  1. I believe you have to confirm your continuing membership of the AARP each time you book or request the OBC. How do they know you are still a member a year from now?
  2. Good morning, Dailyites! We returned home last night after a very long day of flying from Amsterdam to Victoria. I think we were up over 24 hours. Everything went smoothly, and our bags arrived home with us. They are, as yet, still unopened... Wishing @JazzyV a very successful surgery and no more pain after! In 2016 we visited Mykonos for the third or fourth time, but this time with our DD, Cathy, and we also met Tony, @sailingdutchy, for the first time. We had dinner with him and Martha the night before the cruise in Athens, and he had organized some interesting tours for the Prinsendam cruise. We loved sailing with Cathy, and we sent her to Delos the morning of the day in Mykonos that time and then we met her at the dock and wandered around, it's another one of those pretty blue and white Greek towns. We had an amazing lunch on the waterfront, so good I forgot to take pictures, of course. Lunch break Local guard cat
  3. Hello, Dailyites!(I have no idea what time it is, anywhere…). Lots of news today, I’m so sorry, Bruno, about your Dear Dad, you did so much for him these last years, it will be a big empty hole in your life for a while, but I hope your wonderful memories of the time with him help. Lambie, nice to see you here, I’m sorry your sister is having a difficult time with cancer, and Terri and Melanie on the loss of your friends. A friend in Victoria, Ruth, just lost her DH a few days ago, the day before her 90th birthday . A hard time for her. Jacqui, I hope the foot nurse has solved your problem and you can travel pain free. We are thinking of you. Terry, I think of Tana so often, and all you do for her and the teenager. You are wonderful, I think we all agree! Here on the NS, we are having a quiet and very restful time. DD has emailed that she thinks we should stay away longer, so she must be managing okay with her broken shoulder! We had the Mariner Recognition Event today, and our friend Jane said it was the best meal we’ve had so far on the cruise. I will try to post the menu and some pictures, if I can. Tonight we will definitely want to eat light!
  4. Like Overhead Fred, I went to “All That” last night on the NS. It was okay, I wasn’t overly impressed. Lots of costume changes, a few songs I recognized, seemed to me just a new iteration of the One Step group. The dancers were 4 women, one man, which seemed a bit lopsided. The singers (2men, one woman) were okay. Canned music…
  5. Good afternoon, Dailyites, from the cold and windy mid-Atlantic! We are leading a fairly quiet life here on board the Nieuw Statendam, mainly reading, chatting, eating and sleeping. My one main observation has been that they are using tiny scoops in the Lido to serve the ice cream. They must be an inch and a quarter in diameter, so I’m going to have to ask for two! Jacqui, I noticed the Fleet Report says we are heading for Brest, actually we are en route to Cobh, Ireland. Brest was taken off the itinerary some time ago. We’re looking forward to seeing @VMax1700 and Mrs. VMax on the 17th. we have been invited to the Mariner Recognition Event tomorrow, to be followed by a Luncheon. I will take pictures. I haven’t done much of that so far.
  6. Off to an early dinner now in the hopes we’ll be able to watch the SpaceX launch later. Thanks all!
  7. Six of us are on our tiny balcony just forward of midships on deck 6. We have Canadian flags.
  8. I only bought Surf internet. It seems to be that I cannot see what’s on the webcam. go a picture of Rotterdam.
  9. I only bought Surf internet. It seems to be that I cannot see what’s on the webcam.
  10. Captain Draper just gave us the safety message, he didn’t mention what time we would be moving on NS. He said he would come back with more info. So maybe we know more than he does!
  11. Fred and Mitzi are on board and Tony has organized the anniversary dinner in Canaletto for tomorrow. I’m hoping that we will be able to see the spacex launch tonight as we sail past. Not quite sure how it will work.
  12. Made it on board quickly , the cane helped, we had a shortcut down to the atrium on deck one. We walked to the forward elevators and up to 6 to our room . It’s a standard balcony, but only 2 hanging closets. In the past we’ve had three! I immediately bought internet, and here I am! There were many people in the lounge who greeted us from the roll call and Jacqui’s friends J&J, who flew in this morning. Didn’t see @Overhead Fred, maybe they slept in… there are tourists looking at us.
  13. Waiting to board - looking for Fred and Mitzi!
  14. A lot of ships today and our departure time has changed! We’re at the back of the queue. I hope it will still be light when we eventually sail…
  15. I’m hoping things are a bit different on the TA. I did like your caviar happy hour. Might try that!
  16. I was looking on my Navigator, and I noticed that dinner tonight on the NS is the same menu as yours.
  17. We’ll be departing tomorrow on Nieuw Statendam, I’ve requested a wave for 6 of us on our tiny veranda on deck six. We’ll have a Canadian flag or two - I’m hoping that pictures will taken by the regular Sailaway addicts!
  18. Thanks, Gerry, we are at the Holiday Inn Express. It definitely is further! Tony and Martha should be arriving soon from Toronto, and we will discuss dinner.
  19. Anybody know Carrabba’s Grill in FLL and how it is? We walked to Joe’s for a nice breakfast and then to Publix for some wine and other bits and pieces, and then back to the hotel. I know now I will not be able to walk to the Outback tonight, if that is where they want to go, I’d have to take a taxi - that four airports and three flights have really done me in. But Carrabba’S is just at the corner near the hotel, I think I could do that. I looked at the menu, I’m tempted by the lobster ravioli, or maybe the veal piccata. Here’s me, thinking about the next meal….
  20. Good morning, Dailyites, and thank you to everyone for the daily news! We made it to Fort Lauderdale late last night, after an eventful day of snow storms, (they said 8 inches in Calgary), delayed flights, and a lot more walking than I had anticipated. But we and our suitcases are here now! Pat is still asleep , but I’ll wake him soon, as the plan is to go to Joe’s Diner for breakfast.
