I found it on my work computer. This was my final version, used to book our dinners. The gray items are options. Blue means Flowrider is open. Yes, we did book our dinners around Flowrider operating times.

Love it!! I always make a similar spreadsheet and its invaluable!

Haha that was me cabin 8706! Must have seen my "wheels"! Great location although once I was given crutches it was too far to the elevators. Love being close to Central Park. The key is going on boarding day and there's not much of a line. Really there is 2 lines one for salads and one for sandwiches folks just don't follow along. We did grab chips for our carb snacks during the week. Hubby thought they need an ice cream machine there or by the hot dog stand or in doughnut area. Agreed!

Your review is detailed and great so I just may chime in here and there.

Did like the Conseirge lounge was moved into Blaze giving full bar access although I do love the people watching up in the private lounge deck 6.

Sorry about your friend in St Thomas. I did hear someone got hurt but didn't get the details. 2 others fell in SXM as well but weren't injured just me. I'm struggling but will get there. You never realize how many steps there are til you encounter them .. Ships bathroom , balcony, navigating into dining room etc!

Didn't do many shows this time but have seen them all over the prior 2 trips.

Entertainment was good this cruise. Matt Yee in Schooner was good and late night comedy was pretty good (one guy was on last year too). Karaoke ok limited times tho.

Any word on the water diving/acrobat employee that got injured at beginning of week or why the distress call to bridge? Ship didn't stop for anyone overboard?

Thank you all for reading along. It keeps me motivated to continue the review!

We're going Dec 22nd - I'll save the cabin next door ;)
Wow, I can't go that quickly! But I confess we are daydreaming of a potential B2B on an Oasis or Freedom class ship next summer or fall!

Are you a mystery writer in real life? :D What great cliff hangers. Can't wait for the next installment!! More! more!
Ha, nope! I just try to find ways to keep y'all reading.

Al guessed you were in 8706. He's the one whose wife was injured in St Thomas.

I didn't hear about the employee injury at all. They ran drills one day early in the week - maybe Nassau? So they did the Alpha-Alpha-Alpha and blew the ship's horn 7+1 a couple of times. I think that was the morning of Day 2 while we were at our Flowrider lesson.

No MOB that I heard of this week. I think we would have known by now.

Thanks for adding to the review! :)

Now, for the moment we'd been waiting for...(I bet you can guess)

We had run all of our errands, checked out our stateroom, changed to swimwear, and we were off to Deck 15.

We love riding on Day 1. The lines are short (if not nonexistent). And it fulfills all of the dreams of the past several months of counting down. And for us, it means...

I'm on a Boat!!

It was here that we met our new friend Dave, who would play a big role later in the week. Dave was a pretty good rider. From talking to him we found out he was on the second leg of a Back-to-Back. So he had gotten some good riding time in the previous week. It was interesting to learn from him all about the B2B process.

We met the sports deck staff and got our feet wet until about 3:30. Then we headed back to the room, where we found a nice invitation in the slot on our room number outside the door (who knew there was a slot for messages? I need to remember this for the next time we're traveling with others and need a handy way to leave notes.) The invitation was for Chef's Table that night at 7:30pm. Very exciting!

Also, our luggage had arrived. We unpacked, changed back to dry clothes, and headed to the safety drill. Our station was D1, which meant we were in Studio B - the ice rink.

TIP: If you want to be able to leave the safety drill immediately after (after all, there is a LOT of ship to explore!), DO NOT be one of the first to arrive for the drill. You will be guided to the seats closest to the front and farthest from the door. You will then be subjected to "the herd" after the drill.

No more life jackets. Just introductions of the staff, a message from Captain Johnny, a short video with strangely-shaped white characters resembling the Blue Man Group, and dismissal by the Captain.

We found a quick way out, through the casino (another TIP).

We were headed to our Roll Call group's sail away party, but we stopped by the Bow & Stern pub on the way. Chris had seen the menu during our planning, and he was looking forward to his favorite Murphy's Irish Stout. We walked in, checked the menu, Chris ordered the Murphy's, and guess what? No Murphy's. Not at B&S. Not on the ship at all. And there wouldn't be any for the entire voyage. I had a sad husband on my hands :( But he would survive.

Back up to Deck 15 to the Wipe Out Bar. There we met Harold, Buddy, Al and Janet from our roll call. We also met Kate and Sean (who I can't find on our roll call, but that's fine!). Maybe a couple of others showed up? I can't remember. I was already into my first Drink of the Day (a Tropical Sunset).

Harold was sweet enough to bring a chilled bottle of champagne to share with our group. So we sipped our cocktails, got to know each other a little, and just enjoyed ourselves in a nice, uncrowded area as the ship sailed. There was great energy in the air!

