KansasCityGuys Posted August 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2011 I searched for previous threads but couldn't find one regarding the new new ship for 2014. After the Royal, does anyone know for sure whether Princess has named the ship that comes out in 2014. According to Wikipedia, it is being named the Palm Princess! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Cruises#Future_ships
paul929207 Posted August 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2011 No annoucement yet. When the Royal name was announced a few months back, Regal seemed to be the most popular choice on these boards.

Please tell me it ain't so.Sounds like something that sails nighttime casino cruises. :) FYI, Ron, Nancy and I expect to book the Ruby Venice-to-FLL next year today. :) Looking forward to sailing with you and Carol again. KOALA's forever! :)

UpcountryTravelers Posted August 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2011 How about fairy? That should be used for one of the "small ships". :^)

kenzie Posted August 18, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2011 Should carry on with "gem" names and call it Jade Princess -that sounds lovely.
Fetchpeople Posted August 18, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2011 Continuing to use gems as names? Agreed How about Tanzanite? No? Well maybe Zirconia?
Cruise Junky Posted August 18, 2011 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2011 My bet is on Regal. Princess loves to recycle names. NCL already has a Jade so I'm not sure they'd go there.

Cruise Junky Posted August 18, 2011 #14 Share Posted August 18, 2011 Yeah, they've also got a Sun and a Star too. True, the Sun Princess came out years before the NCL Sun though. I think the two Stars came out around the same time. They have a Dawn as well...bloody name thieves ;)
RebelSoul Posted August 18, 2011 #15 Share Posted August 18, 2011 I saw this on Wikipedia a couple weeks back as well. I wouldn't put all the eggs in one basket quite yet. Wikipedia isn't exactly known for its accuracy.

RickEk Posted August 19, 2011 #17 Share Posted August 19, 2011 I'm pretty sure it'll be Regal Princess. It just makes sense... Honors a previous ship Continues the "Royal" theme
runnerodb83 Posted August 19, 2011 #18 Share Posted August 19, 2011 I'm pretty sure it'll be Regal Princess. It just makes sense... Honors a previous ship Continues the "Royal" theme Agreed, however there was a stir a while back after the Carribean Princess came out to name the next the California Princess however I doubt that princess would go with specific place names because try as though they may, the Caribbean Princess is not solely in Caribbean waters anymore...and the next 2 ships will likely not touch Pacific waters till the canal is widened...and even after then, very unlikely. Infi Posted August 19, 2011 #19 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Remember, anyone can edit Wikipedia. ;) My bet is it will be named Regal Princess.
argenta01 Posted August 19, 2011 #20 Share Posted August 19, 2011 I found this article interesting - http://cruiselinehistory.com/?p=2810 Perhaps they could recycle the 1st cruise ship name "Princess Patricia" and then have a contest for anyone named Patricia to win a free cruise on the maiden voyage, or be the ships godmother!! I like that - especially since my name is Patricia!! ;)

I never knew that the Princess Margureite that used to sail out of Seattle to Victoria was related (although the most recent one was actually a car ferry.)
