flames Posted August 22, 2011 #251 Share Posted August 22, 2011 I just got off the phone with my Royal Caribbean Certified Vacation Planner. Jeff stated that the "G" stands for Gate area for priority boarding. It is an alert for the staff when checking you in for the cruise. Junior Suites and all other suites have priority boarding and have a special waiting area. Once the ship has been cleared, all suite guest including junior suites are allowed to board. The mystery of the "G" is solved. All suites including junior suites get priority boarding. So are you saying that D & D+ do not get priority boarding and a special waiting area anymore unless they are in a Suite:confused::confused::confused: Carol:mad:

Plus it says suite right under those initials!! :)
rascalious Posted August 23, 2011 #253 Share Posted August 23, 2011 OK... ding ding ding! Here is my official guess: It means that your seapass will be the color "gold." Final answer! :D I base this on this statement: "We are Diamond members, but on a recent cruise we booked a Grand Suite. Early one mornining at the casino bar we paid for Bloody Mary's with our Seapass Card. The couple next to us asked why our card was Gold and theirs was Silver. The bartender explained to them that we were Suite Guests." Which I found in this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1151425 If you quote me, please give me credit. - Rascalious - LOL:D
rascalious Posted August 23, 2011 #254 Share Posted August 23, 2011 If you quote me, please give me credit. - Rascalious - LOL:D Yeah, that was MY post that was quoted. Oh, now we are Diamond Plus, but still no Gold Seapass Card unless we are in a GS or higher. But, still get the priority boarding with the D-plus status! The mystery of the "G" is solved. Not sure I'm buying this one, either. The priority boarding has been around for quite some time. Why all of the sudden do we need a G on the seapass to designate it. I still think they are just making things up to get the calls to quit coming in. :p
dsjlcruise Posted August 23, 2011 #256 Share Posted August 23, 2011 So are you saying that D & D+ do not get priority boarding and a special waiting area anymore unless they are in a Suite:confused::confused::confused: Carol:mad: Flames/Carol....I'm not saying anything about D & D+, you know the perks you receive prior to boarding. The price that Suite guests pay for their cruise includes many extras (concierge lounge, robes & slippers, special seating area at the pool and shows, separate boarding area) regardless of what their C & A status level is. D & D+ guests get these things compliments of RCI for their loyalty. The original question was never about C & A status. The question was "what does the "G" mean on the setsail pass for those people who had booked Suites-JS, GS, OS etc.
erin_cruisers Posted August 23, 2011 #257 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Oh man. So many mixed emotions. It's almost like the day after Christmas. Yeah. ...I see what you mean. :( At least here in Canada we have Boxing Day right after Christmas, so its not so bad. ;) So are you saying that D & D+ do not get priority boarding and a special waiting area anymore unless they are in a Suite:confused: Carol:mad: Uh-oh. I don't think Carol likes this news at all. Its not wise to get a member of the Pink Boa Society upset. Nope.

If the pier reps look at your SSP, they look to see what is in the circle as to where to direct you for check-in. We are in a JS for our upcoming cruise on Radiance. When I printed our SetSail Pass on July 19, after final payment there was no "G" included with DP and JS. I printed another copy out on Friday and there it was in the middle of DP and JS. So, why didn't it appear on my first printout?
caribbeanadventure13 Posted August 23, 2011 #260 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Thanks for solving the infamous G mystery. But+t I know some goats who aren't going to be too happy when they get to that gate. ;) What about the stuffed ones?
insulationbabe Posted August 23, 2011 #261 Share Posted August 23, 2011 This is just too funny - guess cause we have a owner's suite on the Jewel with lots of room, we can bring 2 or 3 goats - lol - just too hilarious - oh well we shall see when we check in - love the goat picture:)

Priority boarding is nothing new. "Gate" makes no sense at all. Sounds like something someone made up.
erin_cruisers Posted August 23, 2011 #265 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Those stuffed ones are cute. I looked around the house. All we have are dogs and bears. I think ckrobyn's steward may just leave her a special towel goat on her bed.. Like this one? My goat picture is going on my cabin door! Who's with me? Sure - care to share your design? Not sure I'm buying this one, either. The priority boarding has been around for quite some time. Why all of the sudden do we need a G on the seapass to designate it. I still think they are just making things up to get the calls to quit coming in. So the debate rages on. I think we can narrow it down to two camps: The ones who think its all a great conspiracy VS those who think its a just a computer glitch or those who like goats VS those who prefer chicken or beef. :D

Here is the question that needs to be answered: Prior to the observed effective date of this change, what ever date that was when the mysterious "G" of question started to show up, was it standard policy for low level C&A members (less than Diamond) in JS cabins to have access to priority boarding privileges? It appears now that if you are in a JS, no matter what your C&A level, you do have a "G", and perhaps that simply means you are now granted access to priority boarding. Whereas before, you had to either be at least Diamond or in a full Suite, perhaps now any C&A level in a JS or above now has access to the priority boarding area. Has any evidence been observed that contradicts this theory? Theron
clean1owner Posted August 23, 2011 #267 Share Posted August 23, 2011 RCCL is secretly being sold to Disney, so they can have an instant larger share of the cruise market. Junior Suites are all on the Goofy Deck, hence the "G" on your paperwork. I just got this from my Cousins Brother-In-Laws Sister, who heard it at a Lady GaGa concert, so you know it is the Gospel truth.
clean1owner Posted August 23, 2011 #268 Share Posted August 23, 2011 My goat picture is going on my cabin door! Who's with me? I think it should be the new Meet & Mingle door sign, instead of the one Cruise Critic offers.
mcca2 Posted August 23, 2011 #269 Share Posted August 23, 2011 OK... Again, as far as I can see reading and re-reading the thread there is NOBODY in stateroom lower than JS that has the "G" - correct? Anyone have an exception to that? OK,,, Now anyone in JS with the G and less than Diamond? If we can establish those two things as a pattern then I think there may be a change coming and the only common thread to those groups would be newly allowing JS D people the same lounge access (and card color) as higher level suites. A little more incentive for D and higher people to book JS and a little more recognition level. Next question would be.... WHO SAILS SOONEST THAT HAS A G? I think I saw some September sailings. So once they go we might have an answer. Unless the goat eats it. ;) I am sailing this Saturday so hopefully I can report back to you (as soon as I can get online RCCL.......hahahaha) with whatever it seems to mean.......... I am D+ JS and the big G I have no Goats.............no room in the suitcase............:p

Mines Posted August 23, 2011 #271 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Thanks for solving the infamous G mystery. But+t I know some goats who aren't going to be too happy when they get to that gate. ;) This makes me very sad.
