. Kathy

We'll be boarding the Splendor on Nov. 13 in Rome for 21 days. We definitely want to play trivia but are not sure where one finds partners early in the cruise. Do you wander up to the Observation Lounge late afternoon the first day and announce you are looking for fellow players? Do you meet fellow travelers at the Veranda Café that first afternoon? Inquiring minds need to know. Many thanks from a first-time Regent couple. On another topic, can you play duplicate bridge and trivia the same day? I note that bridge is scheduled from 1:30 to 4:30 and trivia at 4:30. We'd hate to be racing down the stairs to go from bridge to trivia. Help.

Dave, could you please explain how we get the $400 from the purser? Just go to him and ask for the $400 cash pp to be charged to our room? And there will be no 3% charge? Thanks.

Whinenowine: I am so sorry but I have the Connoisseur spirits list which I printed off of a link a while ago. Don't have a clue where I saw it. Probably both of them were in the same message and for some reason I didn't think to print out the wine list.

I found the Connoisseur spirits list but I CANNOT find the Connoisseur wine list. Would someone who has knowledge of where it's located please post the link. Many thanks.

Vegas, thanks so much for the Passages. We're on the same cruise this year, albeit starting in Rome rather than Barcelona. This is very helpful for trying to plan our days at sea, or at least see everything that is available. Hoping we can get from duplicate bridge, which ends at 4:30 PM, to Trivia, which begins at 4:30, without knocking people over in the corridors. 😉 Hey, pingpong1, we look forward to meeting you on this voyage.

Although I gave Regent three different routes (ORD/EWR/FCO, ORD/ATL/FCO, ORD/IAD/FCO)) to fly from Chicago to Rome on Nov. 7 without stopping in Europe, we couldn't get any of those flights. We are booked on United nonstop ORD/MUC arriving in Munich at 0935 and transferring to a Lufthansa flight leaving at 1055. My question is: is that enough time for the transfer? They are both international flights so I am assuming in the same terminal. We are traveling Business Class but Munich is one airport we have never used. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

On a TOTALLY different subject, where does your lovely wife buy her tops/blouses? We'll be on the Splendor this November and I want to look like her. Thanks

GP, Years ago we did two 12 day cruises, back to back. At the end we were REALLY ready to get off the ship. There is no way we would ever think about 61 days. The cruises were wonderful, food great, but too much food and even the entertainment got old. Sorry to say that, but that's how we felt. Hope you think long and hard before making your decision. Just from getting to know you on this forum, you have the personality to be happy anywhere for any length of time .

We have been on a number of Viking river cruises. They have always had regular walking groups on shore excursions and a separate slow walking group. Just had friends return from a river cruise that had a super slow group within the slow walking group. Surely Regent should be able to set up at least regular and slow walking tours.

Another question on this topic. Do you book the Wine Lunch ahead of time, e.g., at the same time you book your other restaurant reservations? If it's booked onboard, is it always on a sea day? Thanks.

I don't usually get sides. With that nice salad and the sole, if I have any room left, I might taste one of their desserts. That would be it. Of course, we would also be sharing a bottle of Louis Jadot Pouilly-Fuisse🍾

Absolutely not. It will be filleted by the waiter at tableside - no head. They remove the bones and skin and serve it. Makes me hungary just thinking about it. My husband agreed that that particular night I won the best meal prize. We both agreed that if we had it to do over again, we would have gone to Le Bistro more than once and gotten the sole again.

I confess to being a Dover Sole snob and that particular entree at Le Bistro was the best I've had in DECADES. Just fabulous. I also loved the endive salad, without the walnuts or pecans. Endive with the Roquefort dressing makes a perfect meal.

We also will be on the Nov 23 TA from Rome to Miami. Really looking forward to all your observations and tips.

Thanks RallyDave. Believe me, we plan to deviate at the 270 day date in hopes of getting the nonstop - if it's still on United's schedule - from ORD to FCO.

We are on the Splendor 11/13/23 Rome to Miami TA. I booked our shore excursions this past Sunday (11/13) and was also able to book the Culinary Kitchen days I wanted - a year out. Good luck.

We will be on the Splendor Rome to Miami TA next November. Hopefully, we can get the ORD-FCO nonstop flight. If not, we would probably fly ORD-EWR-FCO. In that case I understand that the ORD-EWR portion we would be in First Class. However, I am told that the MIA-ORD flight at the end of the TA would be in economy. Does anyone know why the ORD-EWR would be in First but at the end of the trip we'll be in economy? New to Regent and trying to figure things out.

I have seen recommendations to take a taxi/Uber from the Regent hotel, included in our cruise, so as to arrive ahead of the bus. However, since we are embarking from Rome, I don't know if I want to spend that much extra for the hour's drive to the port. What do you think? Thanks.

Hi Gary, Husband and I are celebrating our 50th next year. We also looked, and had made a reservation on, Oceania. But I got REALLY tired of all the choices I had to make using their "O Life" and canceled. For this special occasion we finally settled on Regent's 21-day trans-atlantic Rome to Miami. We are staying in a Concierge Suite, which includes business class air, night-before in luxury hotel, transfer to port, shore excursions, gratuities, all drinks, free laundry, and early choice of excursions and dining. I wanted to make it as simple as possible. Is it expensive, yes. But we both wanted a situation where, basically, everything is included. We are also Titanium Elite with Marriott so will fly over to Rome a few days early and use points for the hotel. I agree with you that one must do due diligence when choosing an upper-tiered cruising experience.

Had some OBC to use so I got a regular manicure on the Encore. Started chipping on second day. That's ridiculous. I would NEVER pay for a salon service. To get rid of excess OBC is the only way to go.

We were on the Encore August 14-21. You CANNOT use non-refundable OBC in the casino, unfortunately.😪