Here's a photo of our roll call group:

I knew there were webcams on the port side and we had some friends and family at home watching the ship leave, so Chris and I headed over to the port side aft to try to wave. I called my sister and cousin and, while they were excited to see the ship leave LIVE, they couldn't see us because the camera never zoomed to that level. (You can request a "wave", but I didn't because I didn't want to commit to being there at that time.)

I also knew there is a home along the inlet that has a Flowrider in the side yard, so we snapped a photo.

DSC03473.jpg

You can see the Flowrider to the right of the home. Right behind the hot chick in the bikini. Yes, Chris had the camera. You don't know how many of the zoomed photos I had to weed through to find one that is more about the Flowrider and less about the hotchickinthebikini. Boys will be boys.

See what I mean?

DSC03474.jpg

Here's the one I was trying to get.

DSC03472.jpg

We noticed we were being followed out to sea.

DSC03477.jpg

We don't remember this from other cruises. We later noticed during our cruise that security seemed to be unusually high all over the ship. Guards up high along the promenade. Security walking the pool deck and near the flowriders. Looking through the binoculars up there. We didn't remember this from Oasis or either of our Liberty cruises. Others we spoke to had noticed as well. Someone said there were coast guard boats with guns following us out of the channel. (Maybe that's normal?) Anyway, it's curious, but a little extra security doesn't bother us!

Now it was time to head back to our room to relax, shower and get ready for the main event - The Chef's Table!

Great Pics. :D I remember that home with the flowrider, how cool. We had three coast guard boats with guns around the ship as we left FLL.

Hi "out2sea"!

I passed you and your hubby Thursday in the hallway wheeling you to your stateroom and noticed a fresh wounded right knee. I asked if you had a booby. Your husband responded that you broke your ankle in St. Maarten.

I wasn't trying to be smart but it seemed ironic. The day before my wife had tripped and fell on her face at the pier the in St. Thomas and she was looking a lot worse than you. She had 5 stitches in her lip and 9 stitches in her right knee. She was to sore and embarrass to leave the room in her wheelchair until Thursday night for dinner. BTW our room number was #8704. Hi neighbor!!!

Back in the stateroom, and Chris is right at home in one of his favorite places on the planet. A balcony overlooking nothing but ocean.

DSC03478.jpg

It is Casual night on the ship tonight, but Chef's Table requires "Smart Casual". We cleaned up and strolled to the Library about 7:20. There, we and our 12 table mates were presented with champagne. At 7:30, we were led into the Concierge Lounge above Dazzles (it was fun to see this), and up some stairs to a table waiting for us. We overlooked the Boardwalk and Aquatheater while we ate.

We had place cards at our seats. A quiet experience at first, but there were wine pairings included, which means things got increasingly more energized. Chris and I were seated in the middle of the table, so he got to know the people on his end (two couples traveling together and a couple from Austin) and I got to know the people on my end (another two couples traveling together). Across from us sat Andrew Jackson. Yes, really. Except he was Bahamian, not Tennessean and he was not 245 years old.

The Jacksons were neat. They would be leaving the ship the next morning when we docked in Nassau, to go on a fun shore excursion, I mean, home to do laundry. We thought it was pretty cool that they went on a cruise to go home.

We were presented with customized menus, complete with a table map with names of our fellow diners. Here is the menu:

Spinach and Ricotta Blini

with Graved Lax and Smoked Halibut

Domaine William Fevre, Chablis, France

Soup Trio

Potato Cream, Asparagus Consomme and Tomato Soup with Basil Foam

Cakebread Cellars, Napa, California

Miso brushed North Atlantic Black Cod

Sauteed Baby Corn, Bok Choi, Parsnip Puree, Candied Meyer Lemon

Belle Glos, Pinot Noir Blanc, Rose, "Oeil de Pedrix", Yorkville Highlands, California

Pink Roasted Beef Tenderloin

Black Truffle Spaetzle, Asparagus, Yellow Baby Carrots and Port wine Reduction

Cabernet Sauvignon, Robert Mondavi Winery, Napa, California

Orange Crunch Parfait

with Mascarpone Fruit Zabaglione

Chilled Disaronno, Amaretto Liquor

The chef came out to present each course, and a sommelier presented each pairing. The food was delicious. The parings were perfect. The company was engaging and fun. We finished up at about 10:30.

I think it will be fun to compare the plans and calendar I prepared before the cruise to what actually happened. Tonight, we were scheduled for Chef's Table at 7:30 and Ocean Aria at 10:45. Apparently some of our table mates also had reservations for Ocean Aria.

