I cruised last year on Victory and thought I had signed up for players club but could not remember so I called and found out I have a $40.00 credit waiting for me in the casino I know its not much but at least its something and hey it will let me play for awhile for free. Thanks to the OP for posting this or I would have never known.

You must play alot and you will get a few perks. Don't forget to sign up for "Grazie" if you play alot. Just google Grazie its a deal with 2 hotels in vegas. I have got wine at the MDR and baskets and choclate covered strawberrys just like we get with the Platinum perks, free drinks. Like everything else you do have to play and they notice you. You also can get special cruise price from OPC with credit for the casino, only ever got one of those jumped on that with 4 feet. You just never know what you will get but in the long run you really pay for it. You don't win on every cruise.

Thanks so much for the information here. I was emailing the wrong place.

Since we cruise from New Orleans on Friday I decided to call the 1-800 number someone here provided and ask if there was any past player perks.

The lady looked me up and said "you qualify for a Bon Voyage Package valued at $50. In includes a photo coupon, drink coupon, Chocolate strawberries and a bottle of champagne to be delivered at embarkation"!

As this is our 35th Wedding Anniversary trip, I was very pleased.

I asked her if she wanted my January booking # and she advised me to call AFTER this trip because I would probably qualify for more. I appreciated that.

1 phone call, less than 5 minutes and my anniversary just got sweeter!

Thanks again CCers for your advice and help. We've cruised many times and never knew to ask for or expect any perks till now.

I'm not exactly sure what "points" are accruing from my past cruise, but this is what Serena Webb replied to me advising:

Thank you for contacting the Ocean Players Club!

You are a member of the Ocean Players Club! Your points continue to accrue throughout your cruises, and remain valid for a period of 24 months.

I just insert the card and a $20 when I walk through and enjoy my time on the ship. Nice to know someone..or something is tracking my spending. :p

Thanks for letting us know the outcome of the call. Nice to have a little Anniversary gift to look forward to. I was wondering what the Gift Package would include. Sounds good!! :p It's my birthday cruise also so it will not go to waste :D

I wonder what the gift is.

I also received this e-mail before my last cruise and did not receive anything. My mom received a plate of Chocolate covered Strawberry;s

I too have never gotten anything from the Ocean Player's Club, and I am registered with them.

I will be sailing in 6 weeks, and also would like to know what the email address is so that I can let them know that I will be on board.

Thanks!

Why?

I've never been a big fan of any of the players clubs - I don't bother with them as a lot of employees don't know how to properly rate players on the tables.

I definately would not call it lame or a hassle - Have always introduced ourselves to the Casino Host and Pit Bosses the first night. From then on they all know us and hubby & I drank for free the entire last cruise. Anytime we entered the casino, a server was asking us if we wanted a drink. That was, by far, the cheapest Sail & Sign bill we've ever had.

So....if you like to gamble, even a little, take the time to make yourselves known. It'll be worth it.

Yes they certainly will give you free drinks.

I was really speaking to being "rated" , On table play you must play 4hrs per day with avg bet of 25.00 .

Once rated and depending on your ranking there are benifits OBC, upgrades, and comps.

The process is each time you sit You need to make sure they know it.

I completely understand the free drinks, I do like to gamble but when I do

I dont drink ( lol) , now after I'm finished thats a whole different ball game.

Dont get too excited... being rated on a Carnival Cruse is not that big a deal... Everyone gets the same letter when they put in their information on the website AND ONLY if you qualify for more, will you then get another letter upon arrival to your cabin... Also, you really don't have to sign up anymore... Once you are booked on a cruise, the Ocean Players Club (or whatever they call themselves these days!!) is made aware that you are coming back...

Then it depends on many coins you put into the machines during your cruise... 10,000 being the minimum... Obviously, you can play the penny machines and then you might qualify for a free drink and 500 points on your card... The more you play, the more you qualify for... I received some $$$$$ at the Cashiers Window, my Casino Host offered me free drinks all week long on the Freedom (the first time in a long time) and I also got a $15 Photo Coupon. I was offered and turned down the Champagne and the Chocolate Covered Strawberries... I was also told that the minimum gift value for the penny player w/10,000 or more coins is $50....

