On our way to the Emerald Princess.

have a great time and enjoy the nice warm weather. :)

i had to go through the full body scanner in vancouver a couple of months ago--i felt sorry for the person who has to see THAT! it was random who the computer chooses to have to do that or a pat down or who just seems to get to go through. 'random' always means ME. its now a joke, that if its the most intrusive, lengthy and embarrassing search or question its gonna be me. its an adventure now to see what happens this time.

i once had a security guard who didn't speak english that well and i didn't understand most of what she was saying. i did pick out 'room'. i said 'no, i'm fine' and was patted down in front of everyone. i figure that's safer than being alone in a room with them!

i was really patted down in santa barbara trying to get back on the sapphire--i joke that there's a security guard there who i think i'm now engaged to!

i hope your cruise is relaxing and wonderful.

Have a great cruise! I've got a terrific app on my iPhone so I can track where the Emerald is throughout the day. :) ROFL! I also check it for the wedding chapels and have viewed several weddings, including crew getting married. I feel like a voyeur. :)

I saw that advertised and wondered whether to get it. Sounds as though it could be very interesting :D

We have made it to the airport after a very early start this AM (before dawn). It's only been about 6-7 months since our last flight, but my how things have changed. We just got through security, and we didn't realize MCI had switched to the X-Ray scanners. I was wearing my jeans with the snaps on the back pockets. So after being X-Rayed, the snaps must have triggered a pat down. They offered to take me behind a screen for the search, but I told them it was fine and not needed. I got my backside patted down totally, and the female security guard and DH & I had a good laugh about it. I asked her if it was good for her, and she replied that if she smoked, whe would need to step outside for a smoke after that one. LOL What a way to begin a cruise. :)

From now on, I wear something with no snaps and only one zipper for all flights. All belts had to be removed, watches, wallets, any large necklaces or metal besides rings. Nothing at all in your pockets, and of course shoes off.

.

Hi Toto. I hope you and Jim have a great cruise.

I know about the security changes. We just spent two weeks on a land vacation to England & France with our MG friends, and with two titanium knees, and a staple in my sternum from heart surgery, I was a prime suspect. In Newark,besides the full body pat-down, everything was removed from my carry-on and checked. It took about 15 minutes. In London coming back to the USA, I was subjected to the full body scan machine. I just hope nobody died laughing after examining the images.

Again, enjoy your cruise.

There's been

The Wedding Singer;

The Wedding Date;

Wedding Crashers;

Now, coming to a theatre near you, The Wedding Voyeur. Starring Meryl Streep as Pam and George Clooney as Captain McCharming.

Ohhh... make that Matt Damon and you're on!

I saw that advertised and wondered whether to get it. Sounds as though it could be very interesting :D
Yeah. I use it all the time. :) Silly me. I watched the Emerald sail out to sea this afteroon. It's way cool. I don't have to be in front of a computer screen. The one I have is called "Cruise Cams." Love it.

Toto, have a great cruise after that awful airport experience. I was patted down once and it made me feel awful and violated, yuk. I would much prefer the body scan..... they have to look at me, I don't.

The number of first time cruisers is very high last week & this week so there's a good chance of being invited to the Captains lunch next Saturday as the total number of days requires was around 150 and probably the same this week.

Only 65 kids on board. :D and there very hard to find.

Got it! Thanks for the app name.

Might keep me off brainchallenge2 for a while. :rolleyes:

As we are about to head into Princess Cays. I did attempt to post a full report yesterday but it poofed before I could get it sent. So, with this low connection I have from my suite, I think I will wait until I either have more time or wait until we get back home.

The sun is shinning and we are supposed to have a glorious day (weather wise) for the island, so we are heading in.

Will check back in when I can, just wanted to let you all know that all is well, the suite is great (although very noisey, thank goodness for ear plugs at night).

The full body scanner must have been new in the last couple weeks! We flew out of MCI to go to Kentucky for our sons basic training graduation and they didn't have them then. Or at least we didnt have to go through them because they had a single line that branched off taking you to the left or right to 2 different security screening lines.

We will be on the Emerald in 2 weeks! So excited to get away from this misserable Kansas/Missouri weather! Going on the second week of no sunshine here. Just dreary overcast or rainy days!

Beautiful Day here at Princess Cays, in the 90's when we finally came back to the ship. Water was super Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr and not too many in the water.

Only problem. I returned from Princess Cays without my digital camera. I placed it in my bag early this morning, got to the beach, put my bag on a chair and walked about 20 feet to the water to stick my toes in to see how cold it was, within that time, someone had to have lifted it out of my bag. No way it could have fallen out (IMHO) as I never sat my bag down once and had it in my lap while on the tenders. So, a good reminder to everyone to not turn your back on your things, not even for two minutes. Which sadly means that if I don't find one to replace it onboard, or in St. Martin or St. Thomas, there won't be any pictures of this trip to post. :( After 40 cruises, this has never happened to me, never had anything taken, stolen or lost. But I have no one to blame but myself.

Breakfast at Sabatinis was fantastic this AM, as to be expected. And the noise from the pool deck above seems to be getting more violent as the cruise goes on. ;)

Having a wonderful time, wish you all were here.

I really hate to hear about your camera being lifted. What sucks even more, is knowing that someone on your very cruise is the one that did it. I'd be as upset about losing the photos already taken as the camera itself. Ugghhhhh. I hope you're able to find a good deal when you get to St. Martin on Wednesday.

Toto sorry to hear about you camera.

In St Thomas and St Marten there is a shop called Royal Caribbean (not affiliated with the cruise line) that sell electronics and other stuff.

Be the first customer since for some of their workers that if there i a sale to the first customer the it will be a good day.

I saved $50 on a $300 and got some good pointers. Also if they offer a carry case get it and a plastic bag to protect the camera sine it can and does rain,

Although we were sure it was gone for good. I made a stop down at the photo shop to see if they sold any waterproof ones, Nope, they don't anymore. The purser's desk was supposed to call if anyone turned the camera in, but after serveral hours of waiting, no call. I decided to stop by on my way back to the stateroom, and Karla (the sweety) at the purser's desk said "you reported this earlier right?". I told her I did. And she asked me to describe it and what it was in. The moment I did, she smiled from ear to ear.......................and just kept smiling. Then she walked over to the safe. lol She said "I HAVE IT".

Now, she wouldn't tell me where it was found, or how it got turned in, but indeed it was my little digital camera, and her and I laughed as we looked through the pictures on it of our new little miniature donkey baby, my granddaughters prom, etc. Yes, I had forgotten to delete all of the old pics on it. Needless to say, I am now thrilled. I know I didn't drop it, I know it wasn't misplaced, so how it ended up turned in is beyond me. And I really don't care, all I know is that the pictures are safe, and so is my camera. My husband is still shaking his head saying "How lucky is that, I am sending you to the casino tonight". lol I think I will take him up on that offer.

So, all is well and the pictures we took of this PH suite and all are safe and will be posted later on.

Just thought I would check in and let you all know that it worked out very well, and I am smiling now.

BTW-I am saving all the Princess patters, airline check in from the ship info etc. So when I have more time, I can share the info I have with anyone interested. ;)
