Hey! Wow third time huh? My family and I went on the Mariner this summer on August 8th. It was great! We had our favorite cruise director Kirk Detweiler. He's awesome! Well I just thought I'd tell you that some of the pictures are'nt showing up. Anyways enjoy the rest of your cruise! Until next time...

Radio:

Sounds like the weather is improving as you steam South-bound.

It is still in the mid 50's here at the port, with a stiff breeze. Quite cold for us Floridians, but at least no "white stuff" to deal with.

We will be boarding the lady on June 5th this year for my "ooooh my gosh!!!"

50th birthday that day we embark.

Being locals we also like make a point to venture down to J. J. Grills late in the afternoon on Sunny Sundays to cheer her progress on the outbound trip with cocktails in hand.

It's a tough job, but someone has to be on shore to cheer "ya'all" on!!

Cheers!

Radio-If you think about it, would you take a look while in port at Labadee and see if they have a masseuse there and of what gender??? I am going to try and get a massage at every stop and I think I remember seeing somewhere that it was offered there.

My other question is if anyone knows for sure if massage services are offered at Mahogany Beach in Ocho Rios.

Thanks for always being so willing to serve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lived vicariously through your thread last year before we sailed and here we are again and I am enjoying it equally as much, if not more!

Hello everyone ! Today was a very nice, very relaxing day at sea . The weather was good...not great (very Very windy). The Meet and Mingle was held at Ellingtons on Deck 14. About 25 people were there. It was nice to meet many of the people I spoke with before the cruise on Cruise Critic.

Several prizes were raffled off...including the popular Aqua Mouse. There is a group photo posted of us on my Cruise Photo Page. Open skating was also held today in Studio B on Deck 3. I was a little rusty, but managed to stay on 2 feet !

I was too late for the Slot Tournament...But I did get lucky on a new $1 machine...and won $160.Wow! That never happens......

Tonight is Formal night, with the Captain's Reception, and there will be Headliner Showtime with Judy Kolba in the Savoy Theatre (I will let you know how it is...) There will also be late night Comedy in the Savoy at 12:15AM.

Tomorrow should be lots of fun as Labadee always is...Lets keep our fingers crossed that the weather is pleasant. !

BTW...Captain Johnny announced tonight that the ship is full with 3642 passengers. WOW....That's alot of people...on one ship !

Until Tomorrow...Thanks for tuning in !

Radio;

I looked at my last post and due to my fat finger syndrome and poor typing skills even I didn't undestand my question......

Here goes again;

What is the cost to have an internet connection for the week?

Does it matter how much time or how many times you are on line?

How is the speed for a connection?

I have a 802.11B card in my laptop...does that help or is it hard wired?

Thanks for the updates and pics! We are taking our first cruise in May on MOS, and your updates make me even MORE excited.

Hi ORANGEinIndy....The Cybercabin Kit is $100. for the week for unlimited internet usage. The connection has ranged from 33.6kps to 48.6 kps. (Approx dial-up speed)

I leave my connection on at all times, but sometimes I have to restart...it only take a minute to do that.

Royal Caribbean On-Line (internet cafe) charges .50 per minute, and in Fuel (AdventureOcean) the charges are .25 per minute.

The connection in the cabin is fast enough for me to upload dozens of pics throughout the week, and great for email.

The connection is hard wired...however RCI is installing wireless repeaters throughout the ship so that all ships will allow passengers to use their 802.11b wireless cards anywhere on the ship including their cabins. Theis will be ongoing throughout 2005 and all ships should be completed this year.

Great play by play Radio. Thanks! I think I'll try the "in room hook up" on my next one if Empress has it.

I'll be very interested to hear how Simeon Baker does on this ship. He was on the Empress in Sept but because of the 4 nights in Bermuda, you didn't really see him much. His brother, Matt Baker is usually on the Enchantment and is a ball of fire. One of the BEST CDs I've experienced. I heard that Matt is going to vacation on the Mariner with his brother for a while. What a great time that would be! If Simeon is as good as his brother, then RCI is darn lucky to have them both.

