perkydebrajean Posted March 8, 2012 #51 Share Posted March 8, 2012 I like the retractable roof idea. Smoking/Non Smoking casinos (my daughter can't handle smoke) Midnight buffet (seems like I get the munchies late at night!) Maybe some decks for families and others for non families. Adults only area with adults only pool. Designated "quiet" room. I can't read unless I'm in total silence!

Warm Breezes Posted March 8, 2012 #53 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Take the Epic and make the following changes: Reduce the number of rooms and make them a little bigger. Make bathrooms more private. Have extra help on the LIDO deck on seas days to assist anyone who is looking for a seat, have them assist in finding one that is open or has been occupied by an inanimate object past the 30 minute time limit. On sea days I could see this as a full-time job. Have lemonade or juice available at the drink stations all day. Make the jogging track where people can actually enjoy running by the sea and not have the view blocked with life boats. Mini-Golf would be nice. Reasonable on-line packages. Serve popcorn, peanuts, pretzels in O'sheehans. Better desserts. More non-smoking areas in Casino...move smokers away from walkway.
che5904 Posted March 8, 2012 #54 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Have lemonade or juice available at the drink stations all day.I agree and think this should be fleet wide. I seriously don't think this would take anything away from the bar, the drinkers will still drink and a lot of parents don't want their kids to have that much soda (enough for a soda card). I think it is rather sad that NCL's drink options are adult driven (coffee, iced tea, soda) Mini-Golf would be nice. That would be so funny playing and/or watching someone try to sink golf balls on a mini-golf obstacle course, on a rocking ship. Although mini-golf does take up a lot of space.
NeilD Posted March 8, 2012 #55 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Non-smoking balconies (or at least one side of the ship with non-smoking balconies) How about non-perfume ships....
time2cruise1 Posted March 8, 2012 #56 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Lots of great ideas. The funny thing with few exceptions most have been or are on NCL ships. Clearly no ship as had a retractable roof over the pool area but they do have one over the heaven pool area on the Jewel class ships. An all access retractable covered pool would be great especially for ships sailing from NYC in wnter.. Bigger water slides done Epic Aft pool adults only done Epic Laundry rooms have come and gone. Why they closed them lots of speculation. Digital photo done Epic. No card swipe needed. Facial recognition software used No smoking casino area done Epic. It would be better if the hallway area was the non smoking area. Movie Theaters come and gone. Removed on Spirit, Dawn, and Star. Very few used them. Lemonade was staple on NCL for years. Nothing better then half ice tea half lemonade. I agree bring it back If they made enough room just on the pool deck for everyone onboard to have a lounge chair they would have to remove the pools and hot tubs. :D Things I would like to see: Dry aged prime beef in Cagneys. Make it a quality steakhouse again. Larger cabins Return to a true promenade deck. Spinnakers where Spinakers should be with 180 degree views, high ceilings, a bar you can sit at, and terraced seating. The caves in the Star and Dawn are awful in comparison. Every new ship should have a forward observation lounge. I am sure I will think of more.
che5904 Posted March 8, 2012 #57 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Lots of great ideas. The funny thing with few exceptions most have been or are on NCL ships. . Perhaps what some are saying is take the things that most on here love and place it all on one ship. I'm figuring if the OP built a ship according to the wants on this thread, that ship certainly would have to be massive. Or there wouldn't be enough room for cabins :D
gra2172 Posted March 8, 2012 #58 Share Posted March 8, 2012 What would I want on it? Me! Yeah! :D My contributions: How about NCL getting into river cruises? Theres no shortage of day cruises in the world. A coworker actually took the Baltic capitals cruise that NCL has (on a different cruise line) and they had an overnight river cruise as an excursion deeper into Russia. Now thats cool. I was on a Royal Caribbean ship that had a solarium with a shallow pool in side for relaxing. That was pretty cool. My dream for NCL is more exotic ports. Ill be happy with pretty much any of their ships, just give me more choices. I love to have too many choices.

time2cruise1 Posted March 8, 2012 #60 Share Posted March 8, 2012 A large sports bar with big screens everywhere and various types of beer available. Non stop sports playing ! . You may get your wish from NCL FB “A” is for Action! On March 14th we will announce some areas on board Norwegian Breakaway where you will be able to take in all the action! mnmkit Posted March 8, 2012 #63 Share Posted March 8, 2012 A mid ship balcony room that holds 5 people - not a suite or a porthole. Get rid of the soda cards and put soda/water fountains in the dining halls and poolside. Soda is cheap enough and NCL makes the money on the alcohol sales. Fresh water pools. I agree with a previous poster for a smoke free casino - who needs to breathe in second hand smoke. Yuck!

