a drunk at my mdr table fell off her seat and knocked over a serving of cold soup as she fell. she dragged herself off the floor and sat back down with dripping hair from her strawberry soup shampoo. without missing a beat the moment she slurred some words the waiter apologized for forgetting to give her soup and said more was on the way.

.. I have one - although it actually happened on a train ride after our cruise just last week!

We took the dome train from Seward to Anchorage. When we got on, they made several announcements which included "Do not remove your shoes" - which I wish they would make on air planes!!! ;) Another announcement they made was that if anyone saw any wild life .. an eagle or a bear or moose etc.. that they should shout it out so every one could see it; after all, this was a scenic train route. The conductor of the train would slow the train down - so we could get better and more pictures!

Our train ride was 4 hours long. Most of the time I just watched out the window, but I did have time to chat with the lady sitting behind me. As we were coming into Anchorage, we started to see several homes - obviously built by the same builder as most had a second story balcony. Althouth it was 10:15pm, the sun was still out and lots of people were waving to us from their balconies.

All of a sudden I saw a stark naked rather heavy ( I am being nice here) man. He was outside on his second story balcony walking from one side to the other.

I stared.. I blinked... I stared again and then turned my head to see if the lady sitting behind me saw what I saw. She had the same dumb founded look on her face that I had on mine..... and I loudly said.... (wait for it) .....

..

I hope the train slowed down <laughing>.

In a water arobic's class one time a man was standing against the wall we were looking at for instructions and he KNEW he had a hole in his swim trunks in an inappropriate place. One of the older gals next to me said loudly, "put that thing away, no one wants to see that little old thing". I about lost it.;)

On the Canival Fantasy in the early 90,s they had a American themed night. In the dining room were many American service men in full dress uniforms, very impressive. The Star Spangled Banner was sung and everyone stood respectfully, even us Canadians. Not to be out done when everyone sat down our group ,(approx.60) started to sing Oh Canada, with out exception every Marine ,sailor, airman soldier in the room stood at attention .I have never seen such a show of respect.

That is absolutely wonderful!!

This one came from some friends of mine, and occurred a couple of years back:

My friends went to dinner on the first night, to find a family of four (Mum, Dad and two daughters) already sitting at the table. Wanting to be sociable, my friends sat down and asked some of the usual introductory questions (where are you from? etc).

The women and girls would not make eye contact and the man spoke for the whole family. His answers were terse, and it quickly became clear to my friends that their questions were not welcomed. Rather than make anyone feel uncomfortable, they talked among themselves.

When it came time to order, the man ordered for the whole family. He didn’t ask them what they wanted, just told the waiter what each would have. Not a word was said by the woman or girls during the whole meal. As soon as they finished their main course, they got up and left.

My friends said that they asked for a different table, but it didn’t really matter since they never saw the family at dinner again throughout the cruise.

I forget which ship it was, but about ten years ago there were half a dozen 'monks' on board, shaved heads, and pink robes. they seemed to enjoy the bars, and the casino best.

The story that I heard was that one of their 'followers' had passed away, and had left some money to the 'Church?'

For us it was the fellow part way through his sexual orientation change. He/she was a bodybuilder and very muscular. Had an ample chest. But when in her one piece bathing suite it was evident that had not gone the whole way yet.

Wife was jealous that she had nicer evening gowns than she had.

She/he was treated very respectfully by the staff and tablemates and I can admire his courage.

Boarding a 10 day NCL cruise out of Miami in November we encountered a man with 15, twenty-five pound canisters of oxygen. They were contained in a large wire basket with wheels. The luggage stewart didn't blink an eye and rolled them into a building prior to placing them on board.

At least he wasn't bringing bottled water.

I guess, I'm lucky, I haven't seen that much that is strange on a cruise. I guess the strangest thing I have ever seen on a cruise was a man berating a young girl who was working at the guest services desk. My hearing is such that I couldn't make out what had him so upset, though that wasn't for his lack of trying to be heard around the entire ship. He was also turning beat red, and not from sunburn. He was gyrating wildly, beating his fist on the counter and jumping around. It was a huge spectacle. Unless the captain personally beat his wife with a ball bat, I couldn't imagine what had him so upset.

