ikey78 Posted November 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2010 The Ruby will not be going to Princess Cays tomorrow 11/8 because of bad weather. Soon after leaving Port Everglades we experienced very rough seas. Commodore Romano cancelled the Princess Cays stop and set a Southerly course to St. Maarten which would take us West of the Bahamas and provides shelter from the rough seas. As soon as we changed course the seas improved dramatically and it is very smooth now. So an extra sea day which to many of us frequent cruisers is a plus. A day at sea is nice for sure, but a bummer to miss a pleasant beach day in the Bahamas (as opposed to an island been to many times). Each will have their personal preference of course, but a lot of people enjoy the Princess Cay stop.

Iceberg2 Posted November 8, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2010 Glad to hear that you are all safe and sound. Better to miss a beach day than have a rocky boat and get sea sick. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your fantastic cruise. Counting the days till 12/12.

doclove Posted November 8, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 8, 2010 I just got back from the 10/31 sailing of the Ruby. As most probably heard we had our Grand Turk stop cancelled so that we could take a longer southerly route to avoid Tomas. The last 2 days were pretty rough seas with rain and heavy wind. The outside areas other than Lido were closed off and the pools were drained. On the last night as we sailed to Ft. Lauderdale it was very rough and things were falling off shelves. Its a bummer to miss a port, but definitely better to avoid the rougher seas.

Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted November 8, 2010 #19 Share Posted November 8, 2010 This is probably the result of Hurricane Tomas. It's also the result of the cold front that came through starting on Friday. It was a very strong front.

SF Posted November 8, 2010 #21 Share Posted November 8, 2010 Sorry to hear about you having to miss Princess Cays but hopefully the weather for the rest of your cruise will improve. Looking forward to reading all about it as we will hopefully be on board Ruby in a few weeks. :) Would appreciate it if you could answer a few questions. 1. We are trying to decide which nights to make alternative dining reservations and would like to know the "theme nights" in the dining room for each day? 2. Which night is the "island party" on deck? 3. Who is the cruise director? Thanks and have a great cruise. :)
