Lancer1568 Posted October 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Recently returned from the Oct 16 - 23 sailing of the Caribbean Princess. Great Cruise, Great Ship, Great Ports etc., but one problem was with show times. We had late traditional dinner seating at 7:45 and the welcome aboard show was at 7:00 and 8:45 and at least two other nights a show was offered at 7:00 and 8:30. So even though they are offering the show twice to give everyone a chance to see it, they basically exclude anyone eating at the late traditional seating. What's up with that? The shows that were scheduled at 7:00 were intended for the traditional late seating passengers. The shows are rarely longer than 50 minutes and then you go straight to dinner. Even a 30 minute show would not give you time.

dfields1814 Posted October 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2010 This why you should consider ATD. If you can pick your dining time, showtimes are not an issue.
paul929207 Posted October 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2010 On our cruises, late seating has been at 8:15pm (Ocean Princess). That worked great with 7:00 shows.

Based on several threads, it seems that several ships have been moving forward the traditional dining times so that the traditional late is as early as 7:45 PM. Nobody seems to have coordinated this with the Cruise Director who schedues the shows.
Pam in CA Posted October 30, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Sounds like a poor CD. They are the ones who schedule the shows and if they aren't aware of what time dinner is, that's just plain poor planning... Which is their primary job. Rare Woobstr112G Posted October 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Since we don't like going to a show before dinner, we rarely see main shows anymore. We usually hit the Explorers lounge if there is a comedian at the late show. Sure wish they would go back to having the show, for late seating traditional dining, after dinner.....:(:(:( Bob

I think they did that when they renamed her
lynwar Posted October 31, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2010 We just came back from the Emerald Princess and the show times were 8:30 and 10:30. I don't know if that is a result from all the questions asked about shows vs dining. We ate at 6:00PM. Most seats were filled for the early shows by 8:10PM. But, I preferred to go to see the entertainer in the Crooners Lounge at 9:15, over the show. If you ever get the chance to see Barrington" Barty" Brown on a cruise, you'll have a really nice time. helenb Posted October 31, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2010 This is why we like the super early traditional dining. You go at 5:15, can make it (just) to the early main show, then head to Explorer's for a comedian/game show, then to Skywalker's for dancing... all in one evening! We've even been to see the early show and then hopped into the hot tub for MUTS. Plenty of time to burn off that large dinner before bedtime with all of these activities. :D And if you get hungry later on, the buffet is still open... cruiseryyc Posted November 2, 2010 #15 Share Posted November 2, 2010 Fifteen cruises and late seating dinner is at 8:15; can't believe they'd change it to 7:45 - I'm still having my cocktail then!

We were actually able to go to the Platinum/Elite lounge for a drink before dinner.
