gehrandt Posted December 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2009 Has anyone stayed on the Plaza Deck? Any comments/suggestions? Our DD & DSIL have cabin P221. They love early morning lattes so figured that deck might be better then other ones.

I wanted to book 2 cabins on the Plaza for our upcoming trip but I couldn't get 2 next to or across from each other.
mailmama Posted December 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2009 We actually love this area. Have stayed in P231 two times! Its near the coffee bar area, lounging area and you have to go thru the art area to get to the rooms. Nice separation for noise and traffic. It just takes a few minutes to be near all the action and nice and quiet when you don't.
Aplmac Posted December 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2009 We just had four lovely days in Caribbean Princess cabin P241 on Plaza Deck! Want more!! You will love your Ocean View cabin on Plaza Deck 5. Btw, what is it with all these 2x1 cabin numbers on this thread? Here's what the Plaza Deck hallway looks like, right outside our cabin Sorry about all the bendy bits in these shots, but that's what a fisheye lens does in order to get everything in! - a few too many beers will have the same effect LOL! Here's the cabin itself, as you enter.. and other views.. I'm a bit motion-sickness-prone, but at this lower deck level we felt zero motion. Count yourself lucky you got this deck! . Pam in CA Posted December 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2009 One thing to be aware is that while the location is great, you might hear/feel the stabilizers if they are deployed. My daughter was in one of these cabins on the CB several years ago and it didn't bother her but did bother some of her neighbors who tried to get a petition signed to tell the Captain to not deploy the stabilizers. (Yeah, sure that worked.)

(Yeah, sure that worked.) How's that going to work? :D Everyone on the ship gets to suffer motion or motion-sickness because those who paid less, for lower deck cabins are inconvenienced? I don't think so! :D -never heard of this stabilizer problem before, but it is interesting, nonetheless. .
Pam in CA Posted December 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2009 -never heard of this stabilizer problem before, but it is interesting,nonetheless.. In some seas, the stabilizers can make a lot of noise and you'll feel vibration. It all depends on the seas and direction.

Yes, I imagine so. I'm pretty sure they're not just fins that stick out but once deployed out there they're also operated electrically with motors -in a rolling motion, counter-swell --probably computerized-- and what one hears/feels is those motors. I guess the few cabins located just over, fore and aft of that position would enjoy some interesting 'hull harmonics'! :D Location location location! ;) . Clutterlady Posted December 27, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 27, 2009 When we sailed on the Golden, we were on Plaza deck. Loved it, no noise, easy getting on and off the ship. Wouldn't hesitate to book again:)
mnbruce Posted December 28, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2009 Loved it, no noise, easy getting on and off the ship. Wouldn't hesitate to book again:) We have P336 on our Jan 24th Caribbean Princess cruise. It looked to me like the best spot for us if were not going to pay for a balcony. With five ports the easy access to getting on and off the ship is a plus for me.

Pia1913 Posted December 28, 2009 #15 Share Posted December 28, 2009 We just booked a last minute (January 23rd) on the Crown and took a G guarantee. They assigned us a cat. D Cabin; P-306. I am thrilled to be close to the IC for my coffee, but unfortunately that also puts my husband close to the donuts. ;) Your daughter and son in law will be very happy so close to their lattes. :D

mercedes28 Posted January 9, 2010 #22 Share Posted January 9, 2010 Do the windows open in an oceanview cabin? I'm thinking it will be stuffy and just wondering if I should bring a fan to circulate the air in such a small area.
