Is there anyone with reliable information on that?

You definitely need specialist advice on this.

However, as far as I can see it looks likely that she will need a tourist visa for the UAE, because you probably will have to land in Dubai to get to the ship so that normal visa rules will apply as if you were having a holiday in Dubai. That should then sort out your UAE stops, although you should be prepared for the possibility that you need a multiple-entry visa (particularly as you return to the UAE after going to Oman). Oman would also require a visa, but has an exception for those who hold UAE visas and who go to Oman directly from the UAE, so you might get lucky here.

But you shouldn't rely on any of this, because it's based on rules for those travelling by air (it comes from IATA) and because those on ships that are making port calls mid-cruise are often treated as transit passengers - but, obviously, not transit passengers not leaving the airside area of an airport, which is what the IATA information is primarily good for in these cases.

Since Romania is not a visa on arrival country you will need a VISA to enter UAE through Dubai PRIOR to arrival. One thing if you are flying via Emirates you can apply on line through their web site and do not require to submit a passport. It is an e-visa.

Passport check in Dubai have changed recently. If you have a VISA you have to go to one line to have an iris scan done. Then you go through the normal passport check line.

If a visa is required then you must pay for it both for Dubai and for Oman if they require it. The prices are relatively small.

I am a UK passport holder. I've been told by my cruise line that the Omani visa will be approx £50. This seems terribly high. We visit Muscat for one day and then Salah on another day.

Has anyone had a recent experience, please?

When I did an overnight in Muscat on RCI recently, the Oman visa was $13 and charged to your sea-pass account. You will see the stamps when they return your passport to you later in the cruise. (US citizen)
