Thanksgiving on board

We have never sailed over any holiday, but this year we will be aboard the Oosterdam over the Thanksgiving holiday. Does HAL do anything special, except a turkey dinner ?:D

I only remember a nice turkey dinner and a fancy chocolate molded-turkey dessert. (Eurodam, Caribbean)

I noticed on one of our Thanksgiving sailings that at the entrance to the MDR, there was a beautiful and very large cornucopia sculpture made completely out of a variety of breads.

They do a spin on our traditional Thanksgiving dinner in the MDR. I remember turkey and stuffing, pumpkin ravioli, and pecan pie being on the menu.

On a couple of ships there were a few decorations in the Lido.

The entrance to the dining was decorated.

Same last year on Koningsdam, a smattering of fall/harvest type of decorations, and a fairly traditional turkey offering at dinner.

Canadians sailing over US Thanksgiving get it to celebrate twice in one year.

The pecan with chocolate bits pie with my HAL Thanksgiving dinner was the best pie that II have ever had.

Roz, not a thing except provide the ship. We are so thankful for being able to cruise as much as we have and this year we will celebrate our 63rd anniversary. We will give thanks for all our blessings.

Turkey and ham in the MDR for dinner. For some reason there was a raw turkey sitting in a decoration at the entrance. The food was fair, but at least they tried.

Last year we were on a cruise over Thanksgiving. A few decorations in the main dining room is all I remember, plus an option of turkey dinner on the menu. As I recall, the turkey wasn't all that great.

We have cruised over several Thanksgivings. No monster meal to prepare and no dirty dishes. The only downside is no left overs. Our family is spread out so it sure beats a Thanksgiving dinner for 2. I’m trying to convince DH we should sail over the holiday again this year 😉
