FLL Marriott North and port

Just booked a cruise on the Crown in April we are flying in the day before but got much better pricing into Miami. So I have three questions ..... 1) what is the best method to get from the Miami airport to the hotel in Ft Lauderdale? 2) has anybody stayed at the Marriott North recently and how was it? 3) how far from the pier is the hotel?

Can't wait to hit the high seas!!!!

You might want to look into renting a car & dropping it off near the port. Budget/Thrifty have a location virtually right outside the port entrance. Might be cheaper than any other way of getting from MIA to the hotel and then to the port.

Has anyone stayed here recently and what were your impressions, also how far from the FLL airport to the hotel and is there anyplace to eat around there? Sorry to hijack the thread but just wondering as we are thinking about staying here. Are there shuttles from the airport and to the port?? Thanks.

I have stayed there several times & just a few months back I spent a week there. Overall, it's "ok". It is older & not as nice as newer marriotts even tho it's refurbished. Location is not great....right off 95. I would not recommend walking around the area at night. There is a plaza across the street with a couple places to eat. The hotel drove us free via shuttle after strongly urging us not to walk. The Italian place there is decent and there is a longhorn steakhouse. There is also a retro diner there which is good. Apparently there is a casino a couple miles away but I didn't go. One night we wanted to eat waterfront and I think the taxi was $30each way! If it were me, I would stay closer to the beach but if u just want a place to sleep, it will do.
