How many times can you cruise the same ship?

Sure, we've been on the Conquest 4 times, the Ecstasy 4 times and the Elation 4 times and in the old days were on the Jubilee 3 or 4 times. Sometimes itineraries were different, sometimes not. Our favorite ports are W. Caribbean - never get bored of going to Cozumel or Grand Cayman. Cruises are always different because alot depends on the crew and fellow passengers. Also, we have a pretty set routine on board that does not involve "activities." We eat, we relax, read, go to the shows and listen to the live music. We're not particularly interested in pool games, trivia, karaoke etc. We're too old to need to be entertained.

I cruised the Freedom last May with my husband and I am taking the same cruise this May with my girlfriends. I cruised the Monarch of the Seas with my kids in May of 2009 then with a group of 17 in March of 2010. I love to cruise if the price is right put me on the boat. I have been to Nassau numerous times. Do I get excited about Nassau? No, but I get excited being on a cruise ship. Each cruise is different. Different people, weather, different entertainment staff. I have been on 9 cruises with the 10th one in 4 days and one booked for May. I would cruise every month if I could. I told my husband we need to retire to FL to get the last minute cruise deals.

I have never sailed twice on the same ship. But I would. I am highly motivated by price first and destinations second. So if I got a very good price on one of the ships that I have previously sailed on, I would not hesitate to book on the same ship again ( speaking of Carnival here, since the Norway is long gone, and the Celebrity Zenith is no longer with Celeb ) but I would not hesitate to book any of the ships I have been on on Carnival again if the price and the destinations were right.:)

I cruised 14 times within 48 months, and 11 were on Carnival. .. If you cruise a lot its hard not to repeat.... or Id have to leave Carnival.

Shows stay the same for many years.

I like to NOT go to a show I've seen and do something I haven't done instead. That welcome show is a yawner. But Shout I go to again and again. They changed it up a bit the last time and it was even better.

On most cruises now, the ship is definitely the destination for us--no matter how many times we have sailed that particular ship.

We live on Galveston Bay...so it is very convenient being just minutes from the port. We have a b-2-b beginning Sunday, January 16th on the Conquest...which means we will have sailed the Conquest 9 times by the end of January. We don't go to the shows too much anymore...but we will go the comedy club. The Dream we sailed 3 times on a b2b2b in May...the shows were all new on that cruise...so that cruise gave us 3 weeks to take them all in--a few we enjoyed so much we went twice. A few other ships we have sailed on b2bs or sailed on them various times throughout the years.

Over the years we have taken multiple excursions from snorkeling, SCUBA diving, sailing on caramarans, party cruises, pirate cruises, visited various ruins, tubed, swam with the sting rays, visited private islands, taken cultural tours, factory tours, island tours, and so on. Some of those excursions we have repeated numerous times. However at this point, we just enjoy sailing on the ship. Visiting a port is interesting and enjoyable...but that is no longer the main reason that we cruise. We would both happy just sailing around in the ocean for the entire cruise. There are times when one or both of us, stay on the ship instead of visiting a port for the day. Since my DH travel 6 months or more out of the year on his job, just being on the ship allows us to enjoy our time together while only having to unpack once. Since we are familiar with all the shows on the Conquest, we enjoy just listening to music throughout the ship, going to some of the game shows, playing card games, reading, spending lots of time in the casino, meeting new people, etc. The best part is while we are relaxing and having fun, someone else does the cooking, cleaning, etc. No worries!!! Since we are so close to the port, we don't have to deal with all the hassles of flying to a port. It works for us!!!:) We are looking forward to the new Carnival Magic and the Triumph coming to Galveston later this year. Hopefully, we can sail numerous times on those ships.

We have sailed on the Conquest 3 times, same cabin (6483 the last two times), same itinerary. I love that ship and am sad she is moving to New Orleans. Since the Magic is coming to Galveston, we are booked for 12/4/2011 (WOOHOO). My husband does not care to fly, so it is easy to drive down to Galveston and hop on-board.

This post makes me wonder how crazy I am going to the same Catskill resort since 1959.

