No stop in Acapulco this February!

We received an email from our TA today saying HAL advised him that, due to safety precautions, the msROTTERDAM will not be stopping in Acapulco on our upcoming 30 day Incan Empire cruise in February. Luckily, we have been there many times. I feel sorry for those passengers who were really looking forward to visiting this port.

I'm actually surprised Acapulco wasn't dropped before now. From all that I've read, the violence there has far surpassed that in any other port in Mexico.

We were there in May and did a 6 hour tour with Rudy. Best tour we have ever done. My wife was uncomfortable with all the army and police trucks packed with officers armed with automatic weapons.

This week We made our final payment for our Panama Canal cruise that begins March 2 and just today received in the mail our itinerary still showing Aculpulco. After reading this I suspect that we may be getting a similar cancellation notification next month....after everyone has made final payments.

No, the cancellation notifications have already started going out. See this earlier thread, about your exact cruise: Acapulco cancelled for Mar 2 Panama Canal Cruise, and also the (already amended) itinerary on the HAL website.

OP: I'd say "No stops in Acapulco for the forseeable future" would better state the case.

Sadly HAL (and other cruise lines) are dropping a couple of Mexican ports.

 

But the cruise lines want to keep their passengers safe.
