lightsleeper Posted January 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Will be on the Constellation for 14 days. Can any explain Celebrity's laundry option(s). We have been on Princess for more than a dozen cruises and they have a self-service laundrymat. I know you have to "send out" on Celebrity. this is our first Celebrity cruise. Are the charges per item or per bag? How long does it usually take once it is "sent out"? Trying to decide to pack for 14+ days or send out Thank you in advance for your replies
Rare OceanCruise Posted January 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Celebrity usually does a terrific job with laundry but for the first time they did lose several small items of ours on our recent Silhouette cruise. There are no self service machines. There will be a laundry bag with price list in your room and items are by the piece. You give it to the room steward or leave the bag on the bed. For laundry for example, undergarments and socks are $1.95 each, shirts and shorts are $4-5 each. Dry cleaning prices are comparable to land prices. During longer cruises there is a "fill a laundry bag" special for $35 later in the cruise which is not really a bargain over ala carte prices. Regular laundry comes back the following day. You can request same day service for a 50% surcharge. There are also cheaper prices for pressing only. If you are a Captain's Club select or elite member you will get some discount coupons. macruisefan Posted January 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I have used laundry services on a number of ships on a number of lines, and it never ceases to amaze me what a "relatively" GOOD deal it is! It is of course, a little more expensive than the wash and fold or dry cleaner back home. But as someone who travels a lot, it is SHOCKINGLY lower than the equivalent service in most land based hotels and resorts.

BBsails Posted January 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Whichever option you choose, make a list of the items you send out so you can be sure all your items are returned. The form you fill out for the laundry is in triplicate, so you will have a copy of that, but make your own list of specific items. Two pairs of slacks were not returned the first time we used the service. Our butler retrieved one pair, but the second never turned up. On the most recent trip everything was returned both times we used the service. Betsy
Dblreed Posted January 21, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2012 We are in a similar situation. We have a B2B booked out of Miami, but we won't hit the 12+ day requirement for discounted laundry as a Captains Club Select member. Does Celebrity provide any special laundry benefits for B2B cruisers? And if not, are there laundromats available convenient to the Port of Miami? Laurab23 Posted January 21, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Will they wash in cold water if you request it?
fleckle Posted January 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2012 ........ Does Celebrity provide any special laundry benefits for B2B cruisers? It may be at the discretion of the Hotel Director. When we were on the Millennium, Andrew Harris gave all the B2B cruisers coupons for free laundry on the turnaround day. We wish they would make that standard practice for all B2B cruises. (If you are reading this, thank you again Andrew!)

Will a coupon be provided for those of us who qualify? Fairly new to X so I appreciate all the help!

rico Posted January 26, 2012 #12 Share Posted January 26, 2012 For reference, here's the laundry tag (prices) from Equinox on our cruise last week. We put the bag on the bed in the morning when we left and it would be returned the next afternoon.

It was not being offered on our November cruise; when it was, it was one time toward the end of the cruise, and it was $29.95. No laundry package offered. You can join Captains Club after your first cruise, takes multiple cruises to become select. The point system varies depending on length of cruise and cabin class. You can get this info on the X website. You will get coupons in your cabin (select gets free pressing of two items). If they decide to bring back the laundry special, you will receive a bag in your stateroom one night. There, I think I have answered most of the questions! You then must have that number associated with your reservation.Unless you do that you will receive nothing as they have to know who you are... A Sixth? Posted January 31, 2012 #18 Share Posted January 31, 2012 There's a wash and fold laundry at Crown Bay, that will rush guarantee your laundry for early afternoon and charges (As I recall) $ 1.75 per pound. That's several Tshirts and away cheaper than $ 2.95 each [/img]
MRSBITS Posted January 31, 2012 #19 Share Posted January 31, 2012 From what I have read on these boards, I believe you cannot.... I had our dark clothes (incl.) jeans washed in cold water last May on the Eclipse.
pbrady Posted January 31, 2012 #20 Share Posted January 31, 2012 Grammy2 - you said if you are Elite, you will get two bags of laundry done w/o a charge. We are Elite & have been doing the B2B so we got a coupon each on each cruise. It is my understanding that we will still get one coupon each, even though it is a 14 day cruise. Do you know something I don't? thanks!
