Princess will not match price quoted by online TA. Normal?

I just phoned Princess and they will not match a price I have on an on-line TA of $100 less per person. Is this normal? I thought I had read that they will match these prices. Is it only if I am already booked that they will lower the price or give me an OBC? Just wondering before I book.....:confused:

Yes its normal. The TA is rebating some of their commission. Princess won't do that.

Ok, thanks, I guess for 200$ I will go with the on-line TA. We have booked with them one other time and it all went well. One other question... if the price goes down will the on-line TA, do something for us? OBC or something???? Thanks for your input.

Princess will not match those prices you find with discount travel agents. In fact, if a travel agent gives you the same price as princess, and it isn't lower, keep looking for a better travel agent that discounts. ;)

If the drop occurs after final payment your on line travel agent will not be able to adjust your cost.

Nope. Princess will not match. Some TAs will not match the lower prices of other TAs. It can be very helpful to shop around for price.

Princess will absolutely not price match. They're not in the business to do that. Some TAs give back part of their commission as a discount. Princess and HAL are two of the few cruise lines left that will allow TAs to discount their commission.

Princess allows TAs to discount and some do so far more than $100/pp, depending on the cost of your cruise. It is standard policy to not match any TA's discount.

Yes. I have booked several Princess cruises directly with Princess. Whenever I saw a price drop on my cruise I called them and adjusted the price and confirmed it by email.

no one can answer that question as all agencies work differently. I will say one thing: make sure they are not charging you a booking or processing fee; many do now and will not charge you a cancellation fee if you need to cancel before the final payment date.

After final payment, the vast majority of promotions are Flash sales for new bookings. A real price drop doesn't happen very often. I've never seen one although others have.
