mschuchu Posted January 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2010 We are going on the Carnival Triump :D Just wondering how many can be seated at a dinner table , we have a large family group going. Thanks
Rare Hlitner Posted January 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2010 The largest table we have seen on any cruise ship seated about 12, but this size table is rare. The most common size tables are 4,6, and 8 with some 10s. If you have a really large group you might try to meet with the maitre's as soon as you get on the ship and see if they can accomodate your crowd. klfrodo Posted January 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2010 If you all want to be seated together, either at 1 table if possible or with 2 tables next to each other the magic word is "Linked". Someones TA or someone has to have everyones "Booking Number" and they have to have all of them "Linked"
paul929207 Posted January 23, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2010 You want to check with your group when you board to see if you all have the same table. If not, you can go to the Maitre 'd and try to get it changed.
Starr Mtn Posted January 23, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Personally, don't wait until you board the ship. Your Travel Agent can request the appropriate size table for your group ! She/he may even have a map of the table layout on each dining floor. As recommended above - the TA must link all the passengers in your group together . It will be much more difficult to wait until you are on board the ship. These table assignments are made a few days ahead of time. You also might want to consider 2 round tables of 6 - adjacent to each other. Smaller tables make conversation easier. And you can even change tables during the cruise - so that your group can visit at different times.
kitty9 Posted January 23, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2010 The only table I've seen for 12 on Carnival is the Captain's table and regular guests cannot have that table. For a group as large as yours I would request two tables of 6, where you can switch and move around on different nights. With tables larger than that, you're really not able to converse with each other easily, but with tables for 6, it's a lot easier to talk with everyone. simplelife Posted January 23, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2010 We took a family cruise on RCI and had a table for 12. It was one of the long rectangular ones, and sat perpendicular to the window of the MDR. Our TA had specified at the time of booking that we all wanted to be together. On our last cruise (HAL) we were near a large family group of similar size who has a similar setup.
cb at sea Posted January 24, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Definitely "link" your booking/reservation numbers...that way, you won't have to worry about doing it on boarding day. A 12-top is fine...some are oblong...some are oval/round...just re-arrange where you sit everynight, in order to talk to everyone... There are probably folks in your party that you'd rather NOT sit beside! A large table makes that quite possible!
