Rare MicCanberra Posted June 11, 2018 #76 Share Posted June 11, 2018 Yes, there will be a service fee for using a credit card, unfortunately. I can't remember exactly what Carnival charges but on our last Princess cruise it was 1.1%. The fees that most cruise lines charge normally range between 1 and 1.3%
banzaii Posted June 11, 2018 Author #77 Share Posted June 11, 2018 In my experience, you will need to discuss this with your room Steward, as well as along with your fellow cabin friends. Thanks Mic - will see how we go when we board. We may decide privacy is best. Cheers
banzaii Posted June 11, 2018 Author #78 Share Posted June 11, 2018 The new craft room "Soul Play" appears to be going gang busters. Every time I walk past its standing room only. Another thing of note for those a bit nervous of many sea days....the Spirit was jumping yesterday (Sunday), on our second of three sea days on the way to Bali. Bands playing in every spare room, trivia full houses, lectures, sport on the big screens...and to top it off...the crossing of the equator ceremony. In fact, it was difficult to get away from the action.Sounds so good I can hardly wait! :D Cheers
banzaii Posted June 11, 2018 Author #79 Share Posted June 11, 2018 Does anyone know if there is a service fee (%) for settling onboard accounts with a Visa/Mastercard?The website FAQs state "a service fee may apply...." TIA! CC fee was 1.1% when paying for the booking. Assuming similar for onboard account. Cheers
vozzie Posted June 11, 2018 #80 Share Posted June 11, 2018 Ironed out the wrinkles, indeed? I'll give an updated report on the dodgy suds dispenser later in the cruise. The feel is totally different to the last repositioning from Singapore...2 years ago. The demographic seems older, but more involved. Very few children onboard. I've never seen the casino used as much either...the pokies at least. Maybe there's a large group from Rooty Hill RSL onboard ?? The balcony dividers can definitely be opened, but as Mic suggested, check with your room Steward. Next stop...Bali tomorrow.....

The Sydney to Singapore cruise was also an older demographic with only 120 1-17 year olds on board. But same as you, very involved, although we managed to win 1 trivia and miss12 won the Harry Potter trivia. I was so impressed with the captain and hotel director when we got to Bali. As platinums we don’t have to line up for tender stickers, when we are ready we go to guest services and get taken straight down. We got there really early, 7am as we saw the tenders were in the water. Duncan, the hotel director saw us and said are you ready, come with me. The captain had gotten to Bali early, advised all the Balinese crew to be ready before 7 and filled 2 tenders with crew before 7:15 so they could go home for the full day. As guests we were told tendering started at 8 but we were on the first tender with the crew and the atmosphere was electric! I thought that this gesture was terrific. Enjoy the rest of your cruise! Obilix Posted June 11, 2018 #83 Share Posted June 11, 2018 So I have a question for anyone who has cruised recently on Carnival out of Australia. I have booked for 7 adults & 4 young kids for a 10 day cruise. I paid for everyone's cruise fare the other day, and the agent offered $1600 on board credit if I paid an extra $700. On the face of it, it's a good deal if I can spend it on drinks, coffees, soft drinks etc for all of us. Can I, or is the credit restricted to my cabin or myself only? Secondly, is any of it which remains unspent refundable? If not, or if you have to go through a long wait to get it back, does the trick I read about of transferring it to casino credit, and then cashing it in, still work? (Although I can't really see myself as a money launderer, and I don't gamble in casinos, or anywhere else, for that matter!) Any up to date advice or information is welcome and appreciated. Of course I'll ask the question of the TA before handing over more money, but the offer was made by email after my electronic payment, and sometimes you don't get told everything by the TA. OBC is for the first 2 people in the cabin so if you link your partners account to your one they should be able to use it normally OBC from the TA is non refundable so i open up an account at the casino and transfer the OBC to the casino and play a bit on the pokies and cash out Princess you can do that and i suppose Carnival will be the same

If is a smaller amount, you could always cash out at Guest services on the last evening.
