Casino Question

Am I correct that it is like land casinos - with US$ (or OBC-credit on your ship account) you buy chips/machine coins, play with chips/machine coins, turn in chips/machine coins (that you won or did not spend) & you get back real US dollars in cash? Or does the casino put your cashback on your ship account? We want the cash. (good way to use the OBC given for a price drop)

You can use your OBC in the casino, but you will be charged 3% for everything you take out. You do need to go to the cashier in the casino to get the $$.

 

As far as chips, yes for tables they are used. For slots it depends on the ship whether it uses coins (real money e.g. quarters, nickels etc) or paper tickets.

On the Mariner you had to use real money.......and all the machines cashed out in coins........which you had to take to the casino and cash in........real old school........

I'll take old school dirty coins any day over a machine that makes some phony coin sound and gives me a slip of paper. It's just not the same.:(

On Jewel, there is a mix of machines, some that pay out in coins and others which kick out vouchers. Both types accept US currency, and the voucher machines will accept vouchers or cash. Check out which type of machine you are playing or you may have to go scurrying around looking for a bucket if you cash out a machine that pays in coins.;) The machines that accept and pay out in vouchers are my preference, since it is easier to move from machine to machine without the hassle of scooping out quarters and feeding the quarters back into another machine.;)

It's something that rarely occurs in the casino, but when it does, it usually happens to someone else or to the person who plays the machine into which I just pumped a ton of money.:D

All of the machines have a quota of the Max it pays you in coin! Usually it is 250.00, then an attendant comes to your machine and pays you in paper cash!

 

It is a pain if you take the machine up to 249.75 and cash in. A bucket holds about 150.00 in quarters and they can be heavy when filled to the top!:)

I am not use to the cash out in coin machines and was always stuck looking for a bucket:cool:

I also prefer the vouchers or the use of your card which you can download and upload to your bank how they have it set up on Carnival and Princess........

I like to move from machine to machine too. So I prefer TITO....ticket in, ticket out. It's been years since I've seen a slot machine that takes or gives back coins.

If I could be guaranteed that $250 payout, I'd overcome my objection to scooping out all those coins and lugging them to the cashier.:D Otherwise, I'll continue to prefer the machines that issue vouchers.
