Ninthroad Posted December 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2011 HI I booked a cruise next year with Royal Caribbean starting from dubai with multiple stops in UAE and one in Oman. My girlfriend who is coming with me is romanian, so I was wondering what kind of Visa we might need. Is there anyone with reliable information on that? txn in advance ninthroad
paul929207 Posted December 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2011 Visa requirements vary depending on the travelers passport and destination. You may not find too many here familiar with the rules for Romanian passport holders. I would contact a visa service, or an embassy for Oman and UAE. My girlfriend who is coming with me is romanian, so I was wondering what kind of Visa we might need. You definitely need specialist advice on this. However, as far as I can see it looks likely that she will need a tourist visa for the UAE, because you probably will have to land in Dubai to get to the ship so that normal visa rules will apply as if you were having a holiday in Dubai. That should then sort out your UAE stops, although you should be prepared for the possibility that you need a multiple-entry visa (particularly as you return to the UAE after going to Oman). Oman would also require a visa, but has an exception for those who hold UAE visas and who go to Oman directly from the UAE, so you might get lucky here. But you shouldn't rely on any of this, because it's based on rules for those travelling by air (it comes from IATA) and because those on ships that are making port calls mid-cruise are often treated as transit passengers - but, obviously, not transit passengers not leaving the airside area of an airport, which is what the IATA information is primarily good for in these cases. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2011 My experience for Oman is the cruise line will obtain the visa for you. Check with your cruise line. Germany citizens like citizens from well over 30 countries can obtain their tourist visa after they land at the Dubai airport. Keith

Rare Keith1010 Posted December 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2011 must we pay for the visa and if so what ar the prize of it. If a visa is required then you must pay for it both for Dubai and for Oman if they require it. The prices are relatively small. Keith
Rare PaulMCO Posted December 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Since Romania is not a visa on arrival country you will need a VISA to enter UAE through Dubai PRIOR to arrival. One thing if you are flying via Emirates you can apply on line through their web site and do not require to submit a passport. It is an e-visa. Passport check in Dubai have changed recently. If you have a VISA you have to go to one line to have an iris scan done. Then you go through the normal passport check line.

We visit Muscat for one day and then Salah on another day. Has anyone had a recent experience, please?

When I did an overnight in Muscat on RCI recently, the Oman visa was $13 and charged to your sea-pass account. You will see the stamps when they return your passport to you later in the cruise.
