cluelyss18 Posted September 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I have never cruise on HAL before. I have also never done a GTY. I didn't get an e-mail or anything letting me know they assigned my room, but when I checked this evening, I had a number. Does this mean it's set in stone and there is no hope for an upgrade? I leave Oct
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted September 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2011 There is always a chance it could change but not very likely. Enjoy your cruise next weekend :)
john2003 Posted September 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I would doubt that it would change. If you really want something different and are prepared to pay a bit, you could get your TA to call HAL to see if there are any upsells available. This has worked for us in the past. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2011 As you are close to sailing -- I doubt that you get a cabin change. But you can always hope. Good luck.
jtl513 Posted September 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Yes, there's hope, but not too much! On the Nieuw A we got an assignment at 10 days out which was an upgrade from what we booked and a re-assignment (and further upgrade) at 3 days out. Same for my DB/DSiL. However, on the Veendam it's even less likely than on a larger ship.

Cruisin MarcnFran Posted September 26, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I believe that sailing is sold out so you are most likely going to stay in the cabin they gave you. We're board on 10/9 as you disembark and we're still waiting for our cabin assignment. We're a sold out cruise too. Have a wonderful vacation. jtl513 Posted September 26, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I believe that sailing is sold out so you are most likely going to stay in the cabin they gave you. There's almost always some cancellations in the final week(s), so there's always a chance!
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted September 26, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Did you check the deck plans to see what you got? Is it the level of your guarantee, or is it higher? At one week out, I wouldn't get my hopes up, but you never know what the Upgrade Fairy is going to do.
cluelyss18 Posted September 27, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted September 27, 2011 Thanks for the responses! I did check out my room number, if I'm reading it correctly we are two categories above what I ordered, so now I get a full window instead of a porthole! I don't really care that much, I'm just excited to get away from work and relax on Bermuda...I was just curious. Would be nice to hear 'Hey, we couldn't fill our biggest suite, so it's yours!!' I'm a dreamer, I know :p
