I agree. Sunshine sounds like the name a 5 year old would give a ship.

No..forget that, a 5 year old could do better.

The name that ship has is beautiful and I have NO freaking clue why they would change it to something so utterly mundane.

Well I am definitely not understanding the name change. I will say though that I like the itineraries due to the fact I can do a b2b2b of 21 days and only hit one port twice (Cozumel).

To me the name itself is not important' date=' but why the change in general? I am by no means a business man, but I do not understand the need to change the name. Perhaps John Heald will have the reasons why the Carnival execs made this decision in his official announcement today.[/color']

What I don't understand is why many of the major cruise lines copy each other's names. Carnival Destiny being changed to Carnival Sunshine - not long after RCI announced it's new Sunshine Class? Hmmmmm.

Why is the ship's name being changed anyways? Trying to clear its bad reputation?

When you rename a ship does it get a new Godmother?

I had always heard that it was bad luck to rename a boat. I don't know if this holds true for a ship or not.

I know I'm going to be the small minority here and I don't really understand why they are changing Destiny's name, but I don't HATE Sunshine:)

It is no more mundane than Dream, Magic and Breeze imo.
