If you could design an NCL ship, what would you want on it?

Another poster made a comment on another thread about certain things they like, don't like and wish a ship had. It got me thinking, why not post a thread that we can chat about the things we want on our "dream ship" wish list. Who knows... maybe the cruise line will use some of our ideas.

So here goes....

If you could design a cruise ship... what would you have aboard? It could be anything from the design, decor, entertainment, service, offerings, you name it! It's your ship, so the sky's the limit!

Have fun!

I agree John. I have been on a ship with those and it's handy. The roof allows for the fun to continue in the event of rain.

Maybe the hire up's are listening?

I want NCL to keep the promenade deck on future ships. I enjoy walking around the ship after dinner and in the evening. It's also great if it's raining because you still get the freshair and exercise minus getting wet. Walking at the top of the ship at night is challenging with the wind your walking against, especially if your light LOL.

How about smaller ships like in the past. Like the Crown or Magesty. Where you could visit ports like St George, Hamilton, St Johns, etc. and not have to fight Mega Liners with Mega passengers.

DH says he would like a Haven only casino (don't they have this on the Epic?).

I would like to have more classes: cooking, etc. Also would like an information officer on board that really knows the ports that we are going to be stopping at, other than the concierge.

Small self-serve takeout station in Blue Lagoon open outside of buffet hours having fruits and filled baquettes/subs and similar easy-to-take-and-eat non-heated snacks (same that they serve in buffet at least in the evenings).

I agree, smaller ships are wonderful :D

In addition to the wonderful ideas already posted, I'd want my favorite crew members on board! :)

You got that right, but I am not sure that I would like all of my favorite characters (staff members) in the same place at the same time. the thought sends chills down my spine.

One thing I would add is a retractable roof to the pool deck. Like they have on Costa ships.

retractable roof and a Norwegian (perhaps Swedish also) Captain...:D

oh i miss those days! walking off the ship and BAM...Front Street (Hamilton)

I would want shops big enough to accommodate walkers, wheelchairs and scooters and not allowing any sales to take place out of the shop area.

it does bug me as a non-handicap person seeing all the extra tables of Bijoux Terner, Gold by the Inch, Fossil watches...etc. set up in the atrium/reception deck. the congestion gets a bit much.

now my contribution (in my dreams)...bring back clay pigeon shooting off the back of the ship!

-a 60-70 kt ship with telescoping sails for when your out at sea (just imagine the spectical of it!)

-a high amount of rooms with ocean views or balcony and a respectable number of solo passenger suites like the ones on EPIC for the interior spaces.

-slightly larger main pool.

I'd like digital photos instead of using the "walls of fame"

the technology has to be out there. prior to your photos being taken, they swipe your keycard to assign your photos to your cabin. have several kiosks set up throughout the ship...or even access the photos from your cabin tv...BINGO!

every cruise i keep asking how they feel about waste and are their sales enough to justify throwing out all that material? they say yes...

Yes I do think it's a waste and I do understand how it promotes sales as well. I just don't like to be on display period.

They apparently have digital on the Epic, it's about time then they went fleet wide.

What would I want on it?

Me, of course. :)

I would suggest better wi-fi and speedier internet access.

I would also like to see interactive flat screen TV's in the rooms and/or monitors at each set of elevators wherein one could access the floor plans, dailies, menus, room service, reservations, shore excursions, butler services, photos, etc.

It should fit 5,000 passengers to compete with oasis, have the aqua park, normal bathrooms, and more things to do for kids. the kids thought the clubs were boring. also, add maybe the first ever lazy river at sea?? or how about a bungee jump off the side of the ship???? :):):):):):)

When we were on Gem, the crew told us they do pay attention to what's posted on Cruise Critic. They said they learned it was better to listen than to ignore it!

My wish list for NCL:

  • self-service launderettes
  • better waterslides (they're too small!)

More outdoor space in general. Which would include more deck space. I'd like it so that each and every passenger would have a lounge chair outside. There'd be no need to save chairs, no chair hogs, no one upset because they can't find a seat. Also better decorating in the outdoor spaces with things like landscaping, flowers, waterfalls, potted trees, all outside to enjoy.

I'd like more hot tubs and nicer hot tubs, goes along with ^^^^ I'd like them to be surrounded with plants, flowers, trees. I'd like the hot tubs to actually be hot. Not luke warm.

I'd like the theater to be bigger so that it will accommodate anyone who wants to see the show and enough seats where you don't have to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to sit together with your travel companions.

Options like lobsters, a real lobster, not the halfsy tail thing they do now. I'd like escargot, shrimp cocktail, cold soups and good deserts all in the main dining rooms.

I'd like more swimming pools and bigger swimming pools. Pools with a shallow end like normal hotel swimming pools where you can get in and stand up in 3ft. of water.
