I am on RH now and Capt Dimas had his Captain's Corner this morning. He said he will have a longer than usual contract and will sign off on May 13 in Venice.

I've never met Captain Claus, but I'm fairly confident RCL doesn't hand over a new build (Anthem) to just anyone. I wasn't there, but I continue to maintain my original assertion, "Anthemgate" was the result of a few newbies with Twitter accounts on a ship with internet that actually works and we got what we got. I have some hope that Captain Claus will reappear soon. If not on Anthem, another RCL vessel. And when he does, I'm gonna do my best to book that cruise.

Writing to all 3 couldn't hurt. My response from M. Bayley, which may or may not be true, indicated that Captain Claus would remain employed with RCI. I do realize that it might be incorrect information, but I'm holding out hope that those of us who did write, were not lied to.

It would make sense for him to be with Ovation since it's the same class of ship. And I bet he did need a break after experiencing one of the most challenging nights of his career and then getting so much flak in the media etc.

I commend Captain Claus for performing the maneuvers he did whilst we were in the storm. However, I have my own opinions on whether Anthem should have been in that position in the first place. It would be a shame if Captain Claus were gone... it was surely not solely his decision to stay on course.

While Captain Clause is our all time favorite captain, (and many others, too), I'd suggest letting the dust settle on this type of news before every one starts calling people liars,etc. Perhaps reflecting common decency.

Thank you, Libby. Since you quoted me, I presume you think I called someone a liar, which is not true. I said that I hoped we had not been lied to. I probably should have used better phrasing, such as "inadvertently misrepresented the facts." Is that more acceptable?

I'm going to bypass this ideal opportunity to move on since I'm saying what's on my mind in real life as well as the internet lately. "Anthemgate" is my term for the media "show" that followed what I have never doubted was a traumatic cruise for many. That is all. It is not meant to belittle anyone's experience that was there, and I sincerely apologize if I came across that way. I continue to maintain that a lot of the media frenzy that erupted while the ship was still at sea and later was fed by social media capabilities from sea that haven't always existed. I could go on for another paragraph on what I thought was an amateur response from shoreside in crisis management and whether RCL lost a bet on outrunning the storm, but I'll keep that to myself and call this my last word on Cruise Critic about Anthem of the Seas' "storm cruise".