After a quick stop at the restroom, we headed down to Deck 6 to the Boardwalk and out to Ocean Aria. 10 minutes before showtime, they release the reserved seats. We ended up getting there after the seats were released and had to sit on the benches in the splash zone. But that was fine.

The show was about 30 minutes long and included divers, acrobats and high divers. It's a great show, very similar to the Ocean of Dreams show on Oasis.

So today, we met all of our goals from pre-planning. Chef's Table and Ocean Aria. We're 2 for 2.

After Ocean Aria, we decided to check out Blaze, the night club. Tonight was the "Traffic Light Party". Drinks were served in cups with flashing lights in the bottom that were either green (available), red (taken), or yellow (it's complicated). It was like Facebook on the dance floor. Except not really. Either nobody had read the Cruise Compass about the Traffic Light Party, or there were a bunch of complicated people on that ship.

The club was not very busy, and the DJ changed songs too often for our liking. Between flashing lights and shifting music, we felt like we were in fast-forward mode and it was just our first night. We wanted this cruise to last as loooonnnggg as possible.

So we took a walk on the upper decks. Just like we had on Oasis the first night. The pool deck was empty. The Viking Crown Lounge was empty. 6300 passengers on this ship and it was just midnight. Where was everyone?

We did get to take a peek into the chapel that night. It is nicely done.

Ahhh...breathing in the salty air, ship drifting slowly toward the Bahamas. Detached and unwired from cell phones and internet. We were pretty close to Heaven. And soon, it was off to the comfy Royal Caribbean bed and linens for us.

Tomorrow - Nassau. We have plans to hop over to Senor Frogs to watch people. How will that turn out?

Susan - thanks for a great review.

We enjoyed meeting you and Chris on Bernard's tour. You're both really good on the flow rider too. :) Jim thought of trying it but that's as far as it got so we sat in the bleachers and watched.

Looking forward to your upcoming posts and pictures.

Well 8704 neighbor hope you are feeling better! I completely understand your embarrassment. First night I just went to Windjammer for dinner. Not impressed with it but that was the easiest for both of us. Hard to navigate wheelchairs into the dining room depending where your seat is. When I did go on Fri we went very early and moved chairs around and stayed til the end and did the same to get out. Worked ok for 2nd seating. Concierge Lounge was accommodating as well.

Bummer you lost one more day than I did. I love St Thomas. Hope you got to enjoy the day :)

I know they did the drills but there was an extra call in there just wasn't sure if anyone heard about it.

Thanks for sharing the FLL flow rider pix didn't know that one. Was as the "character" Sailaway party in aqua theater. That was fun. Cast did a great job. Then grabbed a few pic and back to cabin for pre dinner festivities.

We found not many people out late at the clubs or bars either and the majority of people on this cruise were 30s-50s. Not sure where everyone was either.

I know. I didn't want to get off the Oasis. I guess that's why I didn't give it a proper ending :(

The early lesson is a great idea. Has she ever ridden before? I recommend that she go at 1pm on Day 1. There won't be any lines and she can get her "sea legs" back (or get a little early instruction if she's never tried it). It will be better for her going into the lesson with a little practice.

We did ours the morning of Day 2 and it was excellent. More about that coming up soon...

No she has never tried it. I am nervous given the videos I have seen of people falling. She can stand up on a surf boad so I hope that will help her. I am going to have her try to do it the first afternoon like you recommended. Do you know the hours the firs day? We have lunch at Giovanni's booked at 12:30, so we will not be able to get there at 1:00pm sharp :)

It is usually 1pm - 4pm and 5:15pm to 7pm on Day 1. The break is for the safety drill. Don't be nervous. It's like a tarp pulled tight over an open area - kinda bouncy like a trampoline. So when you fall you don't get hurt. When you wash up to the top, I recommend trying to be on your back, rather than front. My elbows and knees are pretty scraped up.

Day 2 - Sunday, October 1. As normally happens on cruises, no matter how dark the blackout curtains are, the sun woke me up. We were due to arrive in Nassau at 7am. Per the clock on my photos, I must have woken up just before 7am and we were already docked.

I was excited about this day, because I knew we were sharing the piers with two ships that are very special to me. The first one, I saw the minute I opened the drapes.

DSC03487.jpg

Carnival Ecstasy. This was my ship in 1993 when I cruised with my first husband with another couple who still remain dear friends of Chris and me - Bryan and Melissa. I remember we had an outside stateroom, but I don't remember which side or end of the ship. I do not remember those balconies. Don't they look like they were stuck on with Play Doh? It's still a pretty ship, reminiscent of the days when balcony staterooms were reserved for suites. It was very nostalgic to see this ship.

A few minutes later, as Chris was waking up, and I looked out again and guess what was pulling in to port?

