wantocruisemore Posted October 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2011 And took advantage of the WOW sale. Since I only had one other RCCL sailing this past summer, the WOW was a better deal for us! I had actually tried to get 9392 because we liked the 9th deck so much last time, but almost all of the aft balconies were being saved for departing out of Genoa. Which doesn't make any sense to me since the main sailing is out of Civitavecchia. The very helpful representative on the phone even got a supervisor but although the room was available, they were only allowed to book it if you sail out of Genoa. We want time again pre-cruise in Rome so that would not work. So my question is, will we like 7388? I know the balcony is huge but alot of it is covered. We still like it sunny. My DH will only cruise if he can get an aft balcony. We had 9390 in July and BIL/SIL had 9392, and we were disappointed in the size and arrangement of 9390. They said they may open up the Genoa designated rooms to a Rome embarkation if they are not selling well and if I want to switch I can check back. So should I stick with 7388 or keep trying to switch to 9392? Also, we reserved 7383 for our 2 DD's so they could be close, so our balcony would need to accommodate 4 comfortably. My DH's favorite thing to do every night and sea days is to sit out on the balcony and smoke and enjoy the view.

Rare Teeara Posted October 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2011 7388's balcony will comfortably accommodate 4 people. The cabin itself is a standard size cabin. Only the balcony is ginormous. The entire balcony is covered. You will get sun in the morning and sometimes afternoon, but if you want direct sunlight in the middle of the day you should look to a different cabin. Having said that, I LOVE THIS CABIN! I had 7388 on Explorer and just had 7688 on Adventure. I'd book this cabin again in a heartbeat. But then, I DON'T like direct sunlight and it works great for me. Very quiet and private in the back so no worries about chair hogs. :p;):D I'm attaching pix from Explorer 7388 for your review. Theresa
wantocruisemore Posted October 4, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted October 4, 2011 Thanks for the photos. I have been searching back and found some others too, for Navigator which I think is the most similar to Mariner. We love gazing at the stars at night. From the photos it looks like you do get some sun. I just don't want it to feel like a cave. I do remember a couple of times on our 9390 balcony I went inside because it was too hot, so maybe this would be best. Since DH knows what 9392 looks like I'll show him the photos of 7388. We all love the balcony but that is really his favorite thing to do, just sit out there and relax. And I know Mariner will be in drydock in May, 2012 so looking forward to seeing what will be done. I still don't understand why so much of the ship is designated for the Genoa departure. Seems to me that would make sales less likely. If I had not been able to reserve an aft balcony today, DH would have made reservations for the caribbean instead. This was the only Med cruise that interested him right now. ERTHDOG Posted October 4, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2011 absolutely love 7388 :) we had 20 people on that balcony ,with a little room to spare:D you dont get much sun there , but if you're craving the sun , go up to the top decks for awhile;) i think you will be thrilled with 7388 , my first aft choice on voyager class for sure:cool: dave
Puffinater Posted October 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2011 We have sailed in both on the Mariner. When we sailed with family 7388 was a great choice. Huge balcony for get togethers. When sail without family 9392/9692 are the first we look for. Either one is great. Enjoy.

Sooner-b-Crusin Posted October 6, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We spent 46 days in 7688 on Mariner (reposition sailing from Port Canaveral to LosAngeles). It's the opposite corner. Absolutely loved it. That is the best balcony ever !!!! You will be hooked on corner afts forever !!!! Enjoy
wantocruisemore Posted October 7, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted October 7, 2011 BecciBoo, thanks again for the video! I showed my DH last night and he is very pleased. Said he does not mind that it's shaded more. He LOVED the hammock idea. Did you take yours with you or purchase on the trip? Since we'll be in the Med, we will likely need to take ours with us. And he wanted to know how and with what you secured it.