As fate would have it, when he finally walked away, I was next. The girl was still shaken when I walked up and couldn't quite muster a smile. I told her that I just came back on board because our excursion had been canceled last minute because of equipment malfunction and that we were told by RCI personnel in the port that our money would be refunded. That information hadn't made it back to their desk yet, but I waited quietly while her supervisor radioed the excursion people who were still in the port and verified this. I smiled and went on my way.

I had something similiar, while waiting in line at the Purser's desk.

I watched as a couple was berating the poor lady behind the desk because a page was missing from the information binder in their cabin. As the man was shouting (litteraly) about that, the woman who was with him was also yelling that the "special" soap that was promised them because they were in a suite was not in the cabin.

The lady said she would be happy to have the missing page delivered to their cabin. She opened up a binder to confirm which page was missing, and the man lunged across the desk yelling that he wanted that page.

The poor lady jumped back. A number of us were about to intervene at this point, but I think the couple had figured out that they had gone too far, and they walked away.

When it came my turn, I told her that if they filed any sort of complaint that I would be happy to write a statement in her support.

Not sure I am crazy about the fact that it sounds like anyone can buy a copy of any photo that is taken. Or am I misunderstanding?

You are NOT misunderstanding. I believe the photos on board are a concession, just like the spa, paintings, etc.

The cruise company owns very little and hires few employees. Most people working are contract workers.

Even the Doctor.

Yes, you can buy any of the pictures which are up on the walls, but they were all taken in public places. Realistically, I don't think the crew could effectively restrict who buys which pictures.

Last fall on the Island Princess there was a family onboard, mom and dad and two tween daughters and a son of maybe 5 ... every time we saw them onboard the little guy was in full costume, either Buzz Lightyear or Superman. Even ashore in Aruba, where it was really hot, the little guy was appearing as Superman. I think the two costumes were so that the mom could launder them alternately.

They were a lovely family and very good natured. So, altho this was strange, it was so in a nice way.

If I were in line behind those dorks, when my turn came, I would ask the nice person at the desk where to go to get a missing page in my information binder. Then flash a huge smile.

Totally agree with you.

This passenger should have been reprimanded by the hotel manager (or whatever this role is called on a ship). It is not accaptable to treat people that way.

Shocking display of human nastiness

The strangest thing that I encountered was a woman standing behind me in the buffet line. I was putting lettuce (the green and purple kind) on my plate. She actually used her finger to touch the purple lettuce already on my plate!!! She said "It's bad." ?? I was thinking perhaps she never saw purple lettuce before and thought there was something wrong with it. Even so, that's no reason to touch another passenger's food! I threw out that piece. I didn't say anything because she seemed foreign and seemed like she wasn't fully there mentally.

On a cruise a few years back, I kept noticing this older couple staring at me. Finally the guy came up to me and said I could be his niece's twin and he asked if he could take a picture of me to show her. So I was like '...i guess'.

Well, after that, everytime they ran into me or saw me, they would take my picture. And I kept bumping into them. They would take it without even asking me. It got really creepy after awhile and I wonder what they did with all those pictures of me!!

Of course you see some strange things at The Quest on RCCL but the one night really sticks in my memory! At the end when the teams are supposed to dress one of the guys as a woman the young highly intoxicated girl in front of me took off her pants, then her thong, and put the thong on her team mate! Then on another team a woman in her 70-80's took off her pants and was walking around in a shirt and her granny panties. And a a middle aged woman took off her dress and was just wearing her husbands suit jacket.

On the Monarch last year they were a few groups that did starnge things. One was a group of Xray tech who had a blow up doll they brought to dinner every night dressed up.They took pics with him doing shots eating etc.

There also was a group who brought a life size blown up photo of one of their friends who couldn't make the cruise. They took it off ship in Nassau and took pics with him everywhere they went. Even Senor Frogs!

Then there was the group who on the last night in the dinning room dressed up from the 70's and gave out awards, like the one who puked first, passed out first, etc.

Needless to say it was a interesting cruise!

Don't remember which cruise it was now but there was a guy (I believe traveling alone) that appeared to have a hair piece (not a very good one). We would see him everywhere we went and privately nicknamed him "Mr. Hair". Couldn't believe it on formal night he was dressed in a powder blue toreador (bullfighter) outfit. He was certainly memorable.