Rochesterboatingdotcom Posted March 8, 2012 #66 Share Posted March 8, 2012 - Pool loungers with "parking meters" on them that you have to activate with your room key, similar to the cabin lights on the Epic. (no more chair hogs!) - A real brew pub - Libraries that are open more than one hour a day - Golf simulator
palmyrafan Posted March 8, 2012 #67 Share Posted March 8, 2012 More things I would like: 1) Recycle bins for cans, bottles, etc. throughout the ship 2) Interactive screens in your stateroom allowing you to choose which photos you want to purchase 3) Interactive exhibits that talk to you about the ports / countries /cities you are going to be visiting on your trip either throughout the ship or accessible on your tv in your stateroom. I love this thread and I think many people have some great ideas!
my_crib_too Posted March 8, 2012 #68 Share Posted March 8, 2012 A pay restaurant where you could get an extremely high quality 20" pizza. All the toppings that you want placed on your favorite crust type. Some days you just feel like pizza and the NCL ships that I have been on do not have great pizza. They have okay pizza but not great pizza. I'd pay extra for this.
che5904 Posted March 8, 2012 #69 Share Posted March 8, 2012 1) Recycle bins for cans, bottles, etc. throughout the ship Why? They already do all that sorting down below, to how they need it sorted. Have you ever taken the behind the scenes tour, it's fascinating.
Jokelady Posted March 8, 2012 Author #70 Share Posted March 8, 2012 I keep hearing rumblings that NCL will branch out into the South Pacific. I will be booking that cruise when it happens. I made a comment about the drink options and agree that NCL needs to bring back the lemonade. I would gladly pay a few extra dollars for the cruise if the drink options were better then water and iced tea. I won't get my kids a pop card because they don't need the caffeine and the calories. I would love the option of them being able to drink lemonade or even orange or apple juice. Someone mentioned the mini putt. We have been on Carnival with the mini putt and we never did use it. It was hard to when you are at sea because it's windy and when your in port you are on land exploring. Although it was good in theory, I never saw anyone use it on the two Carnival cruises I was on. Lazy river would be cool and so would spray decks on the whole fleet, not just Epic. Having Dora and her friends on some of the ships is a great idea. I think that is great for families. We loved our Slime Time on the Epic and the Dora breakfast was a hoot even for us old farts LOL. I agree with the poster who mentioned pretzels, popcorn and peanuts at O'Sheehans. I mentioned pajama night as well. I know we have the white hot Party but having a pajama night on deck or even jammies and a movie would be cool. Different themes for families or even the young crowd would be great. Quest is a great game show for young and old and I always see the room packed when we play. My family played a couple times on each ship we were on that had it. The windier it was the more my kids loved it. Seemed like there was always people up there playing when we were. Plus there always seems to be one port that we either don't get off at or just get off briefly so we can enjoy things like this without the crowds of sea days. sverigecruiser Posted March 8, 2012 #73 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Wouldn't that kind of go against what NCL's freestyle concept is all about "whatever, whenever, whereever" This way here you can dress formal whenever and wherever you like without dictating how others should dress. No! That would add one more choice and make NCL more freestyle. I love NCLs freestyle and should never cruise any other way but adding more options doesn't make it less freestyle. More options=more freestyle! The OP said that that only the sky is the limit! My opinion is that more choices is a good thing, other don't have to agree! che5904 Posted March 8, 2012 #74 Share Posted March 8, 2012 Sorry, guess I'm not bright enough to figure that out. It wasn't meant as an insult, I hope I didn't make it sound that way. Which is why I ask if you had been on the behind the scenes tour. If you are interested enough to wish for a recycle system (other than the paper bin in the cabins). I think you would find it quite informative.