A true "rated player" on Carnival is indeed the player who sits at a table for a minimum of 4 hours each day of the cruise and bets a minimum of $25 per hand... Those are the passengers that not only get free drinks continually, get a bag full of gifts at the end of their cruise (Carnival watch, pens, visors, cards etc) BUT they also get a free cruise....

That would be my husband & I at the 3 card poker table. We have received everything mentioned except the free cruise. I highly doubt that will ever happen

...and maybe you don't want it to happen as I'm guessing the amount of losses needed would pay for a cruise anyway......

  • 2 weeks later...

I was on NCL in March and spent lots of money!!! Will that count toward a Carnival cruise I have coming up in Sept.

Also, I used my **** card everytime I sat at a table to get rated. Does this count toward the Ocean players club.

Any help would be good... thanks

Our strawberries were waiting in the room on embarkation but no champagne. :(

We went to dinner the first night and they brought us champagne. Yeah, instead of strawberries & champagne on the balcony at sail away; we shared champagne with 6 others at our table with dinner. It's all good.

Then, she came back and gave us a photo coupon...then she came back and gave us drink coupons. It got a bit embarrassing after awhile crew coming up asking for me and giving us gifts; but we DID get them from the Players Club. We weren't even planning on going to dinner the 1st night. Glad we did now. :)

Not sure if we would have gotten them had we not gone to dinner the first night.

Paddy Anne...

I sent an email to Princess after my recent Carnival cruise to ask if they combined points and gave comps bases on ALL play. We are cruising with Princess in a couple weeks and I was hoping for "something anything".

I got an immediate response telling me that my husband and I each would be given $25 cash for the casino. They said they do not give the Bon Voyage gifts as Carnival does. (fine by me; I don't have to share the cash with my dinner companions! lol)

I asked and was told that while all players club play was connected; each ship comped based on what that particular line's policy was.

I would definitely go to the site and email Carnival and give them the information on your cruise. I have been on 8 Carnival cruises now and gambled on all. Until this cruise we had no clue we could get comped for play. THANK YOU board for the information. :)

I am going on the Glory in November and definitely plan on contacting the players club ahead of time to see if I have any perks coming. I certainly enjoy gambling and have probably spent quite a bit in the casino during my past two cruises (one each year in the past two years). This year I started to receive vouchers for 4 free nights at a VIP suite in Las Vegas through Carnival as well as $100 food vouchers. I have received several of them throughout the year. Has anybody else received these? I wonder If I gambled more then I thought that I did.....I'm sure I did.

We got this and were not sure if it was legit and since we have family in Las Vegas we figured we had nothing to lose by trying it and if was a scam we would just walk out and stay with family. It was great. We had a beautiful suite, free dinner, and free play (think it was $150 but I forget now) We were happy. Only once did they approach me on the Victory (Oct 2009) and give me a free drink, and slot play (the letter was in our cabin and I brought it to the casino) Before that, nothing, and nothing on the May cruise on the Dream. I have never contacted the Players Club and certainly will for our upcoming cruise on the Splendor. Thanks for all the info.

I just now got off the phone with Serena from the Ocean Players Club. I asked if the Grazie/Ocean Players club cards are linked and she said they still are, but they are working on a new program. I asked if I would still get the offers from Venetian/Palazzo from my play on Carnival, and she said "yes", if my play warranted the offers.

However, since my last cruise was in Sept. 07, they would not look at my play from then. They only look at your last 24 months, so no Bon Voyage package for me. She did say to go up and introduce myself to a host though, so I'll do that. The last cruise a host came up an introduced himself to me and my drinks were comped the rest of the cruise.

Interesting... this was the note I got from Michael at OPC a few weeks ago:

Our marketing agreement with the Venetian was for a limited time and has now ended, therefore points on future cruises cannot be transferred to Club Grazie points. However, your points are all eligible for the promotion, and can be transferred until December 31st, 2010. Points earned at the Venetian casino cannot be transferred to OPC points.
