  1. Unfortunately, yes. I applied two weeks ago and am still waiting for approval. I’m sure it will be worth it. Susan
  2. We sail on 8/21...eight nights to Bermuda...still have to test and can't do it until I get to Florida (two days prior)...GRRRRR!
  3. Congrats on NEGATIVE. I will be taking my first proctored test two weeks from today before boarding a cruise on 8/21. I wish I could do it before flying, but requirements are still two days pre cruise (apparently due to Bermuda restrictions). Just added stress for someone who hates to fly and is worried everything will fit into her luggage (loved your post yesterday with the guy trying to fit everything into his bag). Overpack? Hell yes!!! Enjoy your cruises. Susan
  4. We did it on Jewel in 2019. I was really looking forward to it, but was disappointed. The "murder" took place in one of the lounges; but we were then moved into a larger space to solve the murder during dinner. Unfortunately, not many people were interested in the story and it was a loud free-for-all (best I can describe it). No one paid much attention...instead visiting with their neighbors. I never did find out who the murderer was. Best recollection is that dinner was good!
  5. How in the world did I totally miss this fabulous review? Please don’t tell the boss, but I look at Cruise Critic at least a dozen times a day. And since I am sailing to Bermuda in a few weeks, my eyes should have gone directly to your review title immediately!!! Anyway, once again, I loved your review, wardrobe and especially your tiara. Happy belated birthday and already looking forward to your next review. Susan
  6. We are using the government provided tests. If you have looked at the Rapid Test and Trace website, you'll see a dropdown when asked about which test you are using. The government test is not listed; I typed it in next to "other", indiated that it was the government test and was accepted. FYI, that test box is very small. I plan to pack at least two of them! Perhaps someone else can answer about expired tests; I have read that many have gotten a three-month extension from the date on the box but can't remember where I read that...and don't want to give you bad info. Good luck.
  7. So sorry that happened...but can I say how great it is that your aunt is still sailing at 97??? Good for her!
  8. We did Celebrity Solstice a few years back and it was amazing. We flew to Honolulu for about 4 days pre-cruise...cruised around the islands with 4 stops (Maui was overnight) and then sailed five days across the Pacific to Vancouver. I loved the sea days...we booked SVs and were able to watch the sunset from our balcony every night. We chose the eastbound itinerary so that we could get the long (ten hour flight) out of the way...and then just four hours home at the end of the trip. That said...my mom and dad did NCL long ago and totally enjoyed that also! They likely would not have appreciated all the sea days so this worked for them. Any cruise that involves Hawaii with a winner! Enjoy.
  9. I couldn't sleep one night a couple of weeks ago...decided to put my time to good use...naturally my thoughts went to cruise clothes!!!
  10. The excitement starts the minute I make a reservation! I sail in 32 days...lists are made (months ago), clothes are pulled and ready to be ironed...new suitcase purchased... ARE WE THERE YET??????????😎
  11. Thank you again Mike. I’ve scheduled my test for August. Here’s hoping the testing process is as easy as the sign up process! And, of course, a NEGATIVE result 👍
  12. Thanks for this info. We were planning on ordering tests from eMed, but this sounds like a better alternative since we already have the government tests. I see we can schedule tests for 8/19, which is two days before boarding. We will already be in Cape Canaveral; no laptops, but if a phone can be used, we will use a ipad for a larger screen! Thanks again.
  13. Thanks...I figure Nassau is my best bet. Rather than a resort spa, I typically find someone on a public beach with a table set-up next to the water's edge...that's paradise! Susan
  14. Thanks. Yes, spa treatments on the ship are very pricey! Even with OBC, I can't make myself spend double what I pay at home. Our other ports on this cruise are Bermuda and Nassau, which will be my best opportunity to find a massage! Thanks again, Susan
  15. I am also enjoying Hotel Portofino on PBS. The pictures here make me anxious to return! Susan
  16. I am a huge fan of a beach massage when I cruise. There's just something about getting a massage with the waves lapping and warm ocean breezes! Does anyone who has been to CocoCay recently know if that service is offered? Thanks!
  17. Is this 2/9/23 ABC itinerary on Equinox? We booked a Celebrity excursion in Bonaire…a Viator excursion in Curaçao and will get to a beach in Aruba. I thought it’s odd also since excursions are available for all ports for December, 2023.
  18. We sailed on Reflection in January. No more individual bottles of shampoo/conditioner in the shower…only larger bottles mounted on the wall.
  19. My first cruise on Celebrity was in concierge because of a last minute upgrade...I didn't see the benefit. I'm also not a foodie so Blu would not be important to me; I am usually happy with the MDR or OVC! I am happy to spend a little more money to get a Sunset Verandah to enjoy the views of the wake. I am also a non-drinker so that perk doesn't benefit me.
  20. Our group did it on Jewel a few years back. The murder took place in a lounge; we were then moved into a space for the dinner and clues to try to solve the mystery (sorry, can't remember the names of the venues). The crowd quickly became disinterested and very loud. I was trying to follow along but couldn't hear anything. Pretty disappointed. At least the dinner was good!
  21. I'll be following along...I have twice sailed on Edge, both times in a SV...and have Apex booked for December, 2023, also in a SV. Can't lie...that's the only way to go! Also not a suite person; a "regular" cabin in just fine for this "regular" girl. We also got to meet Captain Kate on Edge...what a rock star! My friend and I brought little gifts for both her and Bug; she actually sent a gift to my cabin along with a handwritten thank you note. I remember thinking what a great job her parents did with her!!! Maybe I'll be sailing on Beyond someday! Susan
