Hello

Does anyone know where the laudnry is located on the 11th floor on QM2? It doesn't show up on the floor plans but I know there is one. We just booked a summer crossing and I am afraid we are opposite the laundry.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

I made a note of what someone posted once:

Deck 4 - Starboard Forward, Deck 5 - Portside Aft, Deck 6 - Starboard Aft

Deck 8 - Portside Aft, Deck 10 – Forward, Deck11 - Portside Forward

If you know that your cabin is opposite the laundrette on deck 11 then may I suggest that if you look at a deck plan (http://www.cunard.co.uk/Ships/Queen-Mary-2/Deck-Plans/ ), the laundrette will probably be opposite your cabin. Simples!:)

I just don't get laundries on a cruise. You pay thousands of pounds to be waited on hand and foot and what do people do ? They wash their own clothes !! You might as well offer to wash your own dinner plate after you're had dinner or, worst still, go camping !

In a very strange way, which I'm finding difficult to articulate, doing our laundry on board makes me feel even more at home. Sad I know!! :o

The way I read the original post, the OP doesn't know that their cabin is opposite the launderette, but is asking where it is actually situated as they fear that they may be opposite it.

Apologies if I've misunderstood the OP.

That was just as I read it, if the OP knew that the laundry was opposite his/her cabin he/she would not have needed to ask the question.

But beware of asking questions on these boards: some posters will regard you as lower life!!

The Deck 11 launderette doesn't show up on the deck plans on the Cunard website, but it is where Bluemarble suggests immediately forward of 11.009. Accessible (I think) from opposite 11.006, but deffo on the Port side from the little corridor near the 5 inside cabins.

It's shown on these plans though.....

We were in 11.023 a couple o' years ago and that location was great!

Thanks for all the help. Yes I know there is a laundry room on deck 11 starboard side towards the front. I wasn't sure how foward it was. We did the Norway adventure last summer and had room 11082 which was fabulous. I was concerned with having a starboard side cabin due to theproximity to the laundry.

I am happy to know I am a bit further down from the laundry. I think we got a great rooom. I wonder if the view will be different ;) Looking forward to our crossing.

Don't knock doing laundry in a Cunard laundrette. It's the friendliest place on board, and you meet all kinds of people. I'm a guy and when I'm in there waiting for my clothes to finish spinning or tumbling dry, I get all manners of request to help out -- do I rip open the detergent packet(I rip them open because the packing looks too tough to disintegrate in water), where do I sprinkle it in (on the bottom of the pan before putting your clothes in), how to set the washer controls (they're Maytags, for chrissakes), will you reserve this washing machine for me while I run back to my cabin to get my laundry (run quick, because no way can I fight off a lady determined to use an open machine), what do I do with all these wet clothes and all dryers being used (shrug my shoulders), etc?

And if I'm ironing my shirts, all ladies will comment as if I am the eighth wonder of the world -- where did you learn to iron, why doesn't your wife do this for you (I'm divorced and living alone), can you teach my husband to do that, look he does the yoke and can fold the shirt just right too.

But I do make it a point to do my laundry on port days when most people may be on tours.

How fascinating. Maybe it means that all people are different. Some don't get why there's a soft drink card, or those sales tables, or a casino or more than one bar or the fitness room or a place to smoke. Some make use of them. Some don't. That's a good thing. Could you imagine if laundries were the rage and 2500 people showed up at the same time? I'd have to go ot the casino.

We try an pick a cabin that is somewhat near the laundry room. We board the ship in S'ton after spending some time in London. We also go through a lot of clothes on the trip changing for the gym, dancing, dining, etc.

We plan our packing around doing a laundry on Day 1 and again on day 4 or 5. It allows us to pack lighter on the washables and leave more of our airplane baggage allowance for my wife's gowns and dresses. On our last TA we did a wash during the sailaway party.

I agree with prior post that you meet nice people in the laundry room and the women all comment on my ironing ability.

It's a great source of gossip, and at least 50% of what you hear is true. Plus, it's like hockey. You don't go for the stated purpose, you go to see the fights.

I was in QM2 cabin 11011 (in the Caribbean) and the laundry was a very handy 2 doors away... it may not show up on the latest deck plans but I assure you, it is there.

Bon voyage!

We were in 11031. The laundry was conveniently close (not as close as you, though).

The nicest part about Deck 11 Fwd is the "private" elevator to the library and the Deck 7 Promenade.

I would consider that rather patronising, after all it's hardly brain surgery. Anyone who can't iron a shirt, well.......

I hope that they are big, white and gleaming!

Yes with bright yellow laces which I propose never to do up properly and to leave the huge tongue hanging out too. Don't tell me I'm not trendy. I've also engaged a 13 year old to give me lessons in exactly how low my trousers should be and just how much of my underwear (and person) should be on show. Strangely, Anderson and Sheppard have little or no information on this sartorial point.

Come October I'll be the piece of resistance on board.