I've gone on a couple of ships twice or three times, but it just means gravitating towards something I like. But I find two cruises are not the same, based on the passenger makeup of each cruise.

Just because I know the layout of the ship, I just find I don't do that activity that time around. That may be replaced with more balcony time, a show, a drink, and most importantly, making new friends.

We make it a point to not repeat the same cruise ship. We like the excitement of first day onboard to walk around and explore the new ship (and getting lost).

We don’t even sail on the same cruise line back to back just so we can have a different cruise experience every time. 5 of our last 6 cruises have been on different cruise lines.

Depends on what your preference is: Different ships will give you a sense of newness to things. But same ship will give you a sense of familiarity such that you don’t have to “get used to the new surroundings”. Our preference is for the former. But I can see it can be a 50/50 split in the responses you get.

I have sailed the Ecstasy and also the RCCL Voyager of the Seas many times, but that's because there are not many choices from Galveston, and we perfer to drive rather than fly to the cruise ship. We are not burned out. Interesting that all Galveston ships are changing next year. I'm looking forward to the Triumph and Magic; RCCL Mariner of the Seas is similar to the Voyager OTS.

I have sailed the Fantasy 9 times and the Holiday 9 times, Elation 2 times, NCL Sun 3 times, NCL Spirit 2 times.

For us it is being only two hours to NOLA and Mobile that we have sailed the same ship more than once. We dont mind helping out folks that have that lost look. We dont view traveling as a vacation so it does not impact us by helping others.

I have logged 36 of 'em. 25 on one CCL, 6 other CCL vessels, and the rest, mix lines. Years ago, in another life, alot of time was spent on one particular ship, and a few others. Then I dissappeared from being on board. Back with 9 more booked-----not stopping my life now!

We will cruise the same ship if it's a short one out of Port Canaveral. Although, we've yet to cruise the same ship with Carnival, we have done 2 cruises aboard Monarch of the Seas. We go for the itinerary, vacation, atmosphere and relaxation.

If you are Platinum and sail from the same port, it is almost impossible not to sail on the same ships. In addition, if you are limited to 7 or 8 days cruises, it further restricts your selections.

Note also, that the number of new ships being ordered by Carnival is certianly less than it use to be. After the next two are introduced, there will be a long time with no new ships.

We live close to a port, so we have repeated cruises on the same ship. We've been on the Ecstasy 4 times, but under different types of circumstances.

1st time--took Dad, 1st cruise for him, needed a shorter cruise due to medical issues

2nd time--girls only

3rd time--CTN during Hurricane Alex. We would have never taken the cruise except for such an awesome price. Booked the cruise at 10:30 am on the date of sailing.

4th time--short family vacation

From Galveston, we've been on Celebration, Jubilee, Elation, Conquest and Ecstasy.

For us, a family of 4, sometimes the airfare would be more than the price of the cruise.

Sorry but I don't get it. What do you view traveling as?

Check my signature. I've cruised on the Conquest 5 times and am looking forward to May for my 6th time on that beautiful ship! In 2010, I cruised on the Triumph 3 times. NO, I am not tired of either ship! If I like a ship and its itinerary, I will cruise it again and again. No two cruises are the same, regardless of which ship I happen to be on.

We have sailed on the Glory several times and the Inspiration several times; each cruise is different. On some we had our teenagers in another cabin and had to not faint when DS arrived at the dinner table after Cozumel with a huge tattoo (it was henna). We've cruised with friends and cruised as a family and cruised as a couple.

We've cruised with a balcony/OV/inside depending on the itinerary and the budget. We've gone to every show and made friends with the CD and the bandleader; we've also had a couple of cruises that we booked strictly for relaxation. No shows, no formal night, no port excursions, just a sunlounger and a mini-golf club needed.

Each CD plans a different type of week; each area's band or singer is different; now each Punchliner comedian might be different. If you can only cruise from your nearest ports, just plan something different (if you want) and enjoy!

We have been on some ships more than once, Carnival Valor, Celebrity Century, and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have a problem with it. Give me a ship sailing away and I am happy. Each time is a unique, fun experience.

The worst day on a cruise is better than the best day at work!!!
