LDVinNC Posted February 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Do we have to purchase a card for each of us, or can we use it to get drinks for both of us until the $50 value is used up? Thanks.
AmyinCT Posted February 17, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2012 LDV - the Holland America beverage cards (soda and alcohol) can be used by everyone in your party until the value is exhausted. You do not need to purchase a card for each passenger. Amy

KirkNC Posted February 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Yea the soda card is the best deal going as long as you and your party will drink 22 sodas (which I will).
AmyinCT Posted February 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2012 And, worst case, it's a break-even deal. They deduct the full value for each of the first 11 sodas you drink ($1.95 + 15% gratuity = $2.24). If you drink 11 or fewer sodas, they will give you the remaining value, up to the $25 you paid, back on your final bill. Anything you drink after soda #11 is essentially "free". They also refund any leftover balance, up to what you actually paid, on the alcoholic beverage cards. In November, I had a $ .36 refund on my final bill from my card. I didn't get the value of the discount, but I didn't lose anything.

Tarpeian Rock Posted March 30, 2012 #16 Share Posted March 30, 2012 cans On our last cruise on Eurodam, we discovered that a glass of soda was one punch, a can 2 punches, which turned out to be worth it because a can got me more soda when 2 glasses worth of ice were factored out. Is this still the way it works (glass = 1, can = 2), or has this changed?
maxsmamma Posted March 30, 2012 #17 Share Posted March 30, 2012 cans Last time we had a card we got so much grief about it from the staff, and we'd get these juice glasses full of ice. If they had cans, we would consider it. We have been bringing our own pop, this would be a nice change!

If they had cans, we would consider it. The soda card has changed. It's no longer a punch card, good for 20 glasses of soda. Now the card costs $25, but it's good for $50 worth of cans of soda. If you don't spend the $25 you paid, you get the balance of what you didn't use, but there's no benefit that way. In other words, the first $25 worth of soda is full price, but the second $25 worth of soda is free with the card.
Rare lazydayz Posted March 30, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Ruth is right, of course. There were three of us and we still got money back on DGD's card. Of all the cards we had, the soda card was the only one that didn't have issues.
