Can you buy hairspray onboard?!

Recommended Posts

Strange, I would think if they sell a toothbrush, which I forgot last cruise and was able to buy one onboard, they would sell some hairspray. I saw several toiletry items in one of the shops on the Harmony, just don't remember what all was there.

I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of my toothbrush. Was not ridiculously priced like I figured it would be.

If you go into the hair salon, they do sell hair products. However, often times they are low on supplies. Have even found hair spray in the gift shop- but again it is hit or miss. I would strongly urge you to bring everything you need with you as drug store type items can be three times what you pay at home, on or off the ship at the ports. This is especially true for sun block.

Thank you to both of you!

I checked all of the shops and no hairspray. Finally went up to the salon and all they had was extra firm and it was $22 (plus tax)... wasn't willing to splurge - with the Canadian exchange rate and Spanish VAT tax that's like $35!

Doubtful that I'll be able to easily find any in the Canary Islands, particularly as I'll be short on time with tours booked.

Ah well! Straight hair for the next 2 weeks! [emoji53]

Which Canary Islands are you going to? Gran Canaria has a big modern mall right as you leave the port area, Tenerife you are also in the town although a bit further to walk from the ship. If you have a spare hour in either you will easily find a shop that sells it.

Thanks everyone! Great ideas here! One of my tablemates has some that I can borrow, but I will still try to track some down in port so I don't have to bug her frequently! Haha!

We're going to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma.

Where exactly is the mall in Gran Canaria? I suppose I can wait another few days!

This is the first time I have ever forgotten something on a cruise! :(

You have to walk past the mall to leave the port on foot. It is over on your right as you leave, if you get to the main road you have gone too far. There are usually lots of crew heading there.

It's called Centro Comercial El Muelle if you want to google it for a map. There is a Hiperdino supermarket on the ground floor that would sell hairspray.

oddly enough i am pretty sure i saw some in a small store on deck 5. not the store that sells all the souvenir stuff but the one that has chips and sodas.

I checked that one! Which is also where the gentleman verified what I meant by hairspray (he knew what I was talking about) and confirmed they didn't have any!!! Lol!

Thanks so much for the details! If all else fails I will try there! Hopefully I have time to get over there! :)

Update! A fellow cruise passenger found a can of "laca" (Spanish for hairspray!) for me in Tenerife!

And I did easily find the mall today in Gran Canaria and they had it as well!

Thanks for all of your help!

Glad you managed to get some.

I've been following your wonderful review and every day I've wondered whether you've got any hairspray yet!

Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Actually, the hair spray I needed to buy at the beauty salon on Princess wasn't terribly expensive -- less than $15 and it was good. :)

Honestly, If I really needed and wanted the hairspray, I would pay the price up to what I felt was my limit. I see people play in the Casino and lose hundreds of dollars, so if I paid $35 for hairspray on vacation- so be it!!
