Is 11:00 AM too early for NY

Hello everyone,

I have read where people like to get to the ship wicked early. My question is: Is 11:00 AM too early?

I am sailing on the Glory out of NYC on June 6th.

My husband and son are going to check out a Mets game after they drop me off, so I can't get there much later than that. Without some other arrangements.

11:00 am is the perfect time to arrive at the pier. You should probably be aboard by noon. If your husband and son are joining you on the cruise, they will never have enough time to make it back to the pier.

The Carnival ships usually leave at around 4 pm. All passengers need to be aboard 90 minutes prior to departure. It will take well over an hour to get from Citi Field where the Mets play to the cruise terminal.

If it's just you though, you're fine, earlier is always better.

Thanks so much for your response.

No my husband and son are not going on the cruise with me.

I am getting very excited for this trip now :D

Usually the earlier you get to the pier, the earlier you get on the ship:D One hint I learned from the CC boards a long time ago is to pack your bathing suit in your carry on. Then you can lay by the pool if you want to change in the bathroom. You won't get your luggage for a few hours later.

Wow - You had me scared for a moment.;) 11:00 should be fine. We usually arrive between 11 and 11:30 and are aboard by noon or a little later. We're sailing on Glory in September - it'll be our 7th cruise out of New York.

  • 1 year later...

Just made my down-payment today -and we are booked

in lowly interior cabin 2329 on a nice stable lower level, amidships

where she can rock all she likes but I'll still be :D :D

CP-NYC-731.jpg

Caribbean Princess at Brooklyn -is this where Glory will be?

Just want to find out what time of day Saturday Oct. 8th.

Glory is likely to leave New York (Brooklyn, right?) --is this Red Hook??

-and what time of day on Sat. Oct. 15th. we're likely to be disembarking.

From comments above, it seems that boarding sometime around noon is 'ballpark'.

Checkout from my downtown Manhattan hotel is 11 o' clock -so this should tie in nicely?

And when we get back the following Saturday, I guess we'll be off the ship by about noon..

hotel check-in is not before 1 p.m. I think

so I'm just getting a handle on my times of day, coming and going

if anyone has done this for Glory's last cruise for the season.. Oct. 8th. to 15th.

No...the Carnival Glory will not be leaving from Red Hook, Brooklyn. It will be at the Manhattan cruise terminal on 12th Ave, 48th to 54th St. Typically, ships start boarding around 11:30 or noon, and generally sail between 4 and 5 pm. You will get the exact sailing time with your cruise documents. When the ship returns, everyone will disembark no later than 9:30 or 10 am, assuming the ship arrives between 7 and 8 am.

Thank you so much for clarifying several things!

I've now fired up Google Earth and had a look around that street area

-it's very close to where the INTREPID is docked, on the Hudson!!

I'm so glad I asked --oh Man I was miles away! :D

According to Google MAPS, the address is

92 North River Piers

New York, NY 10019-5399

Tel: (212) 246-5450

so's we all know,now. ;)

Yes, the cruise terminal is adjacent to the Intrepid Museum.

I haven't heard the term "North River Piers" used in about 50 years. ;)

The address suggested by the port operator is 711 12th Ave. You can learn everything you need to know about the Manhattan and Brooklyn cruise terminals at www.nycruise.com .
