chitownGib Posted January 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2010 We're booked on the 2/20 Serenead of the Seas to Southern Caribbean. It's our first cruise - and we're booked in cabin 8590, on Deck 8, E3 (Veranda). Is this a good cabin? How do we check for others that might be available? Should we even bother? I assume that you booked through a travel agent, picked E3 as a good category, and let him/her get you a cabin? If you want to look at the deck plans, go to Royal Caribbean's website: http://www.rccl.com http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/ship/decks/deck/home.do?deckCode=08&shipCode=SR&shipProfile=1258&sailDate=1100123&hasNavigation=false In fact, this is a prime cabin. You have scored big time.
cb at sea Posted January 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Look at the deck plans...you can pretty much tell where you'll be. If you like the lower decks, then deck 3 is fine. We prefer being close to the pool, so we book deck 10.

KeywestK Posted January 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2010 You have a terrific cabin, and a wonderful ship for your first cruise. The Serenade is one of the four Radiance-class ships, which are the perfect size, easy to navigate, and they are absolutely gorgeous ships...and my personal favorite class of RCI's fleet. There are acres and acres of windows, so the focus is outward to the sea. Have a wonderful cruise, and please check back when you return and let us know how you liked it! firsttimeRCcruiserMay2010 Posted January 17, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Our TA just gave us our room assignment on the Mariner of the Sea. We are on deck 8 in cabin 8320. Did we do okay or should we maybe look for something else?
vickiw0318 Posted January 17, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2010 You have a highly sought-after "hump" cabin - a great one for your first cruise. (the "hump" is bowed out area you cand see on the deck plan.) Yours is even "center hump" meaning you'll have good views both forward and aft. In addition to the views, you'll be steps away from the stairs and elevators. Your TA did good.

ehfl Posted January 18, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2010 All cabins in the same class are virtually identical. Smart travelers always cary earplugs, so noise shouldn't be an issue (unless you are not a smart traveler).

Depending on the ship class, the balconies can be signicantly deeper. On Voyager class ships and Freedom class, the corner aft balcones cabinsare different than any other cabin in their class. coastiesNSW Posted January 18, 2010 #14 Share Posted January 18, 2010 Hi all, Wonder if you can help on this one too? We have been allocated 8058 which looks good to me as it is near to elevators and not under high traffic area, bar etc. My only questions are; 1. Being under the rounded section of deck 9 at that point - is that a overhang? Is it a problem? 2. Any problem noise from the whirlpool etc above? 3. any other noise concerns? I recall from last RoS cruise there was a bit of machine noise around that point on the ship, but maybe lower, like deck 5??? Hope you can help.
