Interesting that we on January 7th 2024 did not get this email. I will be OK with San Juan instead of Puerto Plata even though of course it is always interesting to see a new port. This cruise is not booked for specific ports for us and we like San Juan at night.

You cannot connect to cellular service. You still can use WiFi or LAN. Even if you do not use your phone, but it is on and not in Airplane Mode your apps can and will most likely try to connect to internet.

While nobody forces you to wear face masks anymore, I sailed since the first sailings allowed (July 2021) and don’t remember requirements for face diapers.

Rules about masks were removed by March 2022. Tests (unless TA) by November 2022.

Are you sure everybody does whatever they really want on cruises or is this just a nice slogan? We don’t expect everything people enjoy to be allowed during cruises. I’m sure you can think of many things like that too.

I do live in Northeast. However outside of my travels and cruises in Europe, NE/Canada and some others most of my almost 60 cruises were to Caribbeans, Bermuda, Bahamas. While I do see some shorts in MDR even on lines like Celebrity, people in shorts are minority in MDR. I doubt it’s because “their wives make them” (I’m sure this happens too) or they are afraid of Maitre D or me 🙂 . All ships I’ve sailed on were very well air conditioned so it’s not like it’s too hot to reach restaurant (unlike it could be on land).

When you are saying somebody is concerned, you are hugely overestimating everything. I like how people add “police” as if they are were haunted by anyone with demands. People are expressing opinions. Not unreasonable opinions as they match what cruise line thinks about dress code Repeating here:

We can do almost any rooms even with 5 cruises a year. We just found that they are not useful for us at all, just like balcony, but there I can at least dry my snorkeling equipment and swimwear. When we just started cruising 5 times a year I didn’t have enough vacation days so I usually worked 1-3 full days on 8 days Thanksgivings cruises. Then I had to spend continuous time in our room so we had balcony or JS. Now we don’t even have reason for this so now it’s mostly insides and random balcony if price for them is identical to insides.
