Is Miami the busiest port?

We attended a vacation resort presentation and got vouchers for a 7 day cruise for 2. We have to choose a departure port and two possible departure dates. We have been informed that we should pick a departure port with alot of departures so that we have more possibility of getting the dates we want. It seems that the Miami port is the busiest in terms of ships departing from there. We are targeting February for the month of the cruise. Could someone help give advice on if Miami is the busiest port?

Actually, Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) is much busier than Miami.

Port Everglades at Fort Lauderdale has more cruise ships go out of it than anywhere else

As mentioned Fort Lauderdale is actually the busier of the two ports but Miami is right up there in terms of being a very busy port.

I agree. Act cautiously with those vouchers and be very sure what the 'real' terms are.

I think Ft Lauderdale is probably one of the busiest!

We had one round-trip cruise from Miami, stayed per-cruise on South Beach, it was easy to get a taxi to the port, the price was under $20, from the cruise ship we bought a transfer to the airport.

 

The port seemed busy, lots of people, but nothing out of the ordinary, no confusion of where to go, or which pier.

 

We flew in Miami, but out of Ft Lauderdale - that airport was a zoo to go home. This I will try to avoid in the future, of possible.

I've always heard Miami airport is the more zoo-like of the 2, although FLL is pretty nuts on big cruise days as well.

Just be sure you have read all the fine print before you commit. Some of these "free cruises" are more expensive than the ones you pay for.

Be careful with vouchers. Why do I suspect that your voucher does not cover the entire cost of the cruise and that there might be some kind of "taxes" and "handling" charges. If you must pay any money to book the cruise make sure you check the cost of that same cruise with a couple of large online Travel Agencies (you can do this in a couple of minutes).

In terms of cruise port, probably Ft Lauderdale, but in terms of passengers per day, I would imagine Tsawwassen handles more passengers
