LOVE! Sea Days!! Relax @ pool in the sun (if it's a warm weather cruise) with a good book, visit the casino and just people watch. Also good for catching a nap and later sitting on the balcony with my DH just watching the ocean... Life doesn't get any better!

We will be on the 9 night Bermuda/caribbean Explorer of the Seas cruise. We will have 4 sea days. What is your favorite thing to do on a sea day?

Loralie

Up at sunrise, promenade, coffee, and begin taking pictures of the ship.

Back to cabin, grab laptop, back to promenade, grab more coffe, up to deck 14 19th Hole, logon to internet, check messages, news, etc.

Drop off laptop, head to WJ and have breakfast.

Pool. Read. Swim. Drink beer. Repeat often.

Lunch, just go to WJ grab something quick, back to pool.

Read. Swim. Drink beer. Repeat often.

2:00 Trivia in Schooner Bar (or whatever activity that appeals), drink beer, try to answer some questions.

3:00 back to pool. Just dump towel, shoes, shirt in some corner, jump in pool, sit on pool edge, get a beer. Repeat often.

5:00 Get ready for dinner.

At the start of the cruise we purchase a thalassotherapy spa package for the entire cruise which includes the unlimited use of the Hydrotherapy Pool and Exotic Thermal Suite. On sea days we indulge ourselves 2 or 3 times a day relaxing in this area. When we sailed with Celebrity this area was free but it was also in great demand and somewhat crowded

DW also attends art auctions (guys this is a dangerous thing. They loosen the attendees judgment with free champagne) while I read, sleep, eat, or just see what I can get into.

The ship also has a lot of activities scheduled for sea days; demonstrations, tours, arts and craft projects, sport activities, and a lot of other sponsored activities.

There is so much to do on sea days that you’ll never run out of things to do.

Just remember:

It’s a Cruise. Have Fun!

Lots of lounging around by the pool, with a good book. Then, behind my dark sunglasses, people watch! Oh, the sights you can see!

Hit a boot camp (ouch but worth it) or gym in the late afternoon, followed by a dip in the hot tub!

Ah the luxury of it all...

Hit the gym and the track early. Then lay in the sun and eat ice cream cones.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Though on most ships, you have to run first as the track fills up with deck chairs by 8am. That isn't the case on Allure/Oasis though, but I prefer running on the top deck.

Me too Bill. I usually start my runs before 6 then hit the gym a little after they open. I know people (including DW) think I'm crazy getting up at 5 every day on vacation to exercise but I am what I am and it is what it is. DW usually doesn't work out when on a cruise, I tell her exercise is as important as eating and I notice you don't stop eating when we cruise. :)

Last TA had six sea days - we liked so much that next TA has NINE (seven in a row).

#1 favorite is to sit in Viking Crown Lounge and read book (or Nook) and listen to iPod while occaisionally gazing at ocean going by.

#2 favorite is to sit on balcony and read book (or Nook) and listen to iPod while occaisionally gazing at ocean going by.

#3 favorite is to sit by pool and read book (or Nook) and listen to iPod while occaisionally gazing at pretty .... going by. ;)

#4 - movies in the theater - never time for this on port days

#5 - sleeping in a bit then workout on treadmill or bike before breakfast

#6 - lunch in MDR, usually not available on port days

#7 - catch up on composing email then burst-send while connected. Only problem is sea days on TA with no service

#8 - we do late MTD so we have time for appetizer run from WJ. Looking forward to Jade section for this

#9 - Sunday sea day church service if they have one. Would skip on a port day but no excuse on sea day

#10 - afternoon naps without guilt :)

The real answer is it depends.

Probably sleep in -- I had enough of early morning PT when it was a requirment of the job.

Here are my thoughts [obviously in no particular order]:

We will try to make all of the trivia sessions scheduled.

Spend time with friends.

Read.

Look around.

Go to the show.

On our TA, two of the sea days included ice shows.

If there is an interesting lecture, I might attend. [frequently go to the Captain's Q&A].

Take a nap.

Eat. [i would probably choose the Windjammer or other alternate eating choice -- DW and friends are more likely to opt for the MDR when available]

Ice cream in the afternoon.

Watch the ocean go by -- look for sea life [for all those who are concerned, DW did finally sea a whale at Peggy's Cove last fall -- but that wasn't a sea day].

Work out at the gym -- usually mid afternoon.

Electronics activities: check email -- review/edit/back-up pictures -- charge camera and other necessary batteries.

Watch sporting event if an interesting one is available [learned a lot about snooker on the TA].