DSC03490.jpg

The Disney Dream! This is one of Disney's newer ships and sister ship to the Fantasy - their two largest. I made Chris come out to the balcony to watch the ship back in.

We are big Disney lovers, and I have researched this ship until I've grown mouse ears on my head. But, we have decided to wait until we have grandchildren old enough to enjoy a Disney cruise. That should be 10-15 years from now. So for now, we either borrow someone else's kids, or we wait. And Dream. Pun intended.

DSC03491.jpg

DSC03495.jpg

Today's Plans:

9:30am - Flowrider lessons

Late morning/afternoon - Head ashore with two goals:

1. Take photos of the Ecstasy and Dream.

2. People-watch at Senor Frogs

7:30pm - 150 Central Park

10P:30pm - Chicago (Broadway production)

Late - Black & White party at Blaze nightclub

So we slowly got moving and stopped by Park Cafe for breakfast. They have custom made bagels, fruit cups, yogurt and granola cups, pastries, fresh fruit, and probably more.

Then we headed up to the flowrider for our lessons (which were pre-booked and paid before the cruise). Lessons are $60 per person with a minimum class size of 4 and maximum of 8. You have two instructors and can choose boogie board, stand-up, or a combination.

We were joined by a mother-daughter team. Jane and Grace. Grace just missed the minimum height limit for stand-up so she only worked on her boogie skills. Jane tried both. Our instructors were Sean and Mel. We rotated through a few runs for the first fifteen minutes. Then Jane and Grace decided they were finished and, even though we all encouraged them to stay, they decided to leave. This turned out great for us, as it ended up basically being 2-on-2 private instruction for 45 minutes. Both of us improved quite a bit. They had Chris power carving and doing 360s. I did a couple of 360s by the end and was carving, but not with power. Once I had the carves down pretty smooth, I remember saying "someone should have just told me this is like snowboarding on powder".

We had a blast in our lesson, and we tipped our instructors (not required, but we really appreciated them). We both agreed that the lesson on the first morning was the best thing we could have done for our flowrider skills for the week.

Next, we were headed to change into dry clothes and grab a bite to eat before heading to shore. I think we had a couple of slices of pizza at Sorrento's. In my opinion, Sorrento's is not the best pizza on the planet. But it's not the worst. And sometimes you're just craving a good ole piece of pizza. I got a spinach and (goat?) cheese slice and a pepperoni slice. If "pepperoni" is singular, that is what I got. There was precisely ONE pepperoni on my slice. Chris got something similar, but with pepperoni (plural).

Then we went to the elevator bank and hit the "Gangway" button. When we got to the elevator lobby, a RC employee asked if we were planning to go ashore. When we said "yes", she shook her head and guided us around the corner, saying "take a look". It was pouring rain. So we waited a few minutes for it to slow, and it didn't. We decided to explore the ship a little more and try again later.

Thanks for posting and sharing your week with us. I can't wait until my return trip on her next month. I too and a Flowrider addict! Spent almost every hour that it was open "surfing". It's a big ship but DH always knows where to find me :D

I'm sensing a possible Pulitzer Prize nomination with this review! :)

What a good looking group of people there too!!!

You're doing great.

You're going to have to wait a little longer for my review as I am headed back to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow as I am not adjusting well to these colder temperatures here in Virginia!

I hope you made it to Señor Frogs despite the rain storms. We tried leaving there several times and held back - could barely see 3 feet it was so heavy. Eventually we did just take our chance and didn't melt but we were wet !

Great people watching from all the ships. Singing, dancing, conga lines.. Everyone drinking even employees. You won't see that in the States :) fun times. Wonder if everyone on all ships made it back? The markets here seemed to be a little pushy even after a no thank you and the public bathrooms - what's up with the black water, seriously? Was happy to make it "safely" back on ship - get into dry clothes (not from flow rider) and grab some pizza ! Awaiting Sailaway and pix taking!

Waiting for the rain to subside, we explored the ship a little more.

From the Royal Promendade, next to Sorrentos. This is the same place where, on Oasis of the Seas, painters are painting over the word Genesis, reminiscent of the concept name for Oasis Class ships.

We went back to our room to wait out the rain. We had our balcony door open and I laid on the bed for a mini-nap. But I never really fell asleep because they were showing The Little Mermaid on the pool deck of the Disney Dream and we could hear every word and every song. Like I said, we're Disney fans, but this might be annoying to those on Allure or Ecstasy who were on a more "adult" vacation.

Oh look, it's stopped raining! Let's go ashore. I think they are holding a Yard Stick sugary drink for me at Senor Frogs!

Out of the room, down the long hallway, to the gangway. And guess what. It's pouring again. People are rushing to get back on the ship. We waited another 5 minutes or so, and retreated back to our stateroom.
