GreenValleyDogWalker Posted August 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2010 We are looking at a Princess itinerary that departs from Quebec City - We fly out of Tucson, Arizona - using FF Miles on American Airlines - which will only get us as far as Toronto. Not sure how to best get from Toronto to Quebec (want to spend a couple of days pre-cruise in Quebec) Is there some sort of a bus service from the Toronto airport to Quebec ?? Or other transportation ???? Any suggestions are welcome !! Thanks __________________

gacomeau Posted August 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2010 These cities aren't exactly convenient to each other, about an 8 hour drive apart. You could take Via as Scott mentioned, but I'm not sure it would be much quicker. You might want to check westjet.com to see how much a flight between the two cities would cost. scottbee Posted August 9, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2010 Check out Porter Airlines, who fly from the other Toronto Airport to YQB. While you'd need to get from Toronto Pearson/YYZ to Toronto Billy Bishop/YTO; Porter have an excellent reputation flyporter.com

Much more convenient to Quebec, and it takes the same amount of points that a flight into Toronto would use. There's a bus link between YUL and the main Quebec City bus station, which is very convenient to the cruise port (much more than the airport is, actually), and the cost is about $50 I believe. Air Canada and Westjet fly from the same airport as AA (pearson) Porter flies from downtown Toronto Island Airport. Both are quoting about $100 plus the usual and sundry surcharges. A taxi from Pearson airport to Porter's location would be another 50 or so. Toronto to Quebec by train or bus might take 12 hours plus depending on connections. In any case, Quebec city is unique and delightful. You will be glad you made the effort.

The difference in airfares would be less than $30 when flying from Tucson. Even flights to Quebec City wouldn't be much more. The only difference would be connections and layovers. Taxi from Pearson to Island Airport would likely be much more than $50 - especially if there is traffic.

bunnyette Posted August 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2010 Unless you want to add a long day's journey - then yes - fly directly into Montreal - it is only about 2 hours to Quebec City. You will get to Quebec nice and rested.
GTJ Posted August 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2010 If you have a desire to see Toronto then do fly to Toronto and then go overland to Quebec City. Toronto does have much to see and do. But if you have no particular affection for Toronto, then as others have advised it would likely better suit your plans to fly to Montreal. Going overland, here are your options. Generally, bus service operates more frequently than rail service, and if rail connections do not work well, you might consider rail for one leg and bus for another leg. If you travel from Toronto to Quebec City, then regardless of your choice you will have to change in Montreal. The bus and rail stations in Montreal are separate, but are close to each other, connected by subway, transit bus, and taxi. Between Toronto and Montreal (6 to 7 hours travel) Via Rail Canada, http://www.viarail.ca Coach USA (a/k/a Megabus), http://www.coachcanada.com Between Montreal and Quebec City (3 hours travel) Via Rail Canada, http://www.viarail.ca Orléans Express, http://www.orleansexpress.com
