mina Posted September 22, 2010 #226 Share Posted September 22, 2010 my favorite secret -- if you order the alfredo pasta (really good) ask them to serve in in a Parmesan bowl -- comes in a crispy melted cheese bowl -- how fun!
cruiseron36 Posted September 22, 2010 #227 Share Posted September 22, 2010 Wow how nice! I wonder if other cabin categories can do this also other than the mini-suites and up. This is only a full suite perk. The poster got lucky with a room service mistake.

jlp20 Posted September 23, 2010 #229 Share Posted September 23, 2010 OK, got a few. If you want to take your own soda, buy the 12 or 24 can "box". Use duct tape and reinforce the edges and corners and "make" a handle. Put a luggage tag on it and put it with your checked bags. No trouble and it's delivered to your cabin. weggs Posted September 23, 2010 #230 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Sounds like the playing cards have gone the way of the "free" postcards that used to be available. We still love Princess. Have you ever ordered the "Volcano"? It's a banana split like sundae from the kids menu, but my husband never misses it.
jlp20 Posted September 23, 2010 #231 Share Posted September 23, 2010 On every Princess ship we have found the standard two outlet electrical outlet behind the TV. Unplug the TV, plug in a powerstrip and plug in the TV. 5 free outlets and a shelf for all the rechargeable items we bring along. The 4 outlets at the desk are very close together. Some newer plugs are so wide, only one plug will fit at a time. I now pack a couple of old fashioned "outopus" from the $.99 store. The plug in the bathroom is marked for electric razor only. This is for something with very low amps. Perfect for the battery charger for the "AA" batteris for the cameras.
jlp20 Posted September 23, 2010 #232 Share Posted September 23, 2010 I have found bins of playing cards in the Game Room on every cruise. Past several years the staff have torn off the top flap of the box the cards come in. Cards are there to use on the cruise, hard to take home as a gift with the flap torn off. jlp20 Posted September 23, 2010 #235 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Menus are set up weeks if not months in advance. Every front desk of every restaurant has a three ring binder of the week’s menus. The menus are loaded into the binder for your cruise before you board. On the first day, we simply ask to see the week’s menus and look over what’s happing for the week. We then make our plan for the week there and then. What night would work for Sterling, any rush to get back to the ship on port days or does Horizon Court look good. jlp20 Posted September 23, 2010 #236 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Sabatini and Sterling serve fresh deserts that are not usually on the menu of the main dining rooms. At the end of the night when they close down 10:00-10:30, most of the deserts are taken up to Horizon Court. Nothing to plan your evening around, but if you’re in the area it’s something to check out.

Not always, when you don't think to ask for the basket, then it comes without it. Happened to us last time. Don't know why sometimes it comes and sometimes it doesn't. I have always found it at every MD station at the main entrance of any of the restaurants. I have only been asked why I wanted to view the book once and it has always been produced within seconds. Only problem is they are simply in order, not marked Sunday, Monday… We learned to take paper and pen and make notes since a faulty memory can screw up a night’s plans. Astro Flyer Posted September 23, 2010 #240 Share Posted September 23, 2010 I'm a little confused. Everywhere on this board I read that bringing wine on board is permissible and even states this in the cruise contract. I know other lines don't allow it but in all my research as a Princess newbie I've read that you can bring wine, champagne, soda/pop, or water on board, per Princess. I don't want to start a big debate about that here, just looking for soemone to confirmthis, as there are now 2 posts by seperate posters joking about "who would ever bring wine onboard?" Just want to clear it up for us newbs - also it might be considered a tip/secret to some! :) Have also brought on a 6-pack of beer with no problems
Astro Flyer Posted September 23, 2010 #241 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Since Princess cabins have mini-fridges, we bring a small Pur or Brita filter container because we enjoy lots of water. We also mix some of the filtered water in containers with Crystal light tubes which are the perfect size. Also a small glowing type of night light, gives a enough light to see around your cabin in the middle of the night.

luvinretirement Posted September 23, 2010 #243 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Have also brought on a 6-pack of beer with no problems We always bring wine and beer on board -- when we got stuck in Chile because of the earthquake in March we had lots of time to buy bottles of Chilean wine at a very reasonable price -- we just get wine glasses for our cabin -- we pick up local beers and wines along the way. Haven't had any issues with beer, wine or soda.
AlFrank Posted September 23, 2010 #244 Share Posted September 23, 2010 and it is called PUREX 3 IN 1. Use it with our FL washer so no pouring 2 TBSP detergent each load & softener for each load. Now just throw the sheet in & all goes into the dryer & use it to clean the dryer filter. Be sure to clean the dryer filter on the ship too so no fire like we had on Carnival Ecstacy. Use these sheets for all vacations, so easy, no problems, no mess.
mina Posted September 23, 2010 #245 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Thanks. I will remind my wife to ask for it. Boarding on Friday. She will probably have it half the time. My last waiter told me that if you order it as a side or appetizer it does NOT come with the bowl. Don't know if that is true or not -- I have had it as entree and not gotten the bowl. So - I always err on the side of asking for it.
dd57 Posted September 23, 2010 #246 Share Posted September 23, 2010 On the Star earlier this year, I found another way to pay for the coin laundry. The casino tokens work in the laundry machines. So although the change machines in the laundry didn't work, the token machines in the casino did. A very helpful crew member in the casino told me this one. Slot machines pay by putting any winnings on your cruise card. You can then use the card in another slot machine or get cash at the casino cashier. ckornuta Posted September 24, 2010 #249 Share Posted September 24, 2010 More of a helpful hint than secret, I found a cheap plastic suction cup tray works great in the shower. You no longer have to hang your backside over the sink while reaching for your shampoo  I found mine at a local Discount Drug Mart for $4. It is light and easy to pack. http://www.kohls.com/upgrade/webstore/product_page.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524861939861&pfx=pfx_shopcompare&cid=shopping3&mr:trackingCode=571C6FB2-76B7-DE11-93DB-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA Paul
