NeurosurgeryNP Posted October 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Anyone just off the CB - Heard rumors over the summer that they champagne waterfall was being done in the evening in between dinner deatings over the summer. Is it still being done that way, and not in the late evening with the dance party and such?
framer Posted October 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2009 As of three weeks ago Sept 19th cruise it was early. NO FUN:( IMHO. But the rest of the cruise was great:D. framer
Colo Cruiser Posted October 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Anyone just off the CB - Heard rumors over the summer that they champagne waterfall was being done in the evening in between dinner deatings over the summer. Is it still being done that way, and not in the late evening with the dance party and such? This was the case on our last 3 cruises (different ships). I think they are all doing it around 7p to 8p. :)
LARGIN Posted October 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Agree with Colo.. The late night champagne waterfall party where you dance with the waiters and cruise directors is now a thing of the past
Pia1913 Posted October 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Just off the Coral. Early champagne waterfall there too.
NeurosurgeryNP Posted October 17, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted October 17, 2009 THat's a bummer. With first seating, we are likely to miss it. It is a highlight of our cruise. :(
JohnLauben Posted October 17, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2009 On the recent CARIBBEAN PRINCESS cruise, the champagne waterfall was held at 7:30 on the first formal night (Sunday ... night 2 of the cruise). Also note that this pre-empted the welcome aboard cocktail party. Traditional dinner seatings were at 6:00 and 8:15.
Colo Cruiser Posted October 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2009 And I think that stack of champagne glasses is getting shorter and shorter.
cdngrl Posted October 17, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2009 on the sapphire in may it was the same. no party, no fun. at least i know i can skip it now if there's something better going on.
TorontoTL Posted October 17, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Yes it was done that way on our CB cruise in September, in the evening and during our meal time. We missed it completely and were quite disappointed. I hope Princess goes back to doing it near the end of the cruise and later at night so it isn't during dinner time. I forgot to put that on my customer survey at the end of the cruise.
cruzinchris Posted October 17, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 17, 2009 On the recent CARIBBEAN PRINCESS cruise, the champagne waterfall was held at 7:30 on the first formal night (Sunday ... night 2 of the cruise). Also note that this pre-empted the welcome aboard cocktail party. You've answered the question that I had about the new time of the (cheap) Champagne Waterfall when someone posted about it on a live thread from the Emerald. I'm not surprised that Princess has opted to offer the bad bubbly in lieu of free cocktails and wondered if this was the case. Sailing next Sunday on the Emerald Princess :) Chris
caribill Posted October 17, 2009 #12 Share Posted October 17, 2009 It was held as part of the Captain's Welcome Party on the first formal night on both the Emerald in the spring and the Crown last month. And since it is timed to be between the end of first fixed seating and the start of second fixed seating, there will be many people eating in Anytime that will not be able to participate. (On the other hand, the atrium never could hold 3000+ people.) On the cruises with more than two formal nights, the last formal night also had a "Captain's Farewell Cocktail Party" which had the same cocktails that the Welcome Party used to have. Don't know if this is true on all ships.
kooljamming Posted October 18, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 18, 2009 The champagne waterfall was at 7 pm on the first formal night. We had first dining and had no problem making it on time. On the second formal night the they had the fun 'New Years's Eve" party. Here is a link to the party without the waterfall on the second formal night: http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/574562705JNDkZN
Putterdude Posted October 18, 2009 #14 Share Posted October 18, 2009 They did it early on our last cruise as well...it's become kind of non-event in our minds.
framer Posted June 8, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 8, 2010 I just went on my second cruise with this at 7:30 on the Sapphire in May, SUCK'd. Still no fun like the old days. They did have a 11PM party on the last formal night that was good but just not the same IMHO. framer
themerle Posted June 8, 2010 #16 Share Posted June 8, 2010 We missed it on our last cruise. We were at dinner.:(
captainron Posted June 8, 2010 #17 Share Posted June 8, 2010 This was the case on our last 3 cruises (different ships). I think they are all doing it around 7p to 8p. :) They have it planned whereby the champagne waterfall is done between the Traditional Dining Sittings to allow folks from both to participate. Guess there must've been too many complaints from "the oldies" that it was too late with the streamers and dancing with the crew. The CD generally introduces the senior officers and finally the Captain who says his words of wisdom from "Caesar's Perch" between the panoramic elevators overlooking Plaza Deck. It's a shame it changed as even up til 2008 it was an absolute blast dancing and singing with the crew and CD staff in the Atrium area with the balloons and streamers. Ciao for now!!! caribill Posted June 8, 2010 #18 Share Posted June 8, 2010 They have it planned whereby the champagne waterfall is done between the Traditional Dining Sittings to allow folks from both to participate. Just eliminates the Anytime diners who happen to be eating at that hour.

wezie Posted June 8, 2010 #20 Share Posted June 8, 2010 I am sailing CB in July and planned on doing the UBD this night, but would still like to see the champagne waterfall. Any ideas of what time I should schedulethe UBD?
C&F Posted June 9, 2010 #21 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I am sailing CB in July and planned on doing the UBD this night, but would still like to see the champagne waterfall. Any ideas of what time I should schedulethe UBD? It could have changed, but I think you only get a small window of time in which the UBD can be held. It believe it was like a choice of 7:00, 7:30, or 8:00. This was 3 years ago, so it may not be like that anymore. If you have never done this, it is also quite a long evening, so you may wanna book it on a different night if you want to see the waterfall. I would opt for the UBD over the waterfall. SandG Posted June 9, 2010 #22 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I am sailing CB in July and planned on doing the UBD this night, but would still like to see the champagne waterfall. Any ideas of what time I should schedulethe UBD? Watched it on the CB, Thursday, 5/28 :) It was scheduled for 7:15 but there was a problem building it and so it ran nearly a half hour late. The captain gave a short speech and then the rest of the time was spent with people getting their picture taken pouring champange into it. Like another post mentioned, it seemed shorter (less tall) than I'd remembered it last time.
gymjunkie Posted June 9, 2010 #23 Share Posted June 9, 2010 Yes early, but boring.....spend your time better at the dance party or the casino. Glasses were stacked for hours, people lined the stairs for 3 decks, and the captain came out for 3 minutes...
CALMOM Posted June 9, 2010 #24 Share Posted June 9, 2010 Hum, maybe several of the passengers should get together and make their own Champagne Glass Waterfall , wouldn't that be fun especially after a few drinks :D
