Things I don't like about Carnival Cruises

Recommended Posts

I decided to edit my list after reading some of the posts. I changed #1 from chair hogs to pool closing early. IMO pool closing early is worst than chair hogs, it just cut our day short and the policy makes no sense! IF they need to close it to clean/replace water, then do it one pool at a time!

1. Pools/Hot tubs closing early as 8-10pm. One of my biggest pet peeves.

2. Ships with only ONE pool, aka human stew pot (Fantasy class).

3. Some staff not doing their jobs. (Don't get me started on this one!)

1) My biggest complaint is the dance music. If they advertise oldies, we got DISCO....if they advertised 70's & 80's, we got DISCO....even when they advertised Romantic dance music, we still got DISCO!!! There are more than one dance rooms, why not set one up for alternatives?

2)Pools and (at least) hot tubs close too early. There are sooo many things to do during the day, that I don't want to keep getting dressed and undressed just to enjoy the hot tub. Would LOVE to relax in it at the end of the evening, but it was always closed when I was ready to unwind. The "Lido after Dark" suggestion was a GREAT one!

3)If I HAVE to make a third one,it would be slow waiters (or not enough) at the parties with free drinks...(past guest parties, farewell parties)...or not enough selection.

I LOVE Carnival, though, so really the dance music was my only complaint.

I'm one who lets my kids in the hot tub...but only with me...and only if there are already other kids there. I never saw any signs saying no kids, so if there were any adult only pools/spas on the Miracle, I didn't see them. Like someone else said, they pay as much if not more than some of you, (we also get balconies), so why shouldn't they be able to enjoy them? Actually, there were only a few hours when they used them, since they were in Camp Carnival when they were opened. If Carnival doesn't want kids there, they should leave CC open all day.

1) Announcements - that can be heard while I am sleeping. ENOUGH already

2) Time between courses, keep the food coming - I have been in the sun all day, I am hungry

3) Smoke everywhere it seems. I get the casino, I even get the disco, but the piano bar too and a lounge. I went on carnival pregnant on a baby moon, and was SO limited to where I could go. I felt practically stuck in my room and food venues.

I've only been on one cruise so these are 3 things that stuck out to me..

1. Comedy shows are too short to me. An extra 30 mins would be nice

1a. As someone mentioned it was frrreeezzzzing the lounge were they had the comedy shows

1b. Having the comedy shows in that small lounge.

2. If the passengers are on time things should start on time. MDR Dinner for example. We only ate there 2 twice but had to wait for the doors to open after 6 both times.

3. Tender process. There has to be a better way right?

Random others

4. Mexican Buffet with no sour cream?!!! Lol. I love mexican food and I love sour cream.

5. The end. Debarking was pretty easy though. :-(

Thanks for wasting 30-45 minutes of my time. I looked all over that page. The only rule I could find about children in the pools (even when I did a search after not finding it) was a rule that children in diapers or not toilet trained were not permitted in the pools. I don't think that's what most of you were referring to and my grandkids were well past that age. Also, that kids under 13 need adult supervision. I saw nothing about the hot tubs. Here is what I found:

Use of the pools : Due to United States Public Health (USPH) Regulations, we do not allow children in diapers, in swimming diapers or those not toilet-trained in the pools.

  • Lifeguards are not on duty.
  • The pools are not designed for diving.
  • Use of the pools by guests under 13 without adult supervision is prohibited.

My top three things I dislike about Carnival:

1. They make me get off the ship when my cruise is over...bummer

2. I can't eat multiple chocolate melting cakes because I am so stuffed from the delicious dinner I have just had...

3. I can't take my room steward home with me....

1.) Passengers who think the cruise is their personal royal yacht. Guess what, folks? We're all paying to be on the ship. Stop complaining if it's not up to some unrealistic expectations you've built up in your mind. And you're a passenger, not a chattle-owner. Don't treat the staff like they're sub-human. And lastly, show some freakin' common courtesy to your fellow passengers. Don't be that guy or girl who let's their kids go free-range, gets sloppy drunk and becomes obnoxious, or decides to use your stroller as a battering ram.

