  1. I have a question that is off topic. We are doing a similar trip in a few weeks and are wondering if HAL has an "in transit" shorex in Whittier for travelers doing a roundtrip voyage? I think I have seen one flash by when looking at shorex in the past, but our trip does not list one. Did your trip have one? If not, did you find anything to do in Whittier during the change-over day? I have searched online, but not much is offered. Thanks for any information and sorry to go off topic.😉
  2. If you don't need to use this for embarkation, who do you contact to get a wheelchair at the port when boarding? Thank you for any information.
  3. Ditto; I ordered a few pieces of sushi as an appetizer, then the rest of my meal off the Tamarind menu. They do charge you ($3/piece in my case) separately for anything from the Nami.
  4. Hi Ruth; we haven’t used a HAL airport transfer in a long time…would like to know if your luggage is automatically put on the bus or do you have to take it to the bus yourself?
  5. Thank you for this information. Where is the library located? We really missed it when the libraries were removed from the ships.
  6. I’m a relative newbie but I think the higher price is for the Prestige package if you don’t already have the House package and the lower price is to upgrade to Prestige from House. Oops! Guess I typed too slowly….
  7. I thought Neptune suite passengers have access to CO. Is this not true? Or did you just switch to lower the cruse fare and still get CO? Thanks for any info.
  8. Has anyone looked at the Shore Excursions under the new SM plan? I looked at some of them on a cruise I was considering for 2024 and no prices of any kind were listed, and it just said "unlimited", which is not really true because the shorex for this cruise has a $800 limit per cabin (I guess). Perhaps there are no prices since the cruise is not until next year; I didn't check any 2023 cruises.
  9. You are correct on that one...that "comparable" description is not true of the old plan. Otherwise we would not have to upgrade. We usually only have one cocktail drink before (could be with) and one cocktail drink after dinner (could be with, also).
  10. This passage is from the attachment to an earlier post (I believe #291 or so) that describes the possible new lunch/dinner package and mentions alcoholic drinks other than beer and wine: PS- Now I am really confused; I guess we DO have to wait for the "real" rules...
  11. Thank you; we have been on many cruises and understand that HAL insurance is not the best. We have gotten older after 35 years of cruising and private insurance coverage is a lot more expensive as you age (if you can even purchase it}. Our regular health insurance covers out-of-country and at this point mostly we need evacuation and "cancel for any reason", which HAL will let you purchase close to final payment. Appreciate your comment, though.🙂
  12. Anybody having trouble with the HAL site? I've been trying to check my booking for the last hour and keep getting "we ran into an issue with our system...". It's getting near to final payment for me and I'd like to purchase their insurance, but no luck. I can look at the shorex, but when you try to book anything, the system quits. We have been away, but I know before we left the site was also balky. Thanks for any help.
  13. Would there be a time problem getting to the bus if one needed a porter from the luggage room? Last time in Vancouver we had to wait about 45 min. for a porter and had to sign up for that after we found our luggage.
  14. We have 2 separate 7- day cruises booked B2B for Alaska. When I applied for shareholder credit, I expected to get $100 for each. Much to my surprise I was told I would receive $125 for each, so $250 divided by 2. Won’t see the actual amount until we board, though….
  15. Well darn...my Day 3 and Day 4 HAL menus are still the same. I even signed out and re-signed in. I went through the link for "HAL menus..." in your signature. Hope we don't skip the 2nd Gala on our cruise.
  16. Crew News: I was just looking at the 7-day menus for AK 2023 on your photo site and it appears your listing of day 3 and day 4 are the same. Also, what is the "Day 5 NOT Gala Night" mean? Is it just Day 6? I'm glad escargot are still on the 2nd Gala Night menu! Thanks for the menus and all the posted information over the years.😊
  17. How did the rest of your cruise go? You haven't posted in awhile.
  18. This is a little bit off the subject, but I thought I read that if you have a liquor package, if you order a room service drink, you will be charged for it and the package will not be applied (actually, I think this might be from another cruise line chat...I am going between 2 lines currently..)🤔
  19. Well, I just tried to book dining for my mid-September cruise and for the first time, a restaurant showed to book. But....only the Pinnacle, no complimentary box, and only 5pm,5:30, and 6pm available. Did not try to book. Want different times and different restaurants. Hope there is some availability.... P.S. Just read the previous response. I think ours is 139 days out, so will try in a few more days.
  20. I think the twin beds are maybe a bit less wide than a regular twin (have never been in one), but when are put together they are not equal to 76" so HAL can't call them a King. I do know that when the twins are put together to make "queens" they seem wider than a regular queen, almost as wide as a California King, which is slightly less (72"-74"?) wide than a regular King.
  21. Speaking of 2017 dry docks, does anyone know when the Nieuw Amsterdam is getting its next dry dock? I thought April 2023 was mentioned somewhere, but that doesn't appear to be happening, since cruises are planned then...🤔
  22. Nice city, but no. We live in Northern California near Sacramento.
