Interesting theory, I have not seen such discussions. How might one market to new cruisers specifically in a way that does not also market to returning passengers?

I would not say that marketing does not also include returning passengers but I don't think they are the focus of the marketing. Think about most of the TV commercials that you see. Does much of it tell, or show, you anything that you don't already know about the cruise lines that you sail? Does the talk of the glamor, romance, and gourmet food entice you? How about those wonderful suite accommodations? Sure, we all watch the commercials because we love cruising. But we all already know what life is like aboard ship. We know about the features of the ships in far more detail than what the marketing shows including those beautiful suites with private balconies as well as the size of a bathroom in an inside cabin. Have you ever seen one of those in a commercial? Heck, most of us know more about the ships we sail than the folks who work for RCI. We all know where the cruise lines shine and where they fall short.

 

I just feel that when people have a passion for something they often times are much more educated and aware of a product that typical marketing does not have a very big impact. But think about those same commercials and try to imagine watching as someone who has never been on a cruise ship before.

Captain Stig Nilsen will relieve Manolis Kaselas on BR in CPH August 21.

 

We sailed with Captain Stig on Jewel of the Seas' westbound transatlantic (when it hit the powerline in the Faroe Islands). He is very personable (although I think he enjoys the Blue Nose ceremony a bit too much. LOL.)

We will be on the Brilliance, August 19th and look forward to welcoming him when he boards the ship in Copenhagen on the 21st. I think that the next cruise, the Brilliance transatlantic, will mark his first time back in the Faroes since last year's incident.:)

the second part so far has had no glitches. Except when I talked to her CPA, her US 2012 taxes are now ready (they got an extension). I didn't bring any of her US fund checks back with me so I have to find out how much it is and when its due. DH wants to go back in October to get rid of furniture so the house can get listed on the market and I'm hoping I can get it paid then.
