Bar & Restaurant Discount 3 Star Mariner Question

Actually there is a discount on the Beverage Cards -- if you use the entire card.

5% off the $50 card because you only pay $45 for it.

10% off the $100 card because you only pay $90 for it.

come on dude, dont you think i already know that?

I'm talking about on top of the discount of buying the card.

Have been on these boards for a few years, have read many weird things but this has to be the weirdest... I have NEVER EVER seen Krazy Kruizers referred to as "dude" before ! Don't let this get you down, dude, most of us appreciate your contribution. Your are a living encyclopedia of all things HAL and many people benefit from it!

Hi Fellow Cruisers.

We are new Three Star Mariners. Does anyone know if the 25 percent discount for HAL Three Star Mariners apply to bar tabs in the public areas? We hang out in the Piano Bar and drink lots of Perrier. Also I gather that the 25 percent does apply to all of the Specialty Restaurant charges. Thanks for a reply.

Along this line, does HAL still offer Happy Hour in the Crows nest in the afternoon?:)

Yes, unless they've drop it real recently. Sea days we enjoy going up to the CN and taking advantage of the Happy Hour. :)

As for the Mariner program overall.....sounds better on paper than it is in reality in my mind. Might add that the notion of free Internet access would be another "so-what" kind of benefit to us. We live on our computers daily as a part of our jobs and the notion of doing so on a vacation doesn't appeal to us. Understand some people need or must have that capability but we hardly like bringing our cell phones much less a laptop.

Sounds like everyone has different expereinces based on ships, etc. On our back-to-back Eurodam trip in December, we paid in advance online for a Tamarind dinner on the second cruise. The 25% discount showed up on the first cruise's pre-bill without our having to ask for it. Sorry to hear others have not fared as well.

I understand from other posts that HAL intends to rework the website to apply the discount at booking. Hope to see it soon.

There was happy hour every late afternoon on Maasdam and I think it was in both Crows Nest and Ocean Bar. It is rarely available for those of us that have late seating. We don't want our pre-dinner cocktails at 4:00 if we have an 8:00 dinner. I think if they offer it for early seatings, it should also be for those of us who eat later. Just to be fair........ ;)

DH has to be able to receive e-mails or he cannot cruise. I am responsible for an elderly relative and they must be able to contact me in the event of 'change of condition' etc

We bring our netbook to make it as convenient for ourselves as possible. Sometimes I'll log on late at night if that is convenient. Having netbook means I don't have to go to Explorations Cafe to use HAL computer.

As I said, some have no choice. Mrs. K's bosses would love it if she brought her laptop but she kind of refuses and uses the fact she'll be "out of the country" to keep them from demanding it. Same excuse works for her work BlackBerry which stays home when we're on vacation. Luckily now that I'm semi-retired the only patients I see are the ones that belong to somebody else and I'm covering for them when they're on vacation. My major consulting is doing patient record QA/QC which I do from home on the computer and that's way too big to be downloaded via a HAL Internet connection so that's not happening....not that I'd want it to. :)

W e automatically got the credit for our prepaid Tamarind fee after we dined there the first time. They actually credited us for both evenings then. I love the robes and they do have the logo but I can forget the $10 I should have received. Maybe they credited it to my casino card and I , as usual, immediately returned it to them.

Brian: I had .....

So sorry to barge into this topic but I am trying to get info from CJcruzer--or anyone for that matter--on OceanWave Tours in Santorini. I am obviously new to cruising and CC. I think I have mastered the search process but I cannot figure out how to send a message to just one person outside of a post.

We have never taken a HAL cruise. We are so looking forward to our 20 days on the Noordam this summer. From the info here I have a handle on the Western Med. Now I am looking for tours for our Eastern Med stops.

CJcruzer how did you like the tour you took with Oceanwave in Santorini?

Any info or links would be appreciated.

Again, I apologize for disturbing your conversation.

There are no Private Messages allowed on these boards, and unless the person you're trying to contact has posted an email link in their signature (as I have) you simply have to hope that they see your message.

However, you might have better luck with him seeing your message if you posted it on one of his/her Roll Calls, with the next one being the most likely. Click on his/her name, then Find All Posts by x, and look for recent postings on Roll Calls. The next one appears to be the Volendam in Feb:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1319947

then the Celebrity Constellation in July:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1179091

You'll get the hang of these boards after a while. :)

Had not thought of that. Thanks for the tip.

Back to the topic, I have booked wine packages, Pinnacle Grill & Tamarind dinners on line (to make sure I have reservations). after three days when I see no credit I go to the concierge and have to ask for the discount I am deserved of. (we book deluxe).

I've always gotten it back as a shipboard credit which isn't too hard to use anyways.

Anything I book onboard gets the discount easily.

I really don't understand why the website doesn't fix it. There is a place fora discount already. Next cruise, I'm just going to wait to get onboard and hit the concierge and book. Less hassle. hurts my planning attitude, but it's easier. :):)

Next cruise we will hit 4 stars and while some disdain the discounts, i don't mind them at all. :p

We had to do the same thing on the Ryndam and the concierges took care of the credits.

But on the Nieuw Amsterdam -- we could only get the 50% for those dinners we booked on the ship.

We got thoroughly disguested being the given the go-around -- so we ended up cancelling a couple of dinners and rebooking them. Spent too much time trying to get it straightened out. Much faster to just cancel and rebook.

Have future dinners booked -- will be curious to see what happens on those cruises.
