B2B with different rooms

Hello, we are sailing on our first B2B crusie this fall and we did not get the same room for both sailings:(. How much of a pain is it to change rooms? There is only one deck difference between rooms on the sailings.

Thanks for the info.

Not that big of a deal.

I packed up my drawer items and items for the bathroom (shampoo, etc..). A room steward brought a clothing rack of some sort for my hanger items. There was some coordination between both room stewards and my room steward let me know when my new room was ready and my new room steward helped me move my suitcases and the clothing rack.

The key is to pack up early and let the old room steward clean the room so they are not behind in their schedule.

A bit of a pain...which will be mitigated by the fact that you're staying onboard for another cruise while almost everyone else will be heading home. :D

Your hanging items will be transferred to your new cabin via a hanger rod on wheels. You'll need to quickly pack your HBAs, and anything in drawers and on shelves. Coordinate with with your steward...it should be a fairly quick process.

I've actually managed to just swap the empty drawers of the new cabin for the full drawers of the old cabin. It may have something to do with the fact that I have never asked a question on a ship that required an action in response without immediately showing my appreciation for service rendered.

last year on the grand, they were 'too busy' to help me move. pursers desk said ask the steward, he said ask the new steward. an hour later no one had showed up, so i had to pack up my suitcase and i shlepped it to my new room myself. i understand that is not the norm. i hope not, as i board on sunday (eeeeeee!!!) and 12 days later will be changing rooms for the next cruise.

For me last Fall it was a piece of cake!! I packed the things that were on the closet shelves and in the drawers, and tossed my toiletries in a tote bag. I put the suitcases and tote bag in the closet area for the conveinence of the "transfer team", who would be doing the actual moving.

While I was out of the cabin for the "get off the ship, get back on the ship routine", which was done with an crew member escort, my belongings were moved to my new cabin. The clothes that were hanging in the old closet were hanging in the new closet when I get there, so all I had to do was put the stuff back on the closet shelves and in the drawers.

It turned out to be way less cumbersome than if I had had to do it myself.

I hope this will be the case for the OP as well! :)

When we did it, the extent of the steward's help was to bring a rolling rack for our hanging clothes and roll it to the new room. We had to pack and unpack everything else. DH has asked that we not book abother b2b unless we can get the same cabin.

although i've got the same cabin for my b2b (on MONDAY!!!), i got a crap-cabin assignment so i have switched: changed to waaaay better for the first trip. the 2nd is now a so-so pick. its worth it to me to change--even if i have to do it myself again. i do hope there is at least a rolling cart for me. i hope this time everything goes as you all says it should!

We have moved many times and the stewards told us to leave the drawers full and they just switched the full ones for the empty ones.

In my case, I moved from an inside to a balcony and the drawers were not all swappable. I had far more drawers in the inside cabin.

HBA = Health and Beauty Aids. IE - In WalMart, it is what the section (shelving) outside of the Pharmacy is usually called. I first heard of the word when I worked for an inventory company.

Ah, thank you. That explains my confusion, having never set foot in a WalMart.

It's not unique to just WalMart. Any type store (small or large) that has a section of shelves with a selction of health (OTC meds for example) or beauty (hair products for example) aids are called HBA.