2.) Passengers who complain about the weather. CCL is not owned by the Cassidine family. There is no weather machine in the whale tail.

3.) Debarkation. This is just a joke. It's not even an exercise in organized chaos. And that "the staff have to turn over the rooms" crap doesn't fly. Other comparable lines allow you to wait in the comfort of your cabin. Not CCL. Oh no. I think it's done this way souly to justify the lounge spaces they have.

I hope that this can be a productive message thread and not turn into a long rant, therefore I suggest we limit our complaints to 3 line items each and only agree/disagree with previous complaints or add ones of our own:

My top 3 in no particular order:

1, Announcing sales in the spa and such over the ships intercom to drum up business.

I don't recall this very much at all, except maybe the last day. Our C.D. only made two announcements per day...one around 10am and the other around 3-4 pm. The Captain only came on twice the whole cruise...the first and last sea days.

2, The buffet dessert bar with a dozen plus mediocre quality dishes, I would prefer if they had 3 or 4 quality ones instead.

No complaints here. We found the buffet and the dessert bar to be very good and in some cases better than the MDR.

3, I wish they would do a better job of controlling the rowdy passengers, I personally don't like to hear people yelling and partying in the halls at 3 am while I am trying to sleep.

No problem with this whatsoever. We never heard a thing outside our cabin, however we were on Riveria Deck and forward as well which maybe helped. All we heard was the water and on days we pulled into port we were evidently close to the rooms that hold the large mooring ropes....

#1-I wish they would add some new itineraries for ships leaving from the northeast/mid-atlantic. I would cruise alot more if there were other port options other than Pt. Canaveral/Nassau/Freeport (I know there are others but the majority seem to run Pt.Canav/Nassau/Freeport)

#2- Add some new features like the zip lines/rock walls, etc...I realize some of the ships do currently offer this but would love to see it more widely available.

#3- offer the meal from the MDR available to be delivered by room service (or at least be available to order "to go" from the MDR). I would love to enjoy my lobster tail or WCMC while watching the sunset from my balcony! ;)

1) creme brule should be served on Lido & at meals on everyday menu

2) steps to stage should have railings so people who want to participate in dancing & games don't fall on their way up or down

3) Entertainers in bar lounges should be prepared to perform on time

#3A - in-room microwaves to heat up meals when they arrive lukewarm-to-stone-cold. ;)

- I want longer port times. It seems they have really shortened some ports so they can save on fuel.

- I would love to see more cruises that are longer. Having done two 12 day cruises, I have to say I love them. I just want more options for longer cruises.

- 24 hour pools. I love to swim late at night on RCCL ships.

Try 12 hours plus in Enscenada! 9am- 10pm!

Glass Souvenir Glasses: I hate drinking out of plastic. One of the few things I liked about RCL was the "glass" glasses.

Kids in Hot tubes: For me it's not so much the Kids as I wish they had more hot tubes. They fill up fast with or without kids in them.

"Hot" Hot tubes: After a day and probably night before running around, I like to soak in a hot tube, not luke warm.

But none of these stop me from cruisin'

more West Coast Itteneraries (North to Canada?)

Trivia Contests I can win with better prizes!

Dance music should be clearly specified as to type-- our friends who are professional ballroom dancers, saw "dance Music" listed on Elegant night. They encountered loud techno-rock. When they made a request for music THEY could dance to, the DJ turned it up louder.

On the same point, let the Circle C kiddies have their own Farewell party & keep them off the stage, so adults can do real dancing!

THERE IS NOT....Let me Repeat.... There IS NOT....any signage on the hot tubs that restrict the age of children. I too let my two kids in the hot tubs but only when I was in there.

Also, talking about pool time...we boarded the Elation last Saturday and could not hardly use the pool when we boarded because they had the 'sprayers' on the entire pool. We tried to swim but got out b/c I was tired of wiping the salt water out of my eyes and my kids eyes. The sprayers literally left you no room to swim. Very frustrating. Looks nice when you are walking around but completely stinks when you are trying to swim.

Hmm, I wonder if they've gotten rid of the signage since the advent of the Serenity areas ... (or if I'm confusing NCL and CCL).
