How often are your vacations Cruises?

.

We use to go to Vegas 4 to 5 times a year. It may not seem like much but we are in Mi.

We would also take a trip or 2 a year to an all inclusive resort.

We took our first cruise.

Still went to Vegas 4 to 5 times but cut out the all inclusives. Got tired of the cheap drinks, poor food and hardly any entertainment. The last was at a Sandals that was promoted as being tops. NOT. Overated, too expensive, and not the way the brochures show it.

Cut back on Vegas to 2 times and took 2 cruises.

Cut back on Vegas to once a year and started to drive to FL and would do B2B and visit Key West, Disney and etc while there.

Now cut out Vegas . Try to sail out of NY. If we go to FL we do a B2B or schedule 2 cruises close to each other and do other things while there. We now drive to the ports as flying is a pain and we allow plenty of time to enjoy places along the way.

The flying is one reason that we stopped going to Vegas.

Try to take at least 3 cruises per year and am now doing those that are longer than 7 days. We aren't loyal to any one cruise line. We chose the cruise based on many factors and price and departure ports are in the top 2.

We've only been cruising for a few years. For us we take about 1 cruise a year, then do a couple of land vacations. We love to travel, so do so as often as financially possible. We bought a travel trailer 2 yrs ago & now take that out at least 2x per year-- we love road trips & nature. We like to cruise cause it gives DH a break from driving. So about 1/4 of my vaca time is spent cruising, the other 1/2 is spent in our RV, the last 1/4 is spent either flying or driving & staying in a hotel. DH is retired, so he wants to go go go all the time.:D

We went to Disney in 2006, St. Thomas in 2008, and then our first cruise in 2009... now we're hooked. Since 2009, my BF and I have been on 3 cruises and have the 4th coming up in Sept. For now, we only plan cruises. Although, we did combine a short stay at Disney before our cruise out of Port Canaveral, if that counts.

We are limited to just one large vacation (or two smaller) a year because I only get 2 weeks of vacation. But in 2013 I get an extra week, so we should be cruising a little more often :D.

Let me explain- Every time you have vacation time, how often is it that you cruise? I know some that cruise ALL the time, and some that cruise rarely.

For me I went on the Fantasy in 05 (1st cruise) and between then and my 2nd cruise (on the Magic) I went skiing, I went to Lousiana, I went to a "dude ranch" and i've been to Dallas, San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

I'm not sure if my next vacation will be at sea or on land....so whats your expierence?

Lately cruise 3x a year, DH/DW when our schedules allow.

Plus 4 solos, last minute deals.

We took our first cruise ever in Jan/2011 and since then we have taken another this year and have two more booked for the next two years out. Along with the cruise last year we took a land vacation (driving) to SD from VT to see DS's legion baseball tournament. This year in addition to the cruise we will probably drive to Mrytle Beach sometime this summer and next year will be doing a ski trip to Jackson Hole 3 weeks before our next cruise so for us it's a little of both. Have to have at least 1 cruise a year though!

It depends. Last year, we did 3 vacations: 1 cruise, 1 amusement park, 1 Vegas. This year we are doing an 8 day. We may do a long weekend in the summer to an amusement park. It all depends on what we feel like, times, price, etc.. We aren't tied to just cruising.

We usually cruise every other year, alternate years we rent a condo on St. Croix. This will be the first year we've cruised twice in a row. We also go to Atlantic City a couple times a year. We'll be retiring next year so this may change!:D

Since we started cruising 11 years ago, I would have to say our vacations have been 50% land and 50% cruises. Last year we went on 2 cruises. This year we only have land vacations planned (possibly a cruise in Dec we have not decided yet). One of our vacations last year was 50% cruise (Canada 5 night) and 50% land (NY 5 nights). I like the combination ones the best :D.

Since our first cruise in 2006 we've tried to go every year because it's out preferred vacation. Had a rough year last year with elderly parent illness, so we were afraid to go anywhere.

If we lived closer to a port and didn't have to factor in our air fare, we would cruise more.

we do a mix of both. been on 5 cruises since 2004, but we haven't cruised in almost 3 years. since then we have been to key west a couple of times, sanbel island and longboat key, fl. we went to hawaii last year. flying to puerto rico in a few weeks. and probabaly another land vacation later in the year. the only remaining carnival itinerary we have an interest in is the southern caribbean. i have used cruising as a way to find places i would like to go back and stay.

I get 6 weeks of vacation a year and for the past few years have taken either 3 or 4 cruises per year, with the rest of the vacation time being spent either remodeling at home or visiting family in Tennessee.

About the only other "vacation" that I take is to go in with siblings to rent a beach house in Gulf Shores, AL.

This year I cruised in March and I don't have another one planned until September. I'm really at a loss for what to do. My family wants to go to the beach, but it would cost us at least twice as much to do that vacation...........I can't justify spending that much more money to go to a beach and pay for my meals all week and not do anything but sit on the beach.........no casino, no steward service, no shows, no big screen, no free food, nobody waiting on me..........

We are trying to cruise once a year, but we had to miss 2010, we had a miserable staycation simply because we couldn't make up our minds.

We have done Disney almost every year or Universal, we love FL and we go 3-4 times a year. Our cruises have been in 2009, 2011, Nov 2012 and Aug 2013. I would love to go more, but with the 4 of us, things can get pricey.

This year our summer vacation will be at my parents timeshare at the beach they let us have, then we will take our DS's on a cruise in Nov as our oldest will turn 16 onboard.

Next year, we will do Disney-like April or so-and then cruise on the Dream again.

We take several vacations a year. Long and short motorcycling trips every year. Usually a houseboat trip.

Gambling trip or 2 to Vegas, Tunica, Tahoe or Laughlin.

We've done Orlando/Florida several times. We are just back from motorcycling the Texas Hill Country (gorgeous!).

After our first cruise in March, 2010, we have discovered that we LOVE it and have been on a cruise a year since and I am elated to say that we will continue this!! Wahoo!

How fortunate are we all or what! :D

We cruise twice a year. One 7 dayer and then a shorter 4-5 dayer. In between we take long weekends (Thursday - Sunday) to Galveston, New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. We also have a lake house where we spend a lot of weekends. DH says he has to stare at different walls to feel relaxed and away from the stress of working.

I try to get one cruise in a year. We also take other land vacations. Some are short weekend getaways (2 weekends ago to Williamsburg, VA), and others are longer. I'm going to Las Vegas in June for a few days and can't wait!! Last time I was there was in August 2006 when I got married. :D

Reality: we've cruised about once every 2 years since 2005; on the off years, our vacations are either to visit extended family or my immediate family comes along when I have to take a week-long business trip (not such a great vacation for me since I have to work, but they have a good time!)

Fantasy: cruise at least once a year with family members who live far away and NO business trips!
