Dawn interior room layout

Does anybody know how the cabin is laid out on a "sideway" cabin. Cabin 8612 or 8591 for an example? I can't find anything on any site. Thinking about going on a Canada / New England cruise next October. Have not cruised NCL before. Mitsugirly had one on deck 12 I believe and I was wondering if they all are laid out like that one.

Ok you don't - all the PR pics you see in the fancy brochures show an inside

cabin as a rectangle that you enter on the short side and look at two beds

either together or split apart at the far end of the cabin. The small foyer you

enter thru has the bath facility either on the right or left the other side will have

storage closets and cubical for the life vests.

A bit further into the cabin will be a small writing desk/table with the ships

inhouse TV system telephone etc. and below that in a cubby hole the mini-fridge.

Ok that is the standard inside cabin.

The cabins you are looking at are turned 90 degree and you enter in the middle

of the cabin on the long side.

To the right or left will be one bed or two twin beds* split apart.

Just in front of you will be TV communications writing desk mini-fridge etc.

On the opposite side will be the bath facility storage closets life vest storage.

Same features as the other cabins just orientated 90 degrees with entry in

the middle of the cabin instead of a far end.

*Feature to note - one of the beds will be next to a wall with a passageway

on the other side maybe noisy ?

The design of these cabins is great in that some have a wide entry door for the

handicap. The open area is immediately in front of the entry door instead of

being deep in the standard arrangement. If you have browsed the deck plan

of the NCL DAWN you will note that these cabins are centered near the middle

of the ship in the vicinity of elevators* and some of them have bends in the

passageway going forward or aft. Nice central location but with turns and bends

in the passageway.

* Elevators and the location can be an area of more noise and traffic.

There are not many of these cabins - 21 on Deck 8.

Pricing should be not much different from the standard inside cabin.

Thanks don't-use-real-name that's what I thought. In Mitsugirlys review she talked about the desk being much bigger so I wasn't sure if anything else was different.

The ones on 12 on Dawn/Star were newly added when they removed Spinnaker lounges back in 2011 and 2010 IIRC.

Most of the rooms on 12 that are insides appear to have the two beds on the floor and two on the walls - one on each side. I have not seen any other insides on Dawn/Star with this setup. I checked the site I usually use for cabin pics and they don't have the ones you are asking about.

NCL DAWN Deck 12 forward inside cabins - 22 - 18 with standard entrance

The two cabins that you mentioned, 8591 and 8612 are sideways cabins, where the door is in the middle of the room (quite). We have stayed in such and two ocean views on deck 8 and found it very convenient.

The side ways obstructed ocean view (8612) has slightly more space (about as wide as the door) between the sleeping area and the table/desk. These do not have the bigger/longer desk. The longer desk is in the OV's (obstructed ocean views) on deck 8 that are not sideways.

The Dawn is a fantastic ship and has an absolutely fantastic crew headed by one of the best HD's I have ever seen! You will enjoy NCL. We always do! :)

Yes, when you get a sideways cabin, it's pretty much the same as far as the "bedroom" to one side and the "bathroom/closet" to the other. There may be odds and ends differences here and there, but for the most part they are about the same.

We stayed in a sideways cabin on the Spirit once, but the Spirit is an odd class ship (and one of our favorite smaller ships to date) and the great thing about that sideways cabin was that the bed to one side also had a couch beside that. So, when you folded out the couch, it was like 1 big 3 person bed. LOL But still the same set up with the bedroom on 1 side and the bathroom area on the opposite side.

I would pick a sideways cabin any day over a regular cabin. :D

Just booked a sideways inside on Star for next March. Can't wait to see it!

I am staying on the Dawn in a sideways cabin 9115 in October.

I also have a membership to cruisedeckplans and for the life of me can not figure out how to look at these pictures. Where do I go? I tried pulling up the deck plans but they only show very few pictures of the entire interior cabins. Anyone have any advice?

How did all these pictures happen well cruisers took pictures of the cabins and

other ship features and had CDP assemble Albums. CDP pays a small token

for the rights to display the pictures if they are NEW and have not been used

before. The new NCL ESCAPE will be the ship to be on for a photo exposition.