I've not done a voyager class. Thanks for the great pics. They make me want to try out the "big ones" !

Thanks Faye ! I haven't seen or heard much of him. I met him on Sunday, and he seemed pleasant enough.

We have arrived at Labadee, on the North coast of Haiti, near Cap Haitien.

We anchored at about 7:50AM. The weather today is not starting off to be the best. It is raining, and the Captain suggests that it will be raining most of the day. It has been varying between a light shower to heavey rain. The weather forecast called for partly cloudy skies and 80f. We'll just wait and see.

Several tenders have already carried passengers to shore. The tenders are very big...each with the ability to hold up to about 250 passengers.

The Judy Kolba show last night was very good...She is very funny, and there is lots of audience interaction. I recommend the show. It is different than most shows with RCI...a mixture of Comedy, Singing, and Variety..al from one person.

The Captain continues to be the most visible RCI employee on the ship...He is everywhere...and very friendly and approachable. His attitude carries throughout the ship. Everyone has been extremely friendly and eager to help.

Today's in room movies are "Shrek 2" on Channel 20, and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" on Channel 21. In the Screening room on Deck 2 they will be showing "Around the World in 80 Days"

The last tender to the ship today will be at 330, and we sail for Jamaica (300 miles) at 4PM.

I'll be adding more pics later...

Hello everyone...It seems that the weather has taken a turn for the worse.

An announcement was made that the Labadee Barbeque lunch would be cancelled due to incliment weather. Then about 20 min later a second announcement was made that all passengers were being tendered back to the ship immediately.

About 200 passenegrs were able to make it to Labadee for only about and hour or so.

Yes..the decision was made to leave Labadee at 1030AM instead of 4PM. The winds and rain had become worse and several of the mooring lines have snapped.

We are currently at sea on our way to Ocho Rios, and expext to arrive there at about 8AM tomorrow. I'm sure that several other activities will be added for our new day at sea. We'll just make the best of it !! The Casino and stores are opening at 11AM now and weveryone is hoping for a sunny day tomorrow.

Updates and pics coming soon...

Thanks for tuning in !

Radio,

Too bad for the weather and having to leave Labadee early. Does that mean you will get to be in Ohco Rios longer??? I would have to guess not because they have set schedules for docking and what not... Looks like I just answered my own question. That is one of the hazards of cruising...you are always at eh mercy of the weather!! Im sure you don't want to upload anypictures from today with that bad weather and all.

Hope the weather will be better tomorrow and this will continue to run smooth...

Ill be tuning in!!!!

Thanks

Radio... we took a vote here in my office... and nope, we're not feeling sorry for the fact that you missed Labadee... no siree! :-)

Would I rather be on the ship (even in bad weather) or here at work in 14 degree weather? Take a wild guess!

Keep the reports coming... I'm enjoying them greatly!

Sure hope the weather looks better soon for you.

Labadee this is RCCl island isn't it? Because would they leave an island early somewhere else, my thinking is if you do your reservations on your own how would you know it's leaving early?

I sure hope your having a nice time at sea, and don't feel the bad weather.:)

Thanks for the good reviews keep them coming

Radio:

Thanks for taking the time to post all your great pictures & daily activities.

Sorry the weather cut your trip to Labadee short - last year on Navigator we skipped port altogether because of unrest in Haiti.

We are so looking forward to our trip on Mariner in March. Thanks again.

I really enjoy the play by play.

Just the opposite for us. Last fall aboard Mariner the hurricane (Jeanne) caused us to be at sea a few extra days so the captain chose to take us to Labadee even though we were originally scheduled the Eastern route.

I am sorry to hear the weather caused the trip to be cut short today though. Better safe than sorry. I remember Majesty passengers getting stranded on Coco Cay not too long ago because a sudden storm surged in.

I agree with you.....No compaints here ! ;)

Lot's of folks hanging around...Bingo , the Royale Promenade and the Casino is hopping. They have another movie for the Savoy Theatre at 2pm (Ladykillers).

The Spa , the Shops and Solarium are packed! I'll take a day on Mariner of the Seas in any weather over being at work !;)
