What's the strangest thing you've ever seen on a cruise?

We kept seeing one particular couple throughout our cruise that always had their table filled with just desserts.

I don't believe they ever ate an entree, just dessert.

They probably put on thirty pounds each. Talk about getting your just desserts...:D

We were on the Mariner of the Seas Nov. 2007 that had been taken over by Hogs on the High Seas motorcycle riders. We were on the last tender back to the ship and actually saw the Captain of our ship ride his bright yellow Harley Davidson up the gang plank on to the ship. Sorry, don't have a picture of that.

This thread triggered a memory I tried to put out of my head. Last year while sailing on the Emerald Princess, I was up on the sun deck reading a book and enjoying the sunshine. I didn't mean to look over, but I saw an older woman stand up and proceed to take her bathing suit bottom off in order to change to another one. She had a longer shirt on, but it did not cover her bottom half very well. I got to see some old lady bottom which I really didn't need to see. I've seen it all, but I just wanted to scrub my brain and was a bit taken aback how nonchalant she was. I guess it was too much effort to go back to her cabin or walk a few steps down to the lotus spa locker rooms to change.

Maybe she's just comfortable in her own skin, and doesn't judge those who aren't.

These are great..enjoyed all of them!!!

My experience:

Our table mates (50ish). came to dinner the last night totally wasted. One of them decided that there wasnt enough crumbs on the table for the waiter to brush off so he decided to create some by taking his roll and rolling it between his palms until he had a small mountain of crumbs....the waiter smiled as he brushed them away..

AND WE wonder why other countries believe Americans are jerks?????

Have to agree with you there that is a jerky thing to do, but it's not just Americans it's the individuals;)

I'm an a Aussie by the way.

On the Canival Fantasy in the early 90,s they had a American themed night. In the dining room were many American service men in full dress uniforms, very impressive. The Star Spangled Banner was sung and everyone stood respectfully, even us Canadians. Not to be out done when everyone sat down our group ,(approx.60) started to sing Oh Canada, with out exception every Marine ,sailor, airman soldier in the room stood at attention .I have never seen such a show of respect.

not stange, nice:)

Certainly the most incomprehensible was an enormously overweight guy complaining to the Purser that he wasn't getting enough to eat (& yes there was 24hr dining!!)

The grossest has to be on a minicruise to Egypt. The sea was very rough & on a table opposite to mine, there was a woman eating spaghetti carbanara, then puking into a sickbag, then eating again. Had to get up & leave the dining room or I would have had to borrow her bag!

yes I was on a trip from Sydney to Tasmania in huge seas and the man next to me was doing the same thing ewwww:(

I live on a small island there for you know everyone. We were on a cruise one time when there was this guy (which was from the same island) and his young 20 year old son having these "hired" girls hanging all over them the whole cruise. Needless to say the dad was a married man! I found this strange but more so discusting because he was showing his son it was ok to cheat!

That's kind of bizarre. Did he talk to you or ask you to <lie, or not mention it> or anything? That would be an awkward situation to be in.

The guy in the gorilla suit on the pool deck was pretty strange. He must have been simply burning up in that thing.

Same cruise, guy with a blow up doll on the pool deck. He and his "friend" were very, uh, friendly, shall we say. (She liked to sit on his shoulders apparently). Could have been the guy in the gorilla suit for all I know.

Another cruise, 2 young men wearing their bathrobes everywhere; even had pictures taken in them. (formal night, too). Now, what my husband loves about this story is that when they were having the portraits taken, they were one deck down from where we were in one of the lounges, but becuase it was around the centrum, we could see down to where they were. Here's the part my husband loves: me almost falling out of my chair as I am trying to see if they are au natural under those bathrobes as the photographer is posing them on stools and with legs propped up, etc. I never did get a good angle so to this day, I don't know. *sigh*

DW and I were on Serenade in Jan 2010. We were watching the Hairy Leg contest by the pool. The first 3 guys did the normal dancing and posing. The fourth guy comes up, does his dance and then turns around and makes like he's going to pull his swimtrunks down but stops there.

Finally this skinny 75 year old guy who's feeling no pain comes out and does his dance, then faces everybody, gives a look of surprise and then yanks his swim suit right down to his ankles.

Gotcha! It turns out he's got a pair of Depends on under his trunks (which were soaked to the gills)! What an awful sight!

It took a few minutes before Belle the young Australian Activities Director was able to regain her composure.

Thats a classic:eek:

Such a shame that this thread stopped attracting contributors...it was my very favourite thread and I really miss the stories! Come on...anyone else out there have some funny stories from their previous cruises...I need my daily fix!

This thread has become one of my online guilty pleasures :D.

I look forward to posting after our August cruise. The people of Walmart site is also hilarious.

I closed down the casino one night (3 a.m.) I was going to my room and when I turned the corner to go to my room in front on the doors next to my room was a child sleeping on the floor in front of both doors (not sure which room he belonged too) luckily a Carnival employee was already standing there. I must have had a shocked look on my face because she told me she had already called security which did show up they had to knock a few times to get someone to come to the door ( I only know because lord knows I heard them knocking) Now I have seen some strange things but did not expect that.

Last summer on a Med Cruise we visited Kusadasi, Turkey where a private guide took our group to visit Ancient Ephesus. As we walked down the street she pointed out an enormous marble slab (with numerous oval holes) as an ancient public latrine. When one of our friends stated "I'll bet that was cold to use in the winter!" she responded "Not really, you sent a slave down an hour or so before you needed to go with orders to warm your seat." LOL!

On one or our cruises we had come back from port very early and were sitting on our balcony reading. The guy next door comes out and I guess he thought everyone else was still in port because he proceeds to pass gas.....

The first time I just looked at my husband and said nothing. The second time I was trying to laugh without making any noise. But the third time, which was his biggest one yet, I just burst out laughing and said "OMG"!!!!......

He ran back inside his cabin and I don't think he ever used the balcony again.
